People in Need Ethiopia was founded in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents who were not satisfied with just reporting on conflicts and started sending aid. Gradually, it was established as a professional humanitarian organization to provide aid in troubled areas and support human rights around the world.

In our more than 26 years of existence, it has become one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central Europe for people in need. In addition to humanitarian aid and human rights, it also targets education and helps people living in social exclusion.

We are part of Alliance 2015, a strategic network of seven European NGOs working on humanitarian aid and development projects. This cooperation increases the effectiveness of campaigns to influence politicians and public opinion in Europe by working in target countries. Over 16 years of operations in Ethiopia, we have focused on five key areas of interest: Education and Social Protection, Environment, Livelihoods and Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Emergency Programs.
