Position 1: Administrative Assistant (AfCDC)
Workplace: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Main Functions
•Maintain and update files and databases
•Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments
•Monitor and order office supplies
•Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
Communication and Correspondence
•Answer and direct phone calls and emails
•Draft and distribute correspondence, reports, and other documents
Assistance and Support
• Assist visitors and clients
•Assist with the preparation of presentations and other materials
•Perform other administrative and clerical duties as needed
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
•A minimum of Diploma in Secretarial Science, Office Management, or Management is required with three (3) years of relevant work experience.
OR
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Secretarial Science or Office Management or related field with two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
•Work experience in administrative and/or secretarial work.
•Experience in Office Management is mandatory.

REMUNERATION:
The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$ 55,174.63 (GSA5 Step 5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 22,656.97 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff of the African Union Commission.

Position 2: Head-Youth Development & Engagement Division
Workplace: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Main Functions
•Manages the work of the Division and supervise direct reports to ensure their effective performance as per organization’s performance management policy and system;
•Designs strategies and policies consistent with the Department’s goal in order to address the pertinent issues in the relevant area;
•Contributes to the development of the departmental business continuity plan and ensure implementation at division level;
•Manages risk within the division and recommend mitigation strategies;
•Designs and plans policy programs to achieve the strategies;
•Develops new and review activities as components of the strategies and policies;
•Addresses problems in arising to current approaches to relevant area;
•Engages stakeholders within Members States and RECs in designing and implementing strategies;
•Represents the organisation and explain its position at conferences;
•Mobilises funding from all donors to use to execute strategies and activities;
•Contributes to the preparation of periodic financial and budget execution reports and monitor budget execution at division level;
•Creates an inspiring work environment to enable staff development and professional progression.
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
Must have a Master’s Degree in Youth Development or related Social Sciences field of study with 12 years of relevant post qualification working experience, 7 years of which should have been served be at managerial level and 5 years at supervisory level.

REMUNERATION:
Indicative basic salary of US$ 50,746.00 (P5 Step1) per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance US$ 26,208.00 (per annum), and education allowance (100% of tuition and other education-related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$ 10,000.00 per child per annum), for internationally recruited staff and a maximum of $3,300 per child per annum for locally recruited staff.

Position 3: Technical Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance (AfCDC)
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Main Functions
The Technical Officer for IDS will lead the implementation of the integrated disease surveillance strategy for the continent by:
Improving IDS at national and sub national levels by training surveillance officers on case-based disease surveillance and by working with other programs to integrate all relevant surveillance sources in national surveillance systems in AU MS
Improving Africa CDC’ indicator-based surveillance (IBS) system and using thresholds to foster early detection from these sources preparing and disseminating summary reports.
Improving existing IDS protocols, procedures, training materials, and represent Africa CDC in sharing experiences and advancing the vision of IDS in regional, global meetings and workshops.
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
Masters Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or related fields with a minimum of two (2) or five (5) years of relevant work experience respectively
Experience in establishing and strengthening disease surveillance systems in MS including delivering trainings and developing surveillance indicators.
Demonstrable experience in supporting the implementation of public health programs with emphasis on IDS and epidemic intelligence
Demonstrable technical expertise and experience in the development of policies, processes, procedures and tools for disease surveillance.
Preferred experience in outbreak response and/or training in field epidemiology
Ability to engage effectively and diplomatically with external partners including national governments, donor institutions, inter-governmental agencies, other regional governance bodies, and academia.
Demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge of operations of the Africa CDC, Regional Coordinating Centres and National Public Health Institutes is preferred.
Clear understanding of the health systems on the continent and fair knowledge of operations of the Ministries of health in Member States.
REMUNERATION:
The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$ 85,212.07 (P2 Step 5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 66,751.81 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff of the African Union Commission.
