BEES DEVLYTICS as a local Ethiopian organization, firm, and research institute is recruiting field researchers (qualitative and quantitative) to extend its pool of resaerchers for an anticipated data collection and analysis of a simple randomized household survey using both a qualitative and quantitative method, which targets Ethiopians from 18 years and above in three areas of Ethiopia including Addis Ababa and two areas (currently around Bahir Dar and Hawassa). The survey will inform the political economy analysis (PEA) design, gather information about what citizens view as priority issues to be addressed in Ethiopia and their communities to develop an initial list of cluster themes for the project and the Social Network Analysis (SNA), and gather initial data to inform the baseline of the performance indicator matrix. The research will be conducted during May /June, 2023 with field presence of two weeks and training one week.
Roles and responsibilities of Data Enumerators – Quantitative (CODE-004)
- Attend Researchers training on-site and understand business requirements of the assessment
- Develop daily assessment plan with the supervisor and conduct the citizen survey using data collection platform compliance with high standards of research ethics
- Ensures all citizen survey data is properly filled and uploaded to data collection platform every day;
- Make sure data collection devices such as tablet or smart phone is fully charged at start of each data collection day
- Report any issues during data collection to supervisors
- Obtain consent of all students and guardians taking part in the assessments.
Roles and responsibilities of Data Enumerators – Qualitative (CODE-005)
- Good understanding of qualitative research, probing and questing skills, good interview facilitation skills.
- Transcribe audio data verbatim/word to word
- Translate transcriptions to local languages and back translation to English in meaningful manner
- Use of qualitative data analysis such as NVIVO and Atlas is an advantage
- Have the ability to work with audio recording devices and ensure audio data is properly saved and have a backup after each interview
- Good communication skills and experience in participatory methodology.
Roles and responsibilities of Supervisors:
- Attend Data Enumerator’s training on-site and understand business requirements of the assessment.
- Contact local authorities to coordinate the survey and gain their cooperation.
- Lead the overall process of citizen survey in communities, CSOs, public sectors, etc. using data collection platform in compliance with high standards of research ethics
- Assign work to enumerators, ensuring that there is an equitable distribution of the workload.
- Check and confirm that all survey data is properly captured and uploaded to the platform everyday.
- Perform on-site supervision and coordination at selected enumeration areas.
- Facilitate daily briefing and reflection meetings on data collection, issues, and feedback on data enumerator’s performance.
- Employ fieldwork control sheets and make sure that assignments are completed on-site.
- Support cluster supervisors in the data collection of the qualitative survey.
- Will be responsible to manage logistics such as devises (Smart Phones, tablets), field vehicles, fuel management, communication materials, etc.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications and Professional Experience;
- Minimum qualification- BA in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Finance, Sociology, Economics or related fields and has a minimum of ten years’ experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection experience;
- Experience in the Civic Engagement/citizen survey or similar assessment is an advantage;
- Experience in conducting/supervising Community-Based Survey is Mandatory;
- Familiar with basic android or Smartphone applications;
- Experience in SMART data collection using tablets, particularly ODK, SurveyCTO; qualitative data analysis software’s (NVIVO/Atlas.ti)
- Good knowledge of the area and local customs of the community;
- Ability and skill to speak, communicate and write in the local language (Amharic, Sidamuu Afoo, etc);
- Good capacity to work in a team and capacity to manage priorities;
- Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours;
- Ability to cope with stressful situations, good organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Good knowledge and practice of survey team supervisory skills; and
- Innovative, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
