Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science-UOG would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following position.

Position 1: Field Officer

Position Summary:

CDHI-University of Gondar is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Woreda-levelField Officer to play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of interventions at these woredas aimed at reducing immunization dropouts. This project will involve close collaboration with all levels of the health system, including Woreda Health Offices, health institutions, health posts and community members. The field officer will travel in the woreda to the kebele level and provide technical support and engage communities based on identified interventions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Implementation Support:

Lead and coordinate Woreda-level implementation day-to-day activities of the research project.

Monitor and document daily project activities, ensuring adherence to the implementation protocols and timelines.

Collaborate closely with Woreda Health Offices and health institutions to facilitate data collection, information sharing, and program coordination.

Tracking progress of implementation plan by monitoring intervention activities, gaps and suggesting improvements based on feedback at woreda/kebele levels.

Prepare activity reports on regular bases

Conduct regular meetings with MELR lead and central research team

Technical Assistance:

Provide technical assistance to health institutions on the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) during routine immunization activities including mentorship, supportive supervision and follow ups.

Support the implementation of non-routine immunization programs such as campaigns and mobile immunization drives.

Community Engagement:

Travel within the Woreda to the Kebele level to provide technical support and engage with communities in project activities and programs.

Facilitate community mobilization and participation in immunization programs.

Build strong relationships with community leaders and members to address barriers to immunization.

Other Duties:

Participate in project meetings, workshops, and trainings.

Prepare reports and presentations as required.

Contribute to the development and dissemination of research findings.

Conduct other activities assigned by the core team and Project leads.

Position: Field Officer

Duty Station: Afar (Gelalo woreda), Amhara (Gondar Zuria woreda) and Oromia (Dedessa woreda), Ethiopia.

Number of Post: 3 (1 for each region)

Contract: Full-time for 1 year with possible extension based on performance

Salary: Based on the project’s scale

Job requirements:

Essential

Minimum of BSc degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Medicine or related fields and strong professional experience in the immunisation program

A minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in primary health care units (PHCU) institutions of Ethiopia.

Willingness to move and base in assigned woreda during the project period

Willingness and ability to travel both within assigned woreda as needed.

Fluent in Amharic and local language (Afar for Afar region, Afan Oromo for Oromia)

Desirable

Trainings related to Immunization program

Leadership experience related to Immunization program in PHCUs including Woreda health office team lead, Immunization focal, Health centre/hospital EPI unit lead etc.

Demonstrated strong leadership, coordination, teamwork and planning skills with proven ability to function effectively with the government, partners and other stakeholders at woreda level.

Excellent interpersonal, cultural skills and flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.

Motorcycle driving license is advantageous (to move around the community and health posts)

Position 2: Data Collectors and Supervisors

Position Summary:

CDHI-University of Gondar is seeking qualified and competent data collectors and supervisor to participate in a baseline survey as part of an implementation research project aimed at reducing immunization dropouts. The selected candidates will be responsible for collecting both quantitative and qualitative data through house-to-house visits and health institution-based surveys in designated woredas across the Afar, Amhara, and Oromia regions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Data collectors:

Execute survey activities, including coordination, ensuring data quality, conducting data cleaning, and interpreting and reporting findings.

Conduct data collection from the designated Households and health facilities.

Ensure secure storage of information collected during interviews/observation/focus group discussions.

Assist in the collection, processing, and storage of data.

Complete relevant forms and follow established processes.

Ensure adherence to research protocols, ethical guidelines, and data quality standards.

Prepare and submit timely reports on data collection activities and progress.

Supervisors:

Supervise and coordinate data collection teams conducting house-to-house and health institution-based surveys.

Ensure adherence to research protocols, ethical guidelines, and data quality standards.

Monitor and support data collectors in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.

Monitor fieldwork progress and resolve any challenges encountered during data collection.

Conduct regular data quality checks and provide feedback to the research team.

Prepare and submit timely reports on data collection activities and progress.

Required Skills:

For data collectors:

Have a BSc degree or higher in health sciences (Nursing, midwifery, public health, Pharmacy or related fields) with a minimum of 2 years.

Prior experience in immunisation surveys or surveys related to the field is advantageous.

Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Have expertise and training in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.

Willingness and ability to travel to data collection sites as required.

Possess excellent skills in data organization, programming, and communication, coupled with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Good in English (both writing and reading)

Fluent in Amharic and in addition fluent in Afar for Afar region, and Afan Oromo for Oromia site

Willing to take on additional responsibilities.

For supervisors:

Have a MSc degree or higher in health sciences (Nursing, midwifery, public health, Pharmacy or related fields) with a minimum of 2 years.

Proven experience in supervising data collection teams, preferably in health-related research.

Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively in selected woredas of Afar, Amhara, and Oromia regions.

Good in English (both writing and reading)

Fluency in Amharic and local languages.
