CISP has been operating in Ethiopia since 1986 and since then has always been alongside local institutions and communities to face humanitarian emergencies and lay the foundations for the consolidation of long-term development processes.
In the last 35 years in Ethiopia CISP has been implementing more than 200 multi-sectoral and multi-regional projects, mainly in the sectors of food security and rural development, Livelihood, WASH, Education, Health, Migration, Protection, CMDRR, and Emergency and Rehabilitation in Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Afar regions and Addis Ababa City Administration. In all projects, CISP set gender, children, and environment either mainstream or as cross-cutting issues.
Currently, CISP in partnership with CUAMM and COOPI started a project to mitigate the effects of the ongoing drought, helping to save lives through the provision of essential services in Filtu, Bokolmayo and Dolo Ado Woredas of Liben Zone and Dolobaye woreda of Afder Zone of Somali Region.
CISP (Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli) would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.
Position 1: Project Coordinator
Job Requirements:
- BSc. degree Economics, Project Management, Development studies, WASH and related field;
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience for B.Sc. and 6 years for MSc. with a thorough understanding of all areas of project management cycles in development and humanitarian settings.
- Experience and knowledge of the tradition and pastoral context;
- Proficient in Somali, Amharic and English Language
Competencies/Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge of Development project Management/Coordination.
- Track record of successful work experience and results in project management in NGOs setting
- Result oriented and team player,
- Knowledge and understanding of Project Cycle Management (PCM),
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, MS Project,
- Proficiency of English, Somali and Amharic,
- Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality
- Commitment to values and working styles of CISP Movement,
- Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective collaboration with all staff,
- Ability to manage a complex and demanding workload,
- Ability to travel with the country whenever required.
Workplace: Filtu, Somali
Position 2: Community/Social Worker
Roles and Responsibilities:
- The Social Worker will be responsible for project implementation at the kebele level.
- He leads beneficiary selection for all components of the project by devising targeting strategies and methodologies pertinent to all project components.
- Works closely with government partners at the local level and the people of concern to facilitate the proper implementation of project components in 10 kebeles Liben zone, Somali Regional State.
- Assist the respective officers in the development of different action plans and responses. Besides, the social worker takes the lead in mobilizing community participation in the project implementation.
- Support the team in project monitoring and evaluation activities of the project,
- The jobholder will be responsible for community sensitization and awareness raising activities for new approaches and technology adaptation whenever necessary.
- Responsible to collect and register baseline information, data about the project’s progresses, feedbacks, outcomes and other relevant information,
- Play a leading role in the establishment of community feedback mechanisms (CFM) in each of the operational location and check the closing of the CFM loop.
- Daily follow up the status of the implementation of project activities.
- The Social worker is also responsible to prepare periodic reports and works as focal point in assessing and reporting security situations at the community level.
- He performs other additional activities under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator
- The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the following technical and behavioral competencies:
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Willing to Accept and give constructive criticism
- Follows all relevant procedures, processes, and policies
- Meets different work deadlines, quality requirements when doing authoring activities.
- Should be strict on doing own work and open for correction.
- Takes responsibility for meeting commitments and for any shortcomings
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
BSC/Diploma degree in rural development, community work, general agriculture, animal husbandry economics, WASH, or related field;
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3(three) years for BSc or 6 (six) years for Diploma relevant experience and knowledge of social work principles and practices;
- Experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing monitoring and evaluation plans;
- Experience in indicator development, qualitative and quantitative data collection and reporting methodologies,
- Ability in organizing and facilitating awareness raising and capacity building training to communities, as well as supporting colleagues in this aspect;
- Demonstrated analyzing and report writing skill;
- Excellent in written and spoken English;
- Proficient in Somali, Amharic and English Language
Desirable:
Experience of managing donor (s) funded projects; NGO experience and Knowledge of local language (culture and context).
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Ability to do all essential accounting functions;
- Ability to handle additional tasks assigned;
- Posses’ personal qualities like willingness, honesty and integrity etc.;
- Open and easily approachable;
- Should manifest adequate knowledge in performing IT related works like, doing Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat; and related software including e-mail management systems.
