Editors Guild of Ethiopia would like to invite qualified and interested job seekers to apply for the following vacant position.

Position 1: Communications and IT Officer

Organization: Editors’ Guild of Ethiopia (EGE)

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Type of Employment: Contract (9 months, with possibility of extension based on performance and funding)

Reports to: Executive Director

About You

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, ICT, Digital Media, or related fields.

At least 2 years of relevant experience in communications or IT support, preferably within media, civil society, or advocacy organizations.

Proficiency in social media management (Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn), content scheduling, and analytics tools.

Experience managing websites (especially WordPress) and using graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, or Illustrator).

Strong writing, editing, and translation skills in both Amharic and English.

Basic IT troubleshooting skills and familiarity with video conferencing tools.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.

Experience working with journalist associations or media advocacy groups.

Knowledge of media monitoring and digital storytelling techniques.

Skills in video editing, livestreaming, and visual content creation are a plus.

Position 2: Administration and Finance Assistant

Organization: Editors’ Guild of Ethiopia (EGE)

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Type of Employment: Full-time

Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager

About You

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in administrative or finance roles, preferably in NGOs or media-related organizations.

Basic knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with Ethiopian tax and labor laws.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks).

Good verbal and written communication skills in Amharic and English.

Experience supporting donor-funded projects.

Knowledge of procurement and inventory management processes.

Fluency in other local languages is a plus.

Position 3: Project Accountant (Contractual – 9 Months)

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Type of Employment: Contract (9 months, with possibility of extension based on performance and funding)

Reports to: Executive Director and Finance Manager

About You

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.

Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in financial management, preferably with projects, NGOs, civil society organizations, or media-related projects.

Strong understanding of project-based accounting, budget tracking, and donor compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.

Familiarity with Ethiopian tax laws and reporting procedures (VAT, withholding tax, pension, etc.).

Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic

Experience with donor-funded project reporting.

Understanding of the media or non-profit sector in Ethiopia.

Knowledge of procurement and logistics practices.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Type of Employment: Full-time

Reports to: Executive Director

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (preferably MA) in Project Management, Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related social science fields.

At least 3 years of proven and relevant work experience in project coordination or program implementation, preferably in a media, civil society, or human rights organization.

Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects and familiarity with donor reporting.

Strong event planning and logistical coordination skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online collaboration tools.

Experience in media development, press freedom advocacy, or working with journalists/editors.

Fluency in other local Ethiopian languages is an asset.

Knowledge of financial documentation and budget tracking.
