Position 1: Regional Senior Project Officer II – Crop Value Chain
Job Requirements:
- Master’s Degree or above in agronomy, plant production, seed science, horticultural science or related fields.
- AT least 8-year experience in agricultural development projects.
- Professional field experience in at least 4 of the following (more is an asset): i) farming system analysis, ii) seed value chains (formal and informal) support, iii) agro ecological practices, iv) horticulture, v) adaptive research, vi) participative research farmer groups, vii) establishment of Seed Producer Cooperative Unions (SPCU), viii) Community seed banks, or ix) agricultural extension service development.
- Knowledge of Ethiopia with knowledge of the Amhara Region context is a strong asset.
- Experience in Participatory Guarantee Scheme (PGS) establishment is an asset.
- Familiarity with Ethiopia’s agricultural research system is an asset.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication in English and in Amharic.
- Sensitivity to gender and environmental issues.
- Desire of improving the lives of smallholder farmers.
- Willingness to undertake frequent field visits.
- Computer literacy.
- Rigour, autonomy, and integrity.

Position 2: Regional Senior Project Officer II – Gender Specialist
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Sociology, Gender and psychology, Gender studies, Gender and development.
- At least 8 years of professional experience on gender aspects
- Experience in social mobilisation of women groups and training of actors on gender aspects
- Practical experience in mainstreaming gender into projects and programs
- Hands on experience in compiling, analysing, and reporting gender disaggregated data.
- Fluency in oral & written communication in Amharic and English.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills with highly collaborative working style.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty, and desire to be of service.
- Working in emergency and conflict situation would be an asset.
- Experience in local and/or international NGOs is an advantage.

Position 3: Regional Senior Project Officer II – Livestock Value Chain
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Animal science, Animal production, or related fields.
- AT least 8-year experience in agricultural development projects of which half in relation to livestock development.
- Professional field experience in at least 2 of the following (more is an asset): i) fodder production multiplication and distribution, ii) farming system analysis, iii) soil fertility management, or iv) apiculture.
- Knowledge of Ethiopia with knowledge of the Amhara Region context is a strong asset.
- Understanding of Ethiopia’s agriculture sector, with a broad perspective on how the entire system operates and how public, private and informal actors operate within the system.
- Excellent ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
- Excellent ability to build relationships with people, and teamwork.
- Excellent adaptive problem-solver in challenging environment.
- Proficiency in oral and written English and in Amharic.
- Sensitivity to gender and environmental issues.
- Desire of improving the lives of smallholder farmers.
- Willingness to undertake frequent field visits.
- Computer literacy.
- Rigour, autonomy and integrity.

Position 4: Regional Senior Project Officer II – RBoA Focal Person
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Agriculture, Agricultural economics, Economics, Rural Development or related fields.
- AT least 8-year experience of the implementation of agricultural development projects.
- Experience in working with multi-dimensional teams and complex work programs.
- Analytical skills, including livelihood and farming system analysis.
- Knowledge of Ethiopia with knowledge of the Ahmara region context a very strong asset.
- Experience in crop and livestock value chains, particularly seed (formal and informal), support or management would be a strong asset.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication in English and Amharic.
- Experience in agroecology would be a strong asset.
- Familiarity with Ethiopia’s agricultural research system is an asset.
- Experience in Participatory Guarantee Scheme (PGS) establishment is an asset.
- Inclination towards participatory management (at team and beneficiary level), capacity to implement and experience of participatory planning methods.
- Desire of improving the lives of smallholder farmers.
- Leadership, autonomy, and integrity.
- Strong capacity to facilitate teamwork.
- Conflict management capacity.
- Willingness to undertake frequent field visits.
- Computer literacy.
