The Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) is an umbrella organization of 38 OPDs in Ethiopia, working to advocate for disability rights and empower persons with disabilities. It collaborates with CSOs and member OPDs to ensure equal participation and benefit of persons with disabilities in all aspects of development.

Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disability would like to invite qualified and interested job seekers to apply for the following different position.

Position 1: – Senior Finance Officer

Main responsibilities:

  • Treasury management
  • Document management
  • Balance sheet accounts follow-up and reconciliations
  • Payment and receipts processing
  • Timely finance planning and reporting
  • Participate in both internal external audits
  • Budgeting and budget management, donor reports and analysis
  • Contribute to the overall proper functioning of the finance department by taking on any other duties assigned by supervisor
  • Contribute to the overall improvement of the finance and accounting systems of the organization by providing recommendations to supervisor for consideration on specific areas that could be improved
  • Contribute to team work and team play
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification and Experience required

Bachelor Degree/MA in Accounting and finance, Business Administration, and Commerce with 6/4 years of relevant experience respectively

Workplace: Addis Ababa

Position 2: – Admin and Finance Manager

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures in accordance with safeguarding principles.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting activities, ensuring resources are allocated for safeguarding measures.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for improvement, with a focus on safeguarding expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards, particularly in relation to safeguarding practices.
  • Manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger functions with a safeguarding lens.
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process, conducting thorough background checks and adhering to safeguarding protocols, while fostering diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that prioritize the safety and well-being of all individuals involved, ensuring equal opportunities for women and persons with disabilities.
  • Manage employee relations, performance management, and training initiatives, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding and promoting an inclusive work environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of safeguarding incidents and investigations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and execute safeguarding strategies and initiatives that embrace diversity and empower those with disabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by his immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree / MA in Finance, Accounting, Business administration or a related field.
  • Minimum 8/6 years work experience in related position, with a strong focus on safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulations, specifically related to safeguarding.
  • Familiarity with HR policies, procedures, and employment laws, with a specific emphasis on safeguarding and promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and reporting, with the ability to track safeguarding-related expenditures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and empowering work environment.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritizes, and meets deadlines, while maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding and equal opportunities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office, accounting software, HRIS).
  • Professional certifications in finance or HR, combined with specialized training in safeguarding, will be an added advantage.

Position 3: – Sign Language Interpreter

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation services to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals.
  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, conveying the meaning and intent accurately.
  • Adapt signing style and techniques based on the needs and preferences of the individuals with whom you are communicating.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to a professional code of ethics.
  • Stay up to date with current sign language trends, technology, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as educators, healthcare providers, and event organizers, to ensure effective communication and inclusion.
  • Prepare and research specialized vocabulary, terminology, and subject matter to ensure accurate interpretation.
  • Provide advocacy and support for deaf or hard of hearing individuals, promoting accessibility and equal opportunities.

Duty Station: FEAPD, Addis Ababa Office.

Duration of Contract: One Year with Possibility of Extension.

Salary and Benefit Package:  Negotiable based on the organization scale & the candidate’s previous experience

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Ethiopian Sign Language (ESL) and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Certification as a sign language interpreter from a recognized institution or professional organization.
  • Strong linguistic and interpretation skills, with the ability to effectively convey both spoken and signed messages.
  • Excellent knowledge of deaf culture, communication methods, and assistive technology used by the deaf or hard of hearing community.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different environments, topics, and communication styles.
  • Sensitivity, empathy, and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds and communication needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with individuals from different backgrounds and age groups.
  • Flexibility to work in various settings, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, legal settings, and public events.
  • Experience in providing sign language interpretation services are preferred, but motivated and skilled individuals who are newly certified are also encouraged to apply.
