Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (HFE) is a world leading organization committed to the treatment and reintegration of patients suffering from Obstetric Fistula and the training and deployment of qualified midwives to prevent Obstetric Fistula and other child birth injuries.

HFE, which was established in 1974 G.C by Drs. Catherine and Reginald Hamlin, has been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 60 years. Including our main Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa we have 5 regional Hospitals, Rehabilitation and Reintegration center and The Hamlin College of Midwives. We deploy midwives into rural health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these facilities.

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia in collaboration with Stakeholders is going to implement a Partnership program called Woreda by Woreda (WbyW); to enable Woredas to be free of obstetric Fistula by ‘2030.

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia would like to announce a new vacant position in the following different vacant positions.

Position 1: Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer for Woreda by Woreda Program (Eradication of Fistula) Project

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Woreda by Woreda/WbyW/ program/ Project leader, the M&E Officer will lead the design, implementation, and operation of WbyW M&E systems from project initiation to closeout. She/he will oversee the monitoring, evaluation, analytics, and reporting of performance and results, providing regular project reports to this Program Team Lead. She/he will provide technical leadership and supervise staff experts and oversee data management, analysis, and ongoing training to other staff who participates in the project. She/he will conduct regular project data analysis and identify methods to use results for program improvement. She/he will lead activity efforts to strengthen monitoring and evaluation and performance reporting within the geographic area of Activity. This position is contingent upon award.

Job Requirements

Required Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics, public policy, international development, or related field. An advanced certificate in M&E, statistics, is preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5(five) years of professional experience in a senior M&E position responsible for implementing M&E activities on development projects.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Organizational skills, with ability to work to and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Confidence and ability to deal with people at all levels across disciplines and cultures
  • Proven track record of taking responsibility and ownership for problems and following them through to resolution
  • Demonstrated ability through previous experience with data quality assessments and oversight, developing and refining data collection tools and analyzing data, and managing and providing ongoing training to other staff who participate in project field activities.

Position 2: Patient Identification Officer

Mode of Employment: Permanent/Full Time/

Reports to: The Team Lead of Woreda by Woreda Program

Place of Work or Project site Oromia Region: Illu Ababora (Mettu)

Gender: Male or Female

Job Requirements

Required Education:

BSc or MSc Degree in Midwifery and in maternal and child health related fields

Work Experience:

Minimum of 4(four) years’ experience in managing and coordinating maternal and newborn health system or program

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent skill of computer software packages
  • Ability to take appropriate individualized patient history
  • Ability to screen and confirm obstetric fistula with appropriate method.
  • Ability to organize training for midlevel heath workers
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural communication skills,
  • Able to work well both within a team and independently under stressful conditions.
  • Fluent in English, Afaan Oromo, Amharic languages and able to communicate with other  local languages is preferred
  • Proven facilitation, team building, and coordination skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extensive field trip.
  • Proven analytical and strategic planning skills and ability to prepare evidence based reports
  • Being an active listener and critical thinker is recommended.

Position 3: IT Specialist or Information Technology Specialist

Mode of Employment: Permanent/Full Time/

Reports to: The Team Lead of Woreda by Woreda Program

Place of Work or Project site Oromia Region: Illu Ababora  (Mettu)

Number of Candidate: One

Gender: Male or Female

Job Requirements

Required Education:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or in HIT (health information technology)

Work Experience:

5(five) years’ experience in Relevant Areas

Key competencies and professional expertise required

  • This role requires extensive familiarity with IT processes and procedures, effective communication, project enhancement, and user support
  • Excellent skill of computer software packages
  • Fluent in English, Afaan Oromo, Amharic and  other  local languages is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural communication skills, able to work well both within a team and independently under stressful conditions
  • Proven facilitation, team building, and coordination skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extensive field trip.
  • Efficient troubleshooting abilities
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing and active listening
  • Great customer service and interpersonal skills

Position 4: Team Leader of Woreda by Woreda Program (Eradication of Fistula) Project

Mode of Employment: Permanent/Full Time/

Reports to: The HCM, MCH Coordinator

Place of Work or Project site Oromia Region: Illu Ababora  (Mettu)

Number of Candidate: One

Gender: Male or Female

Job Requirements

Required Education:

MSc in Midwifery and/or MSc, MPH in maternal and child health related fields

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5(five) years of related work experience as a coordinator in community based activities, such as managing health related programs/projects at national, regional or at Zonal level is preferred.

Key competencies and professional expertise required

  • Demonstrated qualifications and experience in program design, monitoring and evaluation of health programs, and provision of technical assistance; experience working in community health preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and written skills.
  • Excellent working skill of computer software packages including Microsoft excel.
  • Fluent in English, Afaan Oromo, Amharic  and other  local languages is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
  • Ability to work well both within a team and independently.
  • Proven clinical and program experience working in the delivery of maternal and child health service delivery programs.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing service delivery protocols, norms and standards.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in other agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to write technical documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor teammates from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds in the areas of maternal and newborn health.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven facilitation, team building, and coordination skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extensive field trip.
  • Being an active listener and critical thinker is highly recommended
