Position: – Finance Officer
Background Information/Objectives:
Under the overall supervision of Finance Manager, Finance Officer (FO) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has responsibility to in country. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the FO Prepare complete, accurate and timely I1D financial/grant reports and submit to the Supervisor per I1D and donor policies. Prepare all contract agreement with vendor and ensure that all the payment is executed as per the agreement. Assist on a timely Audit of annual book as per the national standard and Donor requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare schedules of various accounts and project cash flows.
- Prepare monthly Bank reconciliation, Budget vs Actual spending and other reports in Quick book Software and donor template and submit to FM.
- Record transactions in appropriate ledgers and or journals
- Effect authorized payments such as wages and salaries, per diem and petty cash payments
- Ensure AP projects financial data processing and keep all accounts are current and up-to-date
- Review payroll preparation for AP level hired staff and casual workers and effect timely payment
- Proper documentation, Scan and Paid stamp of all I1D financial documents
- Review and check cash payment voucher for completed disbursement documents and transfers to the FM for checking and subsequent replenishment.
- Follow up of the settlement of temporary advance payments effected with suspense vouchers within seven days.
- Ensure sufficient petty cash fund is maintained at HO for financing weekly expenditure and to request the replenishment of the fund before the balance is reduced to 10% of the float.
- Prepare government and donor financial reports as required
- Support external and donor auditors in providing information and required documents in the formats needed
- Perform other duties assigned by Finance Manager.
Recruitment Qualifications/Competencies:
Education:
BA degree in Accounting
Work Experience:
More than 4-years of relevant experience preferably in NGO.
Basic knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer: MS Excel, Accounting Software (Quick Book Software is preferable), Word and Access.
Knowledge of Quick books is an added advantage.
Ability to speak Amharic, Tigrina, Af- Afar, Afan Oromo and good command of the English language will be an added advantage
Other Requirements:
Integrity, honesty and reliability, willingness to work extra hours, Self-driven, committed team-players of high ethical standards with good interpersonal and communication skills.
