International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO dedicated to creating income and livelihood opportunities for poor, rural households of Ethiopia through various projects implemented in different parts of the country.

iDE Ethiopia, with its Headquarters in Denver, Colorado State, USA, has started its operations in 2007 and has been implementing different projects through fundings from various donors such as USAID, EU, DFN, Max Foundation, GAC, LDSC, etc. www.idegobal.org

iDE has recently received funding from Latter Day Saints Church ( LDSC) that aims at addressing the root causes of malnutrition by focusing on multiple channels of impact on diet, including the first thousand days of life, supporting resilient food supply chains, improving agricultural development of more nutritious product, creating access to healthy foods, and providing education to women of child bearing age to ensure proper dietary diversity for healthy growth before, during and after pregnancy.  The LDSC Nutrition work will be implemented across all iDE projects (WASH, RIPA, HTTG, and CARD II).

International Development Enterprises (IDE) invites competent and qualified candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Design Assistant

Job Requirements

Your experience level:

  • Someone with at least 3 years of experience working for an international development organization, product design and marketing company, or design firm
  • Background (sociology/anthropology, design, product/industrial design, business)
  • Someone passionate about empathetic design
  • Someone driven by making meaningful solutions to solve complex development problems.
  • Experience working across diverse cultural environments, or remote areas
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams and communities in rural areas of Ethiopia, as you will facilitate research and collaborative design approaches.

 The type of experience that we are looking for:

  • Experience in applying various innovation methodologies to project (human centered design, behavior change methodologies, behavioral economics, rapid prototyping and testing)
  • Experience with conducting ethnographic research in diverse contexts
  • Experience in synthesizing large amounts of qualitative data into a digestible and visual story
  • Experience in converting research findings into actionable strategies that are easy to operationalize
  • Visual design or product design skills
  • Experience in developing creative directions, and communicating this effectively with a client and team
  • Experience in facilitating offline and online workshops (HCD, co-creations, stakeholder alignments)
  • Experience in presenting in front of large audiences
  • Skilled in using Adobe Creative Suite and other design software like Mural
  • Skilled using project management tools like Clickup or Asana
  • High proficiency in English reading, writing and speaking

Position 2: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • MSc/MA (desirable) or BSc/BA in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Project Management or related fields,
  • At least 3 years for MSc/MA and 5 years for BSc/BA direct experience, respectively, in M&E related roles with development and/or agricultural research projects.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • NGO experience is of an advantage.
  • Strong Monitoring & Evaluation, analytical and writing skills.
  • Mature personality, result-oriented, problem-solving attitude & ability to work with little guidance.
  • Sociable and team player.
  • Knowledge of the local community’s language (Afan Oromo) is of an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, and statistical software, particularly SPSS, STATA. 

Workplace: Aleltu, with possible travels to Project woredas and kebeles.

Position 3: Project Coordinator

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • MA/MSc (desirable) or BA/BSc Degree in Natural Resource Management/NRM, Participatory Forest Management, Climate change, Agriculture and Resource Economics, value chain development, developmental economics, business administration, agribusiness, and development studies, Marketing Management, Business Management or related fields.
  • At least 3 years for MA/MSc and 5 years for BA/BSc direct experience on NRM, smallholder farmers’ agri business and livelihood development.
  • Knowledge and skills in the following areas is required: value chain analysis; market systems development; value chain financing and investment; and producer/marketing cooperatives, financial Inclusion, enterprise development, women empowerment etc
  • Knowledge and skill in GIS and related soft skills
  • Good interpersonal relationships and team work skills in a multi-cultural environment
  • Proactive, participatory and result oriented approach to work
  • Excellent networking skills with the ability to establish good relationships, confident in engaging with colleagues, partners and stakeholders
  • Constructively critical, and analytical
  • Entrepreneurial, affinity to creativity and innovations
  • Open minded and flexible in approach
  • Effective communication
  • Cross cultural sensitivity
  • Readiness to work outside of the framed job description
  • Availability to work outside normal hours to meet deadlines and travel to project sites and within the region and outside when necessary and sometimes on short notice.
  • NGO or private sector experience is preferable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Workplace: Addis Ababa, with frequent travels to project districts

Position 4: Team Leader (Gender, Conservation and Livelihood)

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • MSc/MA (desirable) or BSc/BA in Agricultural Economics, NRM, Climate change, Economics, Project Management, Development studies or related fields,
  • At least 3 years for MSc/MA and 5 years for BSc/BA direct experience, respectively, in M&E related roles with development and/or agricultural research projects.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • NGO experience is of an advantage.
  • Strong Monitoring & Evaluation, analytical and writing skills.
  • Result-oriented, problem-solving attitude & ability to work with little guidance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Position 5: Field officers (Livelihoods and Conservation)

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or BSc/BA in NRM, Climate change, Crop Production, General Agriculture, Agriculture and Resource Economics, Agricultural Extension or related fields.
  • At least 6 years for Diploma and 3 years for BSc/BA direct experience in working with pastoralists, agro pastoralists and farmers as extension agent, market facilitators, etc
  • NGO experience is of a great advantage
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of the local community’s language ( Afaan Oromo and Kafficho) is compulsory
  • Sociable and team player
  • Knowledge and skills in events and community development facilitation
  • Knowledge and skills in Participatory Rural Appraisal/ PRA, community development facilitation
  • Knowledge and skills in GIS and other related soft skills
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented with the ability to handle intense pressure, willing to work in rural areas on a day-to-day basis
  • Motor bicycle driving license is compulsory.

Workplace: Selected Woredas of Kefa, Dawro and Konta zones of South Western Ethiopia Peoples Region (Bonga) and Buno Bedele, Ilibabor and Jima zones of Oromia Region (Jimma), with frequent travels to project woredas.

Position 6: Project Finance and Admin. Officers

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

BA Degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized university (minimum)

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience
  • Familiar with NGO budget and reporting set up
  • Familiar with accounting software;
  • Administrative and/or human resource management experiences are of an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsulsory.

Position 7: Driver/Mechanic

Key Responsibilities: –

Reporting to the Project Finance and Administration Officer, the Driver Mechanic is responsible for giving driving service as scheduled and when requested by the respective staff, and assists in procurement of goods and services when assigned to do so.

Duty station: South Western Ethiopia Peoples Regional State (Bonga) with frequent travel to project woredas.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3rd grade and above valid driving license.
  • Diploma in Auto mechanics.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in NGOs is an asset
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to shoulder additional tasks without complaint.
  • Readiness to work under harsh and stressful conditions.

Workplace: South Western Ethiopia Peoples Regional State (Bonga) with frequent travel to project woredas.
