Jhpiego Ethiopia Country Office would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Environmental health expert (6)

Salary Grade: The recruitment type is service delivery contract with monthly fixed payment at gross amount of 27,857 ETB and non-taxable communication allowance of 500 ETB. The payment will be done after the confirmatory letter from their assigned district which will be approved by regional health bureau.

 Number of positions: 6

Department: Health facilities/IDP sites in and surrounding Debre Berhan

Duration: 2-3 months

 Specific responsibilities

  • Provide day to day service delivery in the assigned IDP site or health facility
  • Coordinate the work of the team and manage operational matters (e.g. Supplies (Medical Gown, PPEs), Stationery, etc.).
  • Assess the potential risks for outbreak (active surveillance)
  • Regularly update the woreda/zonal or RHB on immediately and weekly reportable disease
  • Facilitate and lead with woreda/ zonal or RHB outbreak response, if outbreak is confirmed by the higher level. 
  • Responsible for daily health education program, based on selected topics alongside HEWs.
  • Assess, identify and effectively utilize community-based communication plat forms for health promotion and disease prevention by engaging HEWs in the area.
  • Provide health education with public health officer while the rest of the team are organizing the service provision.
  • Develop the movement plan of the team, compile weekly and monthly activity report or delegate the task, monitor supply utilization and request replenishments (monthly).
  • Liaise with local authorities, represent the team in meetings and be responsible with all communications of the team.
  • Do active surveillance with other stake holders
  • Coordinate the WaSH/ IPC activities (Latrine construction, Sanitation campaign, Waste management, Hand washing facilities and Water quality test
  • Conduct other activities given by the zonal health office, health facility leader and supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree (BSc level or above) in the fields of bachelor science degree from an accredited/recognized institute with certified professional license from authorized offices.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel….)
  • Experience in emergency response/similar setting will have an added value.
  • Fluency in local language is desired.
  • Thorough understanding of case management and social work
  • Good communication skills with different stakeholder
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Position 2: Health Officer

Salary Grade: The recruitment type is service delivery contract with monthly fixed payment at gross amount of 27,857 ETB and non-taxable communication allowance of 500 ETB. Specific responsibilities

  • Provide day to day service delivery in the assigned IDP site or health facility
  • Work at adult OPD and manage all cases above 5 years old (NCDS, Communicable Diseases)
  • Act as medical consultation for all medical cases encounter by the team.
  • Support the team and activities coordination and act as co team leader.
  • Conduct other activities given by the zonal health office, health facility leader and supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of university degree (medical doctor or HO) from an accredited/recognized institute with certified professional license from authorized offices.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel….)
  • Experience in emergency response/similar setting will have an added value
  • Fluency in local language is desired
  • Thorough understanding of case management and social work

Specific responsibilities

Position 4: Psychosocial support expert (6)

The payment will be done after the confirmatory letter from their assigned district which will be approved by regional health bureau.

 Number of positions: 6

Specific responsibilities

  • Provide day to day service delivery in the assigned IDP site or health facility
  • Provide psychosocial support for the community (mental Health education, Screening, Counseling, diagnosis and refer)
  • Provide emergency psychosocial therapy to cases at working site.
  • Provide onsite psychosocial training for health workers and community volunteers.
  • Conduct other activities given by the zonal health office, health facility leader and supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • First degree in clinical psychology or social work/health or related fields with relevant training on psychosocial support who graduated within the last 24 months.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel….)
  • Experience in emergency response/similar setting will have an added value
  • Fluency in local language is desired
  • Thorough understanding of case management and social work
  • Good communication skills with different stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure

Position 5: BSC Nurse (12)

Required number: 12

Specific responsibilities:

Provide day to day service delivery in the assigned IDP site or health facility

  • Working at Under 5 OPD.
  • Responsible all nutrition screening activities (screening, Treatment)
  • Link to SC, OTP and TFP based on the nutritional status of the children.
  • Provide Technical support to health workers and HEW working at the nearby SC and OTP.
  • Provided Vitamin A and deworming.
  • Provide nutrition services on infant, young and child feeding in Emergency.
  • Provide EPI services.
  • Provided Vitamin A and deworming.
  • Counselling on IYCF-E packages including advice for breast feeding
  • Conduct other activities given by the zonal health office, health facility leader and supervisor.

Position 6: Research Capacity Advisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Post graduate degree in Public Health or Master’s Degree in epidemiology or Health related fields with Eight to nine years’ experience.
  • At least five years’ experience in research and related activities. 
  • Ability to design, process and analyze data using one or more of the following statistical software packages: SPSS, SAS, Epi-Info, Stata
  • Ability to design and implement electronic data collection applications: CommCare, ODK, Kobo ToolBox, etc.
  • Technical skills in Research, including at least four of the following:
  • Applied evaluation or research
  • Design and implementation of evaluation protocols
  • Translation of complex data systems and results into understandable lessons learned and action priorities for programmatic and other technical staff
  • Research/evaluation related to quality improvement approaches to strengthen service delivery
  • Support M&E team in designing, collecting, writing, reviewing and/or editing Monitoring, Evaluation and learning data for donor reporting and presentations and in providing technical assistance to USG-funded programs with emphasis on maternal, newborn and child health
  • Experience in developing successful, replicable and sustainable research related programs
  • Fluency in English and Amharic (written and spoken)
  • Familiarity with international donor policies and administrative procedures, and experience in design and implementation of overseas health programs
