Marie Stopes International Ethiopia would like to invites competent and qualified candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Anaesthetist

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the MSIE Specialty Centre Manager, Anaesthetist assesses pre-operative patient, provides anesthesia and carries out intra and post anesthesia patient care. Ensures that all the required inputs for anesthesia administration are readily available and the machine is always in working conditions.

DUTIES/TASKS

  • Takes patient / client history for pre-anesthetic assessment, examines and gives the necessary precautions before operation in consultation with the gynecologist/ obstetrician.
  • Ensures that the anesthesia unit is equipped with the necessary machineries, equipment, medication and supplies.
  • Keeps the centre’s resources in orderly and cost-effective manner.
  • Follows patients in intensive care unit that require his/her skill in collaboration with other health professionals.
  • Takes the leading role in providing anesthesia for patients undergoing operation in collaboration with the obstetrician / gynecologist and other team members in the operation theatre.
  • Makes sure the patient / client are given the necessary preoperative care including consent and appropriately handover to the concerned team for post-operative care.
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports to his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Make an on-time report for the clinical incident happened in the center as per the guideline of MSIE.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Qualification Requirements

Education:

BSc in Anesthesia

Work Experience:

Four years directly relevant experience

Skills, Attitudes and Attributes

Good Communication skills

Good skill to evaluate patients to ensure their capacity to withstand and go through the Anastasia procedures.

Ability to make logical and timely decisions

Special Training in Anaesthetic

Position 2: Gender Advisor

DUTIES/TASKS:

 Embed gender approaches into outreach and project activities

  • Work closely with the grant, proposal development team, and the DCD for programs in program and project designing, document review, and report review of the gender sections.
  • Work closely with support office departments to ensure that Owning their Future project staff and MSIE team members, in general, understand gender and the importance of working to achieve gender equality within MSIE
  • Work with area offices units to develop gender-sensitive and gender transformative resources and approaches to awareness-raising and service delivery under the MSIE outreach model
  • Work with all MSIE departments to develop a Gender Equality Strategy for the organization, with specific interventions to be implemented by Owning Their Future project through an outreach program.
  • Engage in and provide recommendations to integrate gender-responsive approaches in the design, development, and implementation of the Owning their Future project work plans
  • Increase collaboration between outreach field teams, government health offices, and other partners to conduct community dialogues and educative sessions which address myths and misconceptions and gender barriers to accessing family planning methods and gather information on community perceptions on family planning and share with MSIE teams
  • Innovate, design, and oversee cost-effective youth and adolescent engagement activities which will increase awareness of gender issues relating to SRH/FP within the project intervention areas.
  • Coordinate project evaluation ensuring the inclusion of gender equality aspects in the project activities
  • Engage in designing, planning, and implementing gender advocacy strategy, activities, and behavior change and communication campaigns for the stakeholders and the community.
  • Provide administrative, logistics, and other necessary support and advice during the execution of project activities or events.

Embed gender approaches throughout the organization

  • Design and conduct Training and Training of Trainers in gender across the organization.
  • Innovate, design, and oversee cost-effective community activities which will address negative socio-cultural and gender-related to reproductive health including, family planning, MSIE brand, and all other MSIE services, and create a positive image within the community
  • Act as the key advisor on gender and gender equality strategy within the organization and with relevant stakeholders.   
  • Assess the needs of MSIE programs and their deliverables, and tailor appropriate gender equality approaches and solutions in a manner that is collaborative and client-focused.
  • Provide advice and support to all MSIE channels to ensure that activities are designed in a gender-sensitive or gender-transformative way and that no MSIE activities reinforce negative or harmful gender norms.
  • Work with the research team to design and implement innovative engagement techniques and research methods that facilitate the capture of varying community views, perceptions, or practices in relation to gender to strengthen programming.
  • Ensure that gender data are well captured, analyzed, stored, and put into use for MSIE programming, community awareness, sensitization, lobbying, and/or advocacy.
  • Work with Research and Monitoring and Evaluation teams to capture, document, and share lessons learned testimonials, and case studies to improve gender equity throughout MSIE and its program activities.
  • Work with external relations team to develop gender-sensitive/transformative materials for promotion, awareness, and sensitization around SRH

External representation

  • With MSIE’s external relations lead, represent MSIE in various SRH and gender networks and movements, and actively participate in advocacy activities
  • Maintain strong team relationships among key stakeholders, leaders, and community groups, on a formal and informal basis, across all community functions
  • Represent MSIE in various meetings, events, initiatives, and dialogues and ensure MSIE visibility is maintained.
  • Work closely with other Gender Advisors across the global partnership and Gender Working Group to foster learnings and best practices.

Qualification Requirements

Education:

 MSc in Gender or Social Studies

Work Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in gender-related project design/management and/or advocacy, preferably in the health organization or reproductive health &family planning, in working with youth and women and their groups in the areas of health promotion.

Strong experience in preparing and delivering presentations in relevant stakeholders

  • Understanding major policies/issues of large bilateral/multilateral donors, government policies, and regional policies;
  • collaborative approach to team working;
  • Strong personal commitment to the goals of MSI and to put it into practice;

Position 3: Driver Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, the Driver Mechanic drives vehicles, ensures that the vehicle is in good working conditions, keeps the tools safely, keeps the vehicle clean and presentable, and ensures the timely annual inspection and road-worthiness certificate acquisitions, records daily movement mileages.

DUTIES/TASKS

Drives the vehicle assigned to him safely, with strict observance of traffic rules and regulations and the organization’s internal policy;

Ensures that the vehicle is utilized for the sole purpose of the organization’s work;

Checks and ensures the timely filling and rational use of   fuel and oil supplies to the organization’s vehicles;

Ascertains that the necessary appliances (spare tyre, fire extinguisher, tools, etc.) are readily available in the vehicle;

Ensures proper cleanliness, maintenance, servicing repair and safe keeping of the vehicle.

Ensures the annual inspection of the vehicle before the set deadline.

Distributes/collects letters, packages, parcels and messages on behalf of the organization;

Fills in fuel and oil consumed and kilometre readings before and after any travel on appropriate transport forms and submits same to his/her immediate supervisor;

Fills up the vehicle log book accurately and submits it  on regular basis to the transport supervisor;

Informs to his/her supervisor any incident or safety problems faced up on travel immediately;

Conducts standard checks of the vehicle every day before operating and ensures that regular maintenance work is carried out at recommended Km reading.

Performs related tasks as required

Qualification Requirements

Education:

 Diploma in Auto mechanics or 10+2 certificate with 3rd Grade Driving License

Work Experience:

 Two years of experience for Diploma and four years for 10+2 certificate

Skills, Attitudes and attributes

Good sense of cleanliness;

Knowledge about vehicles operations;

Good knowledge of the main roads and side roads around the work areas.
