Position 1: Laboratory Technician
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect samples, including performing phlebotomy and conducting home visits to patients unable to travel to health facility, and conduct routine laboratory investigations for patients.
- Receive, label and analyze samples (blood, stool, sputum, Urine etc.)
- Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
- Communicate findings to clinicians and file reports while ensuring confidentiality.
- Process specimens to be sent to outside laboratories and do follow up as required
- Maintain quality control of specimen samples
- Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
- Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria, including universal precautions, are met; manage waste as per good laboratory practices.
- Ensure biomedical equipment is in good working order by using in accordance with user manual and protocols, perform cleaning and minor maintenance and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning
- Responsible for departmental materials management including requisition and ensuring appropriate consumption to maintain departmental inventory levels
- Develop and conduct CMEs for medical staff as required
- Ensure that medical practices are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
- Ensure direct reports have clear objectives, receive mentorship and participate in capacity building opportunities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary procedures as per MTI policy
- Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Days & Hours: Monday-Sunday, 40-48 hours/week as per duty roster. May include weekends, night shifts and public holidays

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
If Health Facility: This position requires work at health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions. If Field Office or Addis Ababa Office: This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions. Required to drive long distances on unpredictable or unknown terrain in various weather climates. This may include driving on under developed local roads or very busy roadways.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- BSC in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
- Valid practicing license is required.
- Additional qualifications in Laboratory Management is an added advantage
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is required for Degree and 4 years progressive for a Diploma holder.
- Experience working with an international NGO is an added advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of light vehicle driving in Ethiopia is required
- Clean driving record is required
- Experience driving an ambulance and working with an international NGO is an added advantage
KNOWLEDGE
- Thorough knowledge of laboratory practices
- Knowledge of how to operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of hygiene management and IPC protocol
SKILLS
- Skilled in performing routine laboratory investigations and interpreting results.
- Skilled in developing and conducting training.
- Good communication skills, with good command of written and spoken English.
- Skilled at using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
ABILITIES
Analytical with attention to detail
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and test results.
Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct

Position 2: HR and Admin
JOB SUMMARY
To provide the day-to-day MTI HR and Admin support in Amhara Field Office to ensure quality health care services for Refuge , internally displaced peoples and host community in Amhara Ethiopia. This position will be responsible for ensuring proper implementation of HR activities and assist in recruitment, benefits, performance management, and staff development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assist and disseminate requests for local positions through all available networks
- Coordinates the recruitment process of new staff and manages their induction to the organization –
- Assist in Conducting reference and background checks on possible candidates.
- Prepares appointment letters and contracts for staff and contractors.
- Maintains and tracks all personnel records and databases.
- Acts as administrative liaison between field office in Afar and Addis.
- Assist in disciplinary cases finding and ensure cases are handled according to MTI policy and legal requirements.
- Provide support and translation services when needed within the office.
- Act as the point of contact for HR issues at Amhara Field Office and ensure that all HR paperwork is promptly submitted to MTI Addis.
- Ensure that all locally sourced staff and volunteers have valid contracts.
- Support all other administrative tasks needed in Afar to ensure positive and high impact programs are implemented in a timely and efficient manner.

- Assist the logs team with travel, hotels, and flights for staff in transit when needed.

EXPERIENCE

- Prior experience working with INGO.

Position 3: Finance Officer
Essential Duties:
- Ensure all payment requisitions presented have sufficient support documents and are arithmetically accurate, correctly coded and fully authorized in line with the MTI finance manual before payment is made.
- Assists in payroll preparation by providing relevant data, such as absences, separation, new appointments and sick leave
- Issue cash payments, with approval from Field Coordinator or designate
- Responsible for the office cash by ensuring secure custody, complete and accurate record is held at all times, and requests for replenishment are made in a timely manner.
- Maintain a record of all transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations.
- Maintain proper filing of finance vouchers and records in hard copies for future reference. After verification reviews, he/she will ensure that they get returned to their archives.
- Coordinates HR projects, meetings and trainings, as delegated
- Provides orientations for new employees by sharing on-boarding information and explaining MTI policies
- Collaborates with Admin/HR Officer to post job adverts and process incoming CVs
- Implements and follow up for all HR/Administration orders and procedures including data updates, staff attendance in the field and follow up on staff performance reviews
- Coordinates preparation of work timesheets and ensure their signed by the relevant managers
- Support in the preparation of project reports and any other financial reports
- Provide technical support to non-finance staff on financial policies and procedures.
- Verify with Logistics Department that the asset register agrees with physical assets and complies with MTI policy
- Participate in the preparation of cash flows and budget requirements.
- Ensure Statutory deductions, payments and remittance reports are done by designated deadlines.
- Liaise with supervisors and managers to collect timesheets.

WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years of work experience in Finance & Accounting for Diploma holder or 1 year of work experience in Finance & Accounting for bachelor’s degree holder
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of non-profit accounting
- Basic knowledge of payroll and voucher payment coordination
- Desired: Knowledge of ERP systems and computerized accounting software such as Sage, Unit4, etc.
SKILLS
- Excellent skills using Excel, familiar with other Microsoft programs including Teams.
- Skilled in explaining financial procedures to non-finance staff.
- Skilled in maintaining payroll data for monthly payments.
- A good command of both written and spoken English, with strong interpersonal skills.
