Position 1: Rangeland Management Specialist -RLP
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, such as Animal Production and Rangeland management, natural resource management, Economics, Entrepreneurship or similar; Master’s degree in Business, Economics or Agri-business or other related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience implementing participatory Rangeland management through system strengthening & engagement, market systems development.
- Demonstrated experience working with and building the capacity of traditional rangeland governance institutions.
- Preference for candidates with field and technical experience working with local communities and designing system strengthening and resource management programs.
- Experience coordinating multiple activities, developing synergies and creating opportunities for collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder relationship cultivation and management, driving partnership agreements, and strengthening effective coordination for achieving program goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to local capacity building and the ability to engage local stakeholders in project design and implementation.
- The position requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, a relationship builder, Innovator, a coach and a political economist.
- Demonstrated proficiency with the MS Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Persuasive written and oral communication in English, including report writing, competency in a relevant local language (Somali) is essential.
- Experience in Somali region in Ethiopia and specifically in the target Corridor with local language is preferred.

Position 2: NRM & Climate Services Specialist (Re-advertisement)
General Position Summary
Under the leadership of the NRM & Climate services Coordinator, the NRM and Climate Services Specialist is required to manage the climate risk solution of the program in promoting participatory NRM, early warning and disaster risk management. This position requires someone who understands the role of culture and local communities in managing climate-based information and has deep experience in facilitating participatory early warning committees to develop plans to strengthen the community’s resilience against drought.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Natural Resource Management or other related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Desirably: master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Climatology, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or other related field
- A minimum of five years of experience in relevant sectors like DRR, NRM, Livelihood, EW,etc
- Experience in conducting CVCA and ion of Participatory Scenario Planning, specific experience in Somali Region is a benefit.
- Analytical skill and good research background
- Fluency both in English and Somali is required
Success Factors:
- Fluent in English and Somali languages (capable in all require basic skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing);
- Business minded, entrepreneurial, adaptive, curious, great problem-solving skills, unafraid to ask questions, and results motivated.
- He/She will be a tolerant and flexible individual able to work in difficult and stressful environments and follow procedures.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and networking skills with a wide range of private, partner and NGO-sector actors.
- Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Position 3: Finance Assistant
Knowledge and Experience:
- Three years and more progressive experience in the non-profit organization and mainly experience gained in the INGO is required.
- Experience working with WFP and USAID/DFID grants at least for two years
- Diploma/First Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline. Compensating Education + Experience can be considered.
- Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly in Excel
- Prior management experience and strong organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written English skills
Success Factors:
- Must be confident, self-starter, an independent thinker and have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skill; team oriented
- Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel, Work, and Outlook)
- Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel is required; demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse group of people
- High professional standard of administration ethics as well as willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral are required.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and appropriate flexibility.
- Emotional maturity and physical stamina.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Matrix Reporting
- Willing to travel to Mercy Corps field offices and project sites , when required

Position 4: Finance officer
General Position Summary:
Working in the Finance Department of Gambela under the direction of Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer will assist in the accounting and documentation of all financial transactions in timely and accurate manner. Finance Officer will be based in Gambela; have shared responsibilities for the Gambela Coordination office but with particular focus for the finance and accounting of Gambela iga field office.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Two or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including experience with double-entry accounting
- A degree in accounting or a relevant business field
- Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with computerized, double-entry accounting software
- Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- Qualified women candidates are encouraged to apply
Success Factors:
A clear understanding of finance and procurement ethics as well as the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential. The ability to interact effectively with international and national staff members is required. A demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary.
