Position 1: Light Vehicle Driver
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate MC vehicles as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain vehicle log-sheets in accordance with MC policies/regulations.
- Check the vehicle conditions after each trip/routinely – report needs and problems to transport management.
- Adhere to all safety and communication protocols as advised by Mercy Corps and supervisor.
- Responsible for the safekeeping of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, spares etc.
- Keep the vehicle ready, clean and on standby – ready for use at all times.
- Assist, as required, with logistics in the office and guesthouse daily workloads.
- Cooperate and be of assistance to staff and visitors – assist in troubleshooting potential problems during daily business.
- Report all maintenance needs of the vehicle to transport management on a regular basis.
- Undertake field assignments as assigned.
- Adherence to all MC policies and procedures as outlined in MC policies and procedure manuals.
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in country of operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- 3rd Grade or above Valid Driving License.
- High school Graduate
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Driver, preferably in an International NGO.
- Experience in repairing Vehicles (Auto background) is an advantage.
- Ability to communicate in both Amharic & English languages and knowledge of other local language is preferred.
- Knowledge of routes, duty stations, project areas, the NGO and diplomatic community is required.

Position 2: Senior Infrastructure engineer re-advertisement
General Position Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, design, and implementation of all water infrastructure development on RIPA’s Water Security Crisis Modifier, with a particular focus on the planned river water offtake and treatment and/or deep boreholes. This will include providing technical recommendations for expansion or modification of existing water infrastructure within the target zone. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing all consultancy activities related to infrastructure/construction and developing the technical capacity of government and other program partners, ensuring the effective and efficient use of the program resources and ensure agreed objectives are delivered on time. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will ensure adequate supervision of construction activities and take corrective measures appropriately and in line with MC and donor requirements.
Job Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- BSc, or master’s degree, in civil engineering (or related field) with significant knowledge and experience in the design and construction of large-scale water and sanitation facilities
- At least 8 years of experience in design and construction of various urban water supply infrastructure projects, including water treatment, and feacal sludge management facilities projects and work in urban environments.
- Experience in Managing FIDIC contract with successful records preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel and to be a neutral party with people of different perspectives and backgrounds.
- Experience in managing contracts with engineering design consultants, and construction firms.
- Experience in reviewing tenders and developing recommendations for award.
- Strong construction management experience including ability to review contractor work plans, budgets, and work progress.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action to not delay program activities.
- Strong ability and demonstrated experience in mentoring and building high performing engineering teams.
- Knowledge and experience of USAID funded projects is a plus.
- Prior experience working for/with INGOs is a plus.

Position 3: Storekeeper
General Position Summary:
The storekeeper will ensure smooth operations of Mercy Corps warehouses and manage the receipt, dispatch, and inventory keeping of all goods that entered the storage facilities. Through implementing Mercy Corps Warehousing procedures, the warehouse assistant ensures that all inventories/commodities will be accounted for in accordance with Mercy Corps and donor requirements.
Job Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Accounting, Management, Business Administration or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in warehouse management or store management
- Local languages- Speaking Afaan Oromo is COMPULSORY
- Previous work experience with a non-governmental organization especially Mercy corps in the area of community work.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Organized, reliable, and good communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English and Local Language fluently
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team

Position 4: Finance Manager
General Position Summary
The Mercy Corps Finance Department is responsible for all financial functions, including accounting, payments and banking, payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, and grant financial management and compliance. The Mercy Corps Finance Department ensures compliance with donor regulations as well as Mercy Corps’ internal policies and procedures. In its role as a support to the Program Department, the Finance Department provides timely reports and assistance to the Country Director and the Program team to ensure that financial and finance linked resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.
Working in the Finance unit, under the direction of the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will be responsible on the day-to-day routine tasks of the Finance Manager role as well as monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. He is expected to produce reliable, accurate and timely financial report/information for all stake holders involved in. The post holder should be forward looking, self-driven operating under minimum supervision, and critical thinker in senior management role. Furthermore, considering the various expected systemic changes in future, the post holder should be forward looking, change oriented and able to develop/train the team capacity in the changing environment.
Job Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- A BA/S or equivalent in accounting or finance is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant field or management experience in complex, multi-dimensional programming, including administering small subawards in an international environment.
- At least 4 years’ experience in grant management as well as an understanding of USAID regulations are required.
- Demonstrated experience and skill with administrating solicitations for subawards, assessing potential subrecipients and the proven ability to oversee a team that is responsible for monitoring subrecipients.
- Strong skills and experience working with donors to obtain approvals and waivers as necessary for compliance with donor regulations.

General Position Summary
Mercy Corps is seeking candidates for a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist who will support and lead the MEL Activities of The Resilience in Pastoral Areas (RiPA) programs in the Somali region. This will require close cooperation with the RIPA Cluster Coordinator, technical field-level staff, the CLA team at field level, the MEL Specialist, CLA Lead, and MEL Manager in Addis Ababa, as well as partners and stakeholders.
He or she will work closely with the CLA Lead, RIPA MEL Manager, and RIPA MEL Specialist to coordinate the collection, compilation, consolidation, and analysis of data, while monitoring in the Somali region. He/she will lead the RIPA MEL system for indicator tracking and reporting, including evidence gathering, reflective practice, lesson learned generation, success story documentation, and dissemination; and the implementation of communication and feedback mechanisms with RiPA partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, statistics, monitoring and evaluation, international development, communications, or related field is required or demonstrated equivalent work experience in the field.
- Three to five years relevant field management experience, especially in the areas of monitoring and evaluation and learning and knowledge management;
- Strong management skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues.
- Previous experience working on USAID funded programs strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience and ability to professionally and appropriately represent the organization and negotiate with a diverse range of government officials, local organizations, donors and other groups for outcomes in the best interest of program implementation
- Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills are necessary
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including report development, writing and editing.

- First Degree or, preferably, a master’s degree in business administration, Accounting, finance, or a related discipline. Compensating Education and Experience can be considered.
- Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly in Excel
- strong organizational skills
- Prior grant management experience will be a plus
- Excellent oral and written English skills.
