Position 1: Gender and Safeguards Officer
Job Summary
Project Title: Preventing Forest Loss, Promoting Restoration, and Integrating Sustainability into Ethiopia’s Coffee Value Chains and Food Systems (FOLUR)
Position Title: Gender and Safeguards Officer
Location: Addis Ababa, and travel to project regions and woredas whenever needed.
Position Type ‘Employment: Contract
Salary: As per the FOLUR project scale
Expected Duration: One year with possible extension based on performance and availability of funds
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gender Action and Coordination:
- Lead the delivery of Output 4.5 and ensure gender-related elements are integrated across all components and levels of project implementation.
- Oversee, develop, and coordinate all gender-related work.
- Perform context-specific woreda-level gender analysis and participatory action planning during the project setup phase to inform the Gender Action Plan.
- Implement the Gender Action Plan to mainstream gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout the project.
- Conduct a gender impact study for the entire project and provide gender recommendations for the Sustainability Plan.
- Provide training on women’s empowerment and gender equality for contract holders, NGOs, and project-supported posts.
- Contribute to the design of a women’s capacity development program in collaboration with holders of Technical Contract B.
- Conduct annual reviews of the Gender Action Plan and update management plans as needed.
- Monitor the implementation progress of the Gender Action Plan, ensuring all targets are met and reporting requirements are fulfilled.
Job Requirement
REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or above in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Gender & Development, Environment & Development, Geography, Rural Development, Environmental Law, Environmental Economics, Disaster Risk Management Studies, or related fields.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional or equivalent experience in project management, gender mainstreaming, environmental and social safeguarding/protection in development projects focusing on agriculture, natural resources management, land management, and related sectors.
- Experience in project management and community engagement.
- Strong knowledge of international standards and best practices in gender equality and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication, training, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proven written, analytical report writing and presentation skills and demonstrated computing skills.
- Good command of English, including the ability to write and speak effectively.
- Organizational and time-management skills including ability to plan organize and effectively implement activities.

Position 2: – Driver
Job Summary

DETAIL FUNCTIONS
- Provide driving service to the FOLUR Project Manager.
- Provide driving service to the PMU staff and FOLUR-relevant personnel on project business, at the FOLUR Project Manager’s approval – with such approval captured in the vehicle logbook.
- Keep vehicle logbook with complete and up-to-date record of all trips and mileage completed.
- Ensure the vehicle is filled with fuel, serviced and maintained.
- Perform regular safety checks on vehicle.
- Undertake trips outside Addis when required, at the FOLUR Project Managers approval.
- Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip.
- Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions.
- Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable.
- Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
- Book car wash and detailing services to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the car
- Keep a smooth working relationship with the project staff.
- Adhere to all applicable government driving regulations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the FOLUR Project Manager
Job Requirement
REQUIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE
- Licensed, authorized and insured to drive the official project vehicle linked to the MoPD-based PMU in Addis Ababa
- Grade 10/12 and above education attainment levels.
- Hold minimum of 3rd level driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean track record.
- More than 8 years of driving experience.
- Demonstrated skills in basic motor vehicle maintenance.
- Willingness to drive a project vehicle to all project regions and woredas.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Respectful and flexible with working hours.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
