Position 1: Junior Quality control inspector
Job Description
Purpose:
Quality control Inspectors are responsible for controlling the process of BCL operation to ensure the Quality meets with JTI standards. In addition, they are responsible to inspect and test the quality of stem and lamina products. Moreover, Quality control inspectors collect samples and prepare composite samples to dispatch to ETP1 for the purpose of stem and lamina determination, CAS1, CAS3, chemical tests and moisture cross-checking determination.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Sample collection
Sample collection during the production process for stem and lamina, CAS1, CAS3, Moisture, chemical test and moisture cross-checking determination.
Samples preparation and dispatching
- Composite sample preparation for stem, lamina, CAS1, CAS3, chemical test and moisture cross-checking determination.
- Sample dispatching to ETP1 for stem, lamina, CAS1, CAS3, chemical test and moisture cross-checking determination.
Quality Equipment Operation
- Butt cut length measurement in BCL operation feeding line and give appropriate feedback to operator to maintain the quality in the BCL process.
- Grinding samples for moisture and chemical tests.
- Moisture measurement using Halogen Analyzer, recording results, giving feedback to operators, and following up the stability of the process.
- Moisture test for lamina and long stem production.
- Temperature measurement of the lamina and long stem products.
- OBJ measurement
Quality equipment handling and calibration.
- Proper cleaning of quality measuring equipment (QME) for the safety of the equipment.
- Proper handling of equipment accessories, operational manuals, guidelines, and work instructions.
- Follow-up of laboratory equipment of handling, functioning and reporting in case of any maintenance needed during failure.
- Calibration of equipment’s such as scale, thermometer laser, halogen analyzer, and others timely.
Other
Perform various tasks and issues as they arise and upon by supervisor’s request.
Job Requirements
Education:
Chemical engineering, process engineering, or industrial engineering from a recognized university.
Work Experience:
Work experience not required.
Knowledge:
Language- Fluent writing and speaking English.

Position 2: Junior Quality Assurance Inspector
Job Description
Purpose:
The responsibility of Quality assurance inspector involves sample preparation and chemical analysis in the chemical laboratory. They are testing the chemical content of green leaf and BCL tobacco samples and also determining the quality of stem and lamina products in the BCL operation process. in addition, Quality assurance inspectors are responsible for the dispatching of IS, CAS1, CAS3 and CPA samples to JTI units.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Chemical analysis
- Sample preparation for chemical analysis, stem and degradation tests.
- Solution preparation, standardization for chemical tests
- Cleaning of glassware after chemical analysis, drying and placing into the proper areas.
- Follow up of chemical storage.
Moisture tests
- HOV moisture analysis for cross-checking of halogen analyzer and other moisture measuring equipment.
- Bi-monthly HOV moisture analysis for the aim of collaborative study and utilizing the feedbacks appropriately.
Sample dispatching
Follow up on shipping samples from Hawassa and Robi and receiving the samples properly.
Dispatching of collected composite samples (CAS1, CAS3, and CPA) to the intended JTI units.
Lab equipment handling
- Proper handling of laboratory equipment, follow-up functioning, and reporting in case of any maintenance during failure.
- Proper handling of equipment accessories, operational manuals, guidelines, and work instructions in the appropriate place.
- Follow-up laboratory equipment calibration and implement their results during operational activities.
Other
Perform various tasks and issues as they arise and upon by supervisor’s request.

Education:
BSC Degree in applied chemistry, industrial chemistry, or chemical engineering.

Position 3: Agronomy Technician /Field/
Job Description
Purpose:
- Under close supervision, carries out promotional and awareness raising campaigns with farmers, registers farmers who want to be engaged in tobacco production, advices’ and supports Agronomy Associates /F.C./ in their day-to-day activities to establish cordial and good working relationship with farmers, ensures that farmers get all the necessary technical and material support in sustainable manner.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises the quality and the timely preparation of seed beds and ensures the preparation of adequate ideal tobacco seedling, ensures registration of adequate number of farmers who have preselected ideal farm land, ensures distribution of only ideal tobacco seedlings , issues & distributes fertilizer & other material supports w/t proper record and provide technical supports timely to farmers, and finally Ensures successful performance of his assigned area planned hectarage and wet leaf production volume.
- Works to establish respectful extension system with farmers to enable farmers to smoothly accept & apply all directions & advices’ given by the agronomic team.
- To enhance leaf production quantity & quality, ensures the adequacy of the land preparation prior to seedling distribution. Checks and ensures the proper and adequate application of cultural practices like correct spacing, proper transplanting, on time Irrigation, cultivation, fertilization, Ridging, weeding, proper pest control, timely topping, De suckering, ripping only ripe leaf by position, only buys clearly graded & bundled tied wet tobacco leaf, ensures proper handling & loading of wet tobacco leaf etc. Ensures implementation of MAS / minimum agronomic standards / of the above-mentioned operations on the nursery and on his assigned production areas.
- Ensures Clear separation/grading of 1st & 2nd grade before buying, ensures correct grades to the quality and correct net weight to the quantity of wet tobacco leaf during buying; submit neat green leaf buying sheet on time to his supervisor.
- Closely follow-up and ensures that Agronomy Associates and other workers are performing their daily duties as per given instructions and programmers’, works /ensures for respectful & long-lasting extension system with farmers.
- Makes proper, effective and economic use of assigned materials and properties, prepares & submit well organized reports about prepared lands, distributed seedling, fertilizer & other inputs, transplanted hectares, performed agronomic practices and performs related tasks as required.
Job Requirements
Education:
BSC or College Diploma in plant science or extension.
Work Experience:
Two (2) years for BSC degree holders and 4 years for College Diploma holders with experience in Agriculture /Agricultural Extension/.

Position 4: Pool Car Driver
Job Description
Purpose:
Under the supervision of Logistics & Fleet Supervisor, drives vehicles with a maximum of 45 seats; observes safety standards and traffic rules strictly; handles vehicles properly according to the Company Policy & procedures.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Drives small vehicles, Pick Ups, station wagons, minibuses & buses with a maximum of 45 seats.
- Transports authorized passengers and goods from place to place as instructed.
- Checks oil, fuel, water levels, Tyres etc. and ascertain that everything is in order prior to operating the vehicle.
- Ascertain that the vehicle is functioning properly while driving and report immediately to the supervisor any malfunctioning, breakdown or accidents; in case of accidents take measures according to company policy and procedures.
- Submit daily reports on Kilometers travelled, fuel consumed, travel destinations etc. as per procedures & instructions.
- Keeps custody of local tools and accessories necessary for changing tyres or making minor repairs.
- Observes strictly traffic rules and regulations; ensures safe driving all the time.

Grade 8 and 4th grade driving license.

Position 5: Leaf processing Shift Supervisor /Packing Line/
Job Description
Purpose:
- The position exists to take charge of lamina and by-product packing area as per the set standards and procedures.
- Perform work in accordance with company policies and procedures, ensuring work is done in a manner that will not risk individual personal health and safety, colleagues, company assets, business performance and will not harm the environment. This includes proposing changes, where opportunities for improving performance, failure reductions, or increased efficiency and reducing risks are identified, and promptly reporting accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe acts and situations and any other hazardous situations observed.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Occupational Health & Safety
- Ensures that a risk assessment is carried out and work permits are issued out accordingly.
- Ensures that PPE is available and is being used by the workers effectively.
- Ensures that safety dialogues are being conducted at least a minimum of 2 per individual per month and recorded in the system.
Quality Management
- Continuously monitor the quality of product, packaging and proactively correct any deviations from the set standards.
- Account and reconcile for all NTMs drawn from stores and product packed and periodically produce and share NTM usage report.
Machine Operation
- Ensure the right preparations and resources for operations including people, equipment and processes are in place to achieve yield, quality, safety and productivity targets and objectives. This includes ensuring proper machine setup and data recording, conducting periodic checks on machinery, identifying areas for troubleshooting during machine operation and proposing ways to improve.
Environmental Management
- Keep factory area of responsibility clean by actively participating in daily cleaning, general cleaning and off season activities. Ensure that spillage product is well segregated with dust and clean product is reintroduced into the processing line.

People Management

Quality Management:
- Prepare tobacco to the blending area from warehouse prior commencement of production run.
- Check and make sure that engineering artisans have fixed correct tipping knives set up and arrange the grades components according to blend ratio. NTRM is picked and segregated in all primary picking positions.
Issuing & Feeding
- Issue and reconcile C48’s to processing line by using Leaf Point system. Continuous monitoring and ensuring that NTRM free tobacco is being fed into the processing line consistently and in the right order and quantity and ensure that each feeding table index conveyor always has adequate tobacco.
Environmental Management
- Keep the factory area of responsibility clean by actively participating in daily cleaning, general cleaning and off-season activities. Ensure that spillage product is well segregated.

Position 7: Logistics & Fleet Supervisor
Job Description
Purpose:
- Under general supervision of the immediate supervisor, this position is established to support Leaf Operation and logistic activities.
- The position’s main activities are:
- Coordinating all logistics regarding leaf logistics, and proper follow up of procedures in warehouse operations in the locations.
- Supervise & Co-ordinate use of Vehicles, Truck Drivers and Fleet Associates are operational.
- Follow-up vehicles & trucks are maintained as per the maintenance standards in his/her respective area locations.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversee the transportation of agricultural inputs, local tobacco leaf delivery, wood etc. to and from Leaf Operation Centers using trucks and vehicles.
- Supervises the inventory management of various materials, tools, equipment, supplies received and stored in the warehouses and needed for the Leaf operations; ensures that stock items are protected from dirt, damage, fire, theft, etc.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of responsible for vehicle utilization & maintenance.
- Follow up and prepare LOCs cured leaf weekly stock and supply report.
- Provide monthly fuel usage and vehicle maintenance cost report and schedule the maintenance and repairs of vehicles.
- Coordinates warehousing and concerned managers for timely replenishment requests.

Education:
BA Degree in Supply Management, Accounting, Management.
