New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is a non-profit organization in Ethiopia working on development, women empowerment, gender equality, humanitarian responses, sexual reproductive health education, economic empowerment, and environmental protection interventions for over fifteen years. NMWEO is re-registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Societies Organization (ACSO) according to Organizations for Civil societies Agency Proclamation No.113/2019 with registration No. 0539.

Position 1: – Education Officer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the quality day-to-day implementation of the EHF (Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund) activities.
  • Works very closely with procurement and logistic and finance to deliver the project activities on time.
  • emergency-affected children accessing safe learning environments through the provision of classrooms rehabilitation, fumigation, disinfecting, decommissioning and cleaning
  • Facilitate to basic repairs and maintenance of classrooms, and school furniture.
  • Facilitate to education institutions with improved capacity to provide crisis-sensitive education and resilience-building activities.
  • Facilitate boys, girls and children with disabilities in affected communities that have received learning materials
  • Develop and deliver training programs for education personnel, local government sector authorities and communities to enhance their capacity in providing crisis-sensitive education and resilience-building activities.
  • Conduct Pre and post-Implementation Assessment with Active Participation of the Affected Population and Stakeholders Encouraging Their Feedback
  • Monitors the progress of the construction and  maintenance of  school facilities
  • Represents the NMWEO in any coordination meetings at the local level.
  • Drafts monthly reports based on the EHF template.
  • Work closely with the M & E officer to put in place mechanisms and processes for regular review of project data and learning.

Job Requirements

  • MA/MSC, BSC/BA in education, Special need education, Educational Planning and Management, Educational leadership, and/or social sciences with 2 year experience for MA/MSC, 3 years’ experience for degree holders,
  • Experience in working with government counterparts and other partners at regional and woreda level and NGO experience is a plus
  • Good understanding of the education sector in Tigray region.
  • Demonstrable experience in facilitation of training/workshops

Position 2: – Humanitarian Project Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the classrooms rehabilitation, fumigation, disinfecting, decommissioning and cleaning
  • Ensure emergency-affected children accessing safe learning environments
  • Coordinate and supervise the provision of Emergency Shelter and NFI
  • Monitoring and responsible for cash for emergency shelter assistance
  • Mainstreaming protection works in all clusters
  • Facilitating and monitoring Provisions of Dignity Kits
  • Coordinate and supervise all wash activities
  • Coordinate and Supervise construction of communal water points (e.g. wells, boreholes, water taps stands, systems)
  • Conduct capacity building training and community campaign

Monitoring and reporting:

  • Follow up timely submission of monthly report

Job Requirements

Position 3: – Communications Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate, edit, publish, and share content periodically (original text, images and video)
  • Build meaningful connections with stakeholders
  • Dialog and messaging the work of the organization on available platforms
  • Update and maintain organization’s website
  • Introduce, NMWEO and share information of events by using telegram, social media, whatsapp, twitter and etc.
  • Update profiles of the organization
  • Proper documentation and data management of target groups including case stories and best practices,
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing information and communication
  • Prepare information/replies to the request from partners and stakeholders,
  • Facilitate workshops meeting and trainings organized by NMWEO

Position 4: – Procurement and Logistic Officer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the compilation of service/procurement plan, collection of quotations, bid announcement and evaluation, in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated in the concerned Grant agreement.
  • Ensures availability of funding before the procurement order is placed in consultation with Finance and that NMWEO policies and procedures governing procurement of goods and services are strictly observed.
  • undertakes tender procurement process i.e. bid announcement, bid opening, agreement preparation, documentation and etc.;
  • Establishes and maintains records of vendor, purchase request, purchase order, receiving, shipping and all associated logs as required.
  • Supports the importation of goods and clearance through customs when there is a need, ensures adequate and suitable storage space is available for incoming commodities/goods.

  • Generates Purchase Orders and produce Vendor Master List in AX system.

Position 5: Protection Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all the Protection implementations are responsive to communities and partners and consistent with NMWEO’s relevant program guidelines, principles, values, quality standards, and strategic plans.
  • Make sure community approaches by integrated with protection, gender sensitivity, and capacity building are integrated into all activities as appropriate.
  • Ensure program implementation at ground level is on time, on target, and within budget, using effective M&E tools protection mainstreaming to reach desired impacts with quality with other projects.
  • Ensure all interventions adhere to NMWEO’s Policy, manuals, Do No Harm principles, and beneficiary accountability standards.
  • Coordinate and implement Protection project activities of the project.
  • Mentor and capacitate the Women and Social Affairs office and other protection frontline service providers on GBV, and psychosocial support interventions.
  • Conduct protection service mapping and coordinate with service providers to strengthen service provision and to support vulnerable children and GBV survivors to have timely and multi-sector response services as required.
  • Lead the community-level awareness sessions on GBV, and protection-related issues together with community volunteer workers.
  • Provide awareness to community members on basic protection principles, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) training, NMWEO safeguarding principles, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Lead and organize review meetings and other periodic meetings with community members, government representatives, and other humanitarian actors
  • Ensure that the protection referral and psychosocial support-related activities are properly implemented with all protection frontline service providers at the kebele and woreda level in collaboration with the women and social affairs office.

  • Facilitate in capacity-building trainings and workshops that focus on protection issues.

Team Management

  • Work with other humanitarian actors in the areas of kebele and woreda level and provide support to make sure to integrate basic protection principles during service delivery.
  • Coordinate with humanitarian actors and attend in periodic protection risk assessment and safety Audits and develop a joint strategy.

Influence & Representation

  • Represent NMWEO in different protection-related platforms and clusters, (Kebele and Woreda) levels and communicate what NMWEO is doing regarding protection and share lessons from other agencies as well.
  • Provide timely training and orientation community volunteers and make sure that they convey messages clearly to the community.
  • Coordinate with community volunteers, and other community structures in the area to provide information to community members on available services for GBV survivors, and other protection issues.

Position 6: Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep and record all vouchers and supporting documents in good order and in a safe place.
  • Record all cash transactions immediately in the account’s ledger.
  • Reconcile all cash transactions daily and record in a ledger
  • Collect all check pads and bank statements from the bank on time.
  • Prepare payrolls for the staff of NMWEO.
  • Prepare schedule of receivables, payables, fixed assets and budgets form subsidiary ledger   monthly

Position 7: Social Worker

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that beneficiaries of the project receive individual case management support by conducting assessments, action plans, direct psychosocial service provision, referrals, and follow-ups,
  • Act as a reference person for an assigned number of beneficiaries and follow up on their progress;
  • Along with the other team members, organize structured, group skills-building sessions to enable beneficiaries to enhance and/or develop their life/soft and transition skills;
  • Organize group activities and group thematic sessions in cooperation with other NMWEO  staff members;
  • Ensure that beneficiaries receive the appropriate services
  • Proactively identify any behavioral changes or issues the beneficiaries might have and complete the appropriate referrals to the psychologist or other external specialized services, as needed;
  • Ensure effective communication with relevant state and non-state stakeholders, such as UN agencies, Prefectures’ social services, other Integration actors and NGOs, and other EHF programs;

Position 8: Psychosocial Support Officer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support and Facilitation:
  • Assess the presence and application of the GBV guiding principles and basic capacity to respond to the needs of GBV survivors in the program areas.
  • Provide technical accompaniment and capacity building support staff.
  • Develop and update referral pathways in consultation with the GBV and GBV service providers.
  • Conduct Protection activities such as group based psychosocial support, outreach activities, case management, referral mapping and protection mainstreaming in collaboration with Senior protection officer.
  • Undertake a Protection Risk Analysis periodically to ensure Protection interventions and other sector interventions are addressing the needs of people with heightened protection risks with the integration of do no harm principles.
  • Coordinate with Woreda administration, local and international NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support for survivors, including comprehensive referral pathways.
  • Builds the capacity of the health and nutrition teams to respond to the needs of GBV survivors as appropriate.
  • Work with all the Health Program Managers and Project managers to ensure that protection mainstreaming principles are applied during all the phases of the project.
  • Provide technical support and supervise the application of protection mainstreaming in the field across different sectors and interventions.
  • Developing and conducting training packages for staff and affected communities on gender and protection-related topics.
  • Work with the program teams to identify and address gender equality issues specific to the team.
  • Raise awareness on reporting procedures and occasionally receive reports on PSEA, responding in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, providing referral, or next steps advice and support.

Planning, Reporting and Accountability:

  • Submit weekly and monthly progress update on the GBV and protection activities to the Emergency Coordinator.
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal and external reports by supporting the Emergency Coordinator in gathering relevant information from the field.
  • Assist the Emergency Coordinator and the MEAL officer in compiling the internal monthly report and sharing with head office.
  • Document and share lessons learned and success stories in relation to GBV and protection to inform future programming

Position 9: Child protection officer

Job Summary:

The Child Protection Officer is responsible for leading the technical input into Child protection Programs in the project area. This means that he/she is responsible for all the Child Protection program activities at camp level. It is expected that the CP officer ensures good quality in the technical aspects of our program, as well as good quality of our staff, our cooperation with other partners and the refugee community. This means active participation and coordination of activities on our Cluster, outreach work in the Refugee community and to ensure that our staff and volunteers are technical updated by providing training and coaching. The CP officer shall ensuring Family Tracing and Reunifications (FTR) of Unaccompanied Separated Children(UASC)and other EVSs, psychosocial support for children in need, case management, awareness activities and make sure that the activities at the Cluster is child friendly in all means. This includes representing Child Protection team/ program in interagency meetings at camp level and internal meetings at Shiraro, as well as working for empowering the existing community structure, the CP Staff and Refugee volunteers’ capacity building.

Position 10: Social Inclusion and Gender Officer

Job Summary:

Social inclusion and gender officer will be responsible for leading project implementation of social inclusion and Gender officer of EHF (Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund) project. The position holder will support and coordinate gender analysis and assured social inclusion in the project.  To ensure program activities result in positive outcomes for male and female participants of different age groups, she/he will have overall responsibility for building team members’ and partners’ capacity to integrate GESI perspective into activities. Overall S/he will be accountable for coordinating, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the GESI components of the Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund at project Shiraro.

Job Responsibilities:

  • planning, monitoring, and implementation: Involve in planning, implementation, budget management, and GESI components;
  • Ensure the implementation of GESI
  • Following GESI activities are implemented as per the Annual Activity and Budget Plan approved by the project
  • Provide technical advice to the project manager in the area of GESI
  • Ensure proper records are available to respond to the EHF result framework indicators
  • Produce and share progress reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) on the due date and submit them to the project office and Head office

  • 3 years related experience in a relevant position Preferably in NGO Setting
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint, and email communication.
  • High level of initiative-taking.
  • Training on gender mainstreaming, gender analysis, community dialogue facilitation skills is an added advantage

Language:

  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Knowledge of the local language of the intervention area is preferred.
