Ripple Effect (RE) is registered and licensed Foreign Charity. RE Ethiopia was established in March 2006 and works to see a rural Ethiopia that is confident, thriving, and sustainable, with a growing economy and higher living standards for all. RE focuses on three thematic areas; Farm Systems, Gender and Social Inclusion and Enterprise Development to help to combat poverty and works to create a rejuvenated and abundant African environment for both current and future generations. 

Ripple Effect would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Finance and Administration Officer

Required Qualifications:

BA degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Management, Secretarial Science, or other related fields; minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, Finance, and office administration.

Desirable Accounting, finance and office administration in a non-for-profit and/or international development setting.

Providing administrative HR support; ability to Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills with the ability to work across different cultures.

Ability to establish credibility quickly and maintain supportive relationships with staff, donors and other stakeholders.

Strong level of computer literacy, in particular Microsoft Office applications. Good written and spoken English communication.

Excellent organisational skills, with ability to plan and priories own workload; accurate attention to detail; ability to handle sensitive data and information with discretion and confidentiality; good team player; able and willing to travel to the field.

Location: Wolaita Sodo Town, Wolaita Zone

Position 2: Finance and Administration Assistant

Position 3: Water Resource Development Officer

Required Qualifications:

BSC degree in Water Technology, Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering, or other related fields from a recognized university and Three years of relevant experience of community development at field level; experience of gender sensitive planning in water and sanitation development and management at community level; experience in project monitoring at field level and quality report writing.

Experience with NGOs work; project proposal writing and learning from practice through project monitoring and reviewing.

The responsibility of the Water Resource Development Officer is to Ensure a good level of awareness and clear understanding of the importance of improved water and sanitation is created at project staff, Self-Help-Groups (SHGs), community and smallholder beneficiary household level; to ensure that assessments and identifications of possible water sources are made in the project community and develop them for efficient, equitable and sustainable use in the area; to ensure improved water and sanitation action plan with a corresponding budget is put in place and implemented (spring capping, hand dug wells, small irrigation schemes, water harvesting structures, latrine improvements, etc.)

Position 4: Project Manager/Project Coordinator

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration, development studies, Agriculture, or other related fields. 

Desirable Master’s in business administration, development business, Agriculture, or other relevant Masters’ programme.

Knowledge in extension services delivery.

Essential: at least three years in a management position; demonstrable strategic management and planning experience. experience of preparing, monitoring and managing budgets and work plans; experience in fundraising, proposal writing and development.;

Staff Management experience; experience in research and development;

 Knowledge of environmental good practice.

Desirable experience in NGO work; community development experience; experience in research and development.

Essential: strong leadership ability; excellent communication skills; good presentation skills; report writing skills; excellent interpersonal skills; strong networking skills.; able to participate on a policy level with government and other development partners; ability to identify funding opportunities; an initiator and self-driven; a team leader, builder and developer; a broad and mature thinker; a strategic thinker with an eye for detail; creative and innovative; a flexible team player; understands the importance of confidentiality; have empathy with Ripple Effect’s Christian foundation and core values.

Position 5: Natural Resource Management Officer

Required Qualifications:

BSc/MSc in NRM, or Agriculture or Plant Science or Agricultural Extension, or other related fields Three years of relevant experience with MSc or Five years of relevant experience with BSc on community development. And Experience of gender sensitive planning for NRM and Smallholder Agriculture development; Experience of project monitoring at field level and quality report writing, Experience of learning from practice through project monitoring and reviewing. Work experience with NGOs;

Experience of project proposal writing; Experience of Project implementation at field level; Knowledge of Improved Animal Management and Sustainable Organic Agriculture;

Skills in project planning, budgeting and managing;

Ability to understand and use effective systems for programme monitoring and reporting;

Ability of researching and innovative idea generation;

Ability of planning, organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at different levels;

Ability to establish credibility quickly and maintain supportive relationships with REE staff, project partners and other stakeholders;

High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multi-disciplinary team and across cultures and religions;

Ability to implement project activities with a result based approach; Ability to use self-initiatives and work with minimal supervision;

Strong ability to collate, analyse and disseminate information; Very good organizing skill with ability to prioritize;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Very good skill of written and oral presentation;

Very good command of written and spoken English,

Amharic and local language; Very good level of computer literacy.

Position 6: Improved Animal Management Officer

Required Qualifications:

BSc in Animal science, Animal Husbandry, Animal Breeding, Animal Production & Rangeland Management or any animal related fields Five (5) years of relevant work experience in the area of animal welfare and management particularly on equine welfare.

Experience of project monitoring at field level and quality report writing; Experience of project monitoring and reviewing;

Prior experience with NGOs working in the area agricultural extension, community development and other food security related issues with smallholder farmers;

Project management in the areas equine welfare & management;

Skills in project planning, budgeting and monitoring;

Ability of planning, organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at various levels (farmers, staff, stakeholders);

Ability to coordinate project activities with a result based approach;

Ability to use self-initiatives and work with minimal supervision;

Very good skill in organizing activity schedules with ability to prioritize;

High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to work across cultures and religions;

Ability to be innovative and generate new ideas.

Position 7: Gender and Social Inclusion Advisor/Officer

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in Social Work and Social Administration, development studies or other related field.

Desirable postgraduate training in gender and social development;

Community leadership and management; or rural development;

knowledge in extension services delivery who have 5-7 years’ experience at field level in Gender and social development; practical experience in implementing Gender projects in the field, and the associated documentation; experience of leading, supporting, managing, a team; experience of organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at different levels’ experience in a number of different approaches to extension and use of media for community learning.

Desirable experience in NGO work; experience of project proposal writing and fund raising;

Community development experience; experience in research and development in Gender.

Essential strong leadership ability;

Excellent communication skills;

Good presentation skills;

Report writing skills; excellent interpersonal skills;

Strong networking skills; able to participate on a policy level with government and other; development partners;

Position 8: Dairy Value Chain and Business Development Officer

Required Qualifications:

BA degree in Business Management, or other related fields from a recognized University and Five years’ relevant experience of Value Chain and Business development at field level and Experience of Business Development planning and management with a special focus on diary Value Chain Development.

The key responsivity of this position is to ensure a good level of awareness and clear understanding on dairy value chain and business development is created at project staff, SHGs, CLAs, beneficiary households and communities at large. To ensure development of dairy value chain action plan with a corresponding budget and its timely implementation in agreement with programme staff at SACE CPO;

To ensure knowledge and skill on Value Chain and Business Development become part of the practical life of the project Staff, SHGs, CLAs, beneficiary households and their communities at large.

Position 9: Agriculture Officer

Required Qualifications:

MSc or BSc in agriculture or other related fields from a recognized University and Minimum of 4 years for MSc and 5 years for BSc experience in agriculture and Community-based development The key responsivity of this position Develop and adapt project implementation procedures, systems and guidance in line with the project document;

Undertake agriculture assessments of target communities and households in collaboration with other project staffs.

Ensure optimal use of human resources, including promotion of team work and maintenance of team spirit;

Ensure adequate training of staff for knowledge and skills development in relation to agricultural activities;

Facilitate and lead the implementation of agricultural activities of the project in line with Ripple Effect Ethiopia’s operational policies and frameworks and donor regulations;

Ensure that the nutrition focused project takes into account community approaches, gender and child sensitivity in the context and needs of target families and communities in Wolaita Zone.

Ensure close participation of target families and relevant community groups in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes of the project.

Participate in overall strategic planning of Ripple Effect Ethiopia with respect to agriculture as and when needed

Position 10: Driver/Purchaser Jobs in Ethiopia

Required Qualifications:

A valid driving permit, a relevant certificate of education minimum Diploma in procurement or relevant field.

Essentially a minimum of 5 years’ experience driving vehicles; Experience of field work with ability to drive on difficult terrains and long distances; Experience of procurement of goods and services and liaison works; Defensive driving skills. Essential Skills Good communication and listening and interpersonal skills.; a good command of English and the main local language in the country based; the ability to quickly assess and take action for self and the safety of people or goods transported in situations such as accidents, emergencies or any security related matters; willing to work flexibly to travel long distances and at times working late hours.

The purpose/key responsibility to drive and transport Ripple Effect staff and other authorised passengers, goods and services, always ensuring the suitable mechanical and security condition of the vehicles, in line with Ripple Effect policies Collect Performa invoice on approved purchase requisition, in compliance with Ripple Effect’s procurement policies and procedure and performing liaison works as per the Ripple Effect regulation and as stipulated in this job description.

Drive staff and visitors using Ripple Effect vehicles to specified destinations such as offices and the field.

Deliver packages, goods, and mail to specified destinations and offices as required.

Assist in handling and managing Ripple Effect guests and visitors in line with training, meetings, workshops, field visits and programme review exercises.

Ensure the safety and security of all passengers (e.g., safety belts) before the start of any journey, and at all times while in the vehicle.

Check on a regular basis the vehicle condition (e.g. engine oil, water, battery, brakes, tyre pressure, licence, third party insurance, technical control certificate etc) prior to any journey.

Ensure vehicles are kept clean, secure and receive timely and adequate repair and maintenance.

Ensure appropriate and timely servicing of all movements, repairs as well as properly recording fuel consumption in the vehicle logbook.

Report all minor and major damages and accidents on the vehicle that need to be addressed to the supervisor as per Ripple Effect vehicle policies.

Receive approved purchase requisition and collect proforma invoice and submit to supervisor.

Collect purchased items from venders and submit to respective requesting units. Keep register of purchase requests and record status of all purchases.

Prepare required procurement status reports and submit to the supervisor.

Collect or drop mails, letters, packages, messages, courier, and hand-delivered items.

Handle liaising works with Government Offices and other organizations.
