Safaricom Ethiopia would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following position.
Position 1: System Engineer: VAS
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- BSc. Degree or equivalent in one of the following: Telecommunication Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ Electronics engineering/Computer Science/IT.
- 3+ years’ experience in IT / telecommunication environment or Software Engineering
- Good knowledge in VAS solutions including Messaging, Voice & Service Delivery Platforms
- Experience on development in Java
- Experience with REST API and microservices development
- Strong understanding of virtualization and container infrastructure technology
- Knowledge of Distributed Systems, analytics tools such and Python, Standard Query languages, Procedural Programming languages, Linux/Unix, Shell scripting
- Experience with JavaScript, JSON, XSLT, XML
- Knowledge in TCP/IP, IP Traffic Engineering, SS7 signaling, GSM MAP and SMPP Protocols
- Working knowledge in Unix systems and Databases – Oracle, MySQL.
- Deep understanding of 3GPP protocols and interfaces

Position 2: MPESA Consumer Saving and Credit specialist
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- At least Five (2) years’ knowledge and experience in a relevant field with at least three (1) in product management, product development, sales or business development
- Experience in Credit and Savings Products within financial services.
- Relevant Business or IT Undergraduate Degree or relevant field along with professional qualifications, or equivalent qualification(s) from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- MBA or relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Member in good standing of a recognized professional body.
- Superior business understanding, with the ability to leverage technology to solve business and technical issues.
- Strong stakeholder and strategic partners acquisition skills.
- Possess high professional and ethical standards.
- Be a strategic thinker with an analytical mind.

Position 3: Software Engineer: FinTech Operations
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- More than 2 years of experiences on MM system supports, development in banks , FinTechs, DFS and related areas.
- BSc or MSc in computer science , IT , Software engineering , any other related fields.
- Extensive knowledge of networking and system administration (Unix/Linux).
- Knowledge in ITIL Service Operations processes and Agile methodology.
- Proficient in database management skills on gauss DB, oracle, Postgres , MySQL, mongo DB, Cassandra and etc .
- Must have a technical knowledge on payment aggregator and payment gateway technologies like IPG, APIGEE , .
- Must have technical knowledge of core mobile money system or cloud payment systems.
- Strong understanding of both JSON, SOAP and development on swagger UI using open API’s.
- Experience developing solutions using agile, DevOPs, testing and CI/CD automation tools e.g., Jenkins, SonarQube, Git lab.
- Extensive knowledge of motoring tools like Splunk , Digital View , Grafana, Zabbix and others

Position 4: Database Administrator
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (often preferred)
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or equivalent mid-level database administration certification.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS)
- Proficiency in SQL and database querying
- Understanding of data security, encryption, and access control
- Ability to analyze and improve system performance
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Position 5: Data Center and Campus Network Planning Engineer
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Degree in Information Systems and Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, IT Computer Science or a closely related numerate discipline.
- Above 3 years’ experience in a busy I.T or Telecommunications environment –Involved in Strategy Modeling, Planning, Design, Implementation, Optimization and Support of Datacenter and Campus Networks environment.
- In-depth understanding of Arista Datacenter Networks environments is an added advantage.
- Router, Switches and NG firewall configuration and troubleshooting skills (Cisco, FortiGate, Checkpoint and Huawei)
- Load balancer configuration and troubleshooting skills (F5, Radware and Citrix)
- Mastery of IPsec Configuration and Troubleshooting Skills
- Network design and implementation experience, including working knowledge of IP addressing, TCP/IP Protocols, LAN, and WAN configurations.
- Knowledge in Telephony systems for Voice and Video Communications.
- CCNA or HCNA Network Certifications in any line (RS, Security, Wireless, Voice) is desirable

Position 6: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Graduate/Degree in computer science/Electrical Engineering /Information Technology or Engineering.
- 3+ years’ experience in Windows, Linux and cloud Infrastructure environment administration.
- Certification in RedHat Linux- RHCSA or RHCE.
- Certifications in VMware DC- VCP.
- Certification on Kubernetes (CKA)
- Good understanding of System Administration Techniques – e.g. OS Performance, Windows, Virtualization, Linux enterprise, server/ storage and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in Openstack and contarization platforms.
- Experience with Container/PaaS orchestration/management platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, CloudFoundry and Tanzu.
- Extensive knowledge of Virtual Network Functions
- Experience in Brocade SAN Platforms (SAN Switches and Storage).
- Experience in Cloud and Infrastructure environments.
- Good knowledge of Agile and its working ways.
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

Position 7: Specialist: Radio Network Optimization
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- BSc. Honors degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering with bias towards telecommunications.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to details, Communication and interpersonal skills, Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- 2 years’ experience in Radio Network Optimization environment.
- Practical knowledge on the use of radio planning tools and capacity planning toolsMySQL, M2000, NetAct, Advanced Excel, Erlang-B etc.
- SQL database queries and scripting. Python scripting for data manipulation, QGIS/Google Earth, MapInfo and crowd source analytics are an added advantage.
- Candidates with experience in Nokia, or Huawei 2G/3G/4G equipment will have an added advantage.
- Practical knowledge of all RATs and interoperability is a must.
- Thorough knowledge in traffic modeling, coverage and capacity forecasting & management.
- Knowledge of Core access planning, Paging and LAC dimensioning.

Position 8: Specialist CVM Development and Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data development, ETL workflows, or campaign platform operations.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, or equivalent container orchestration systems.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, FluxCD), Git-based workflows, and automation scripts.
- Strong knowledge of SQL/PLSQL, with ability to write and debug complex queries and stored procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Linux server administration and shell scripting for job automation and monitoring.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and deployment on virtualized or hybrid environments.
- Experience in monitoring tools, log analysis, and root cause analysis for system incidents.
- Understanding of customer lifecycle platforms, CVM campaign orchestration, and telecom marketing flows is a plus.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible) is highly desirable.
- Coding experience using Java/python/R/SQL/ PLSQL
- Experience in collecting, storing, processing and analysing large volumes of data.
- Proficient understanding of databases at the logical, physical, and conceptual levels

Position 9: Product Lead – Value Added Services (VAS)
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Commercial discipline from a recognized university
• Experience of 6 years in a high result-oriented organization with at least two in a mid-level managerial role in a commercial setting driving growth through products and innovation.
• Understanding of GSM and related Telecom Technologies and Platforms
• Ability to project manage cross functional teams with experience in leading agile squads to deliver a common mission.
• Problem solving and decision-making skills with customer first focus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with good listening, critical reasoning and analytical skills
• Team player with excellent influencing skills and high level of initiative and self-drive.
