Position: Office Engineer
Job Description:
Symbio is a project management and construction company, which aspires to unleash cutting‐ edge construction project management techniques and approaches. Symbio is the first of a new generation of project management companies in Ethiopia partnering with local and international companies. We specializes in project and construction management of various projects viz, branded hotels, luxury apartments, brand offices, and embassies. Our services mainly encompasses project management, construction management, value engineering, project auditing, and design management. Currently, we are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Office Engineers who aspires to develop their professional career in project and construction management mainly in Addis Ababa. The candidates are expected to learn fast and cope with the following activities or they are expected to have basic to satisfactory skill sets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Project Assistance
- Assist Project Manager(s) with the preparation and maintenance of construction schedules.
- Assist Project Manager with payment requisition review.
- Assist in project close‐out activities including the resolution of potential claims.
- Assist Project Manager(s) with any activities which helps the project to come to fruition.
Document Analysis
- Review, analyze and make recommendations for contractor’s claims.
- Review, analyze and make recommendations on BOQ and Cost Breakdowns.
- Review, analyze, establish, and maintain shop drawings, working drawings, and submittals.
- Analyze and recommend changes to contracts and prepare necessary amendments in contract document.
Document Tracking
- Initiate, prepare, review, track, post, and distribute Request for Information (RFI) and Variation Orders (VO).
- Maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs both in hard and softcopy on personal PC and online file management websites.
- Ensuring project documentation is processed in timely manner and is retrievable.
- Track, document, and manage project issues and conditions.
- Track and process all contract payments including price adjustments & claim settlements.
- Prepare Tender document, Tender Evaluation Report, and Contract documents.
- Track daily project reports.
- Receive, prepare, review, process, forward, and track status of submittals.
- Review and monitor contractor’s submittals and/or documentation.
- Maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs both in hard and softcopy on personal PC and online file management websites.
Document Preparation
- Prepare weekly and/or monthly project status reports.
- Prepare and maintain of action lists.
- Prepare final documents and closeout reports.
- Prepare and respond letters and emails.
- Prepare BOQ and Cost Breakdowns.
Meeting Management
- Track meetings.
- Send meeting invitation.
- Send meeting reminders.
- Attend project meetings.
- Record meeting minutes.
- Other related duties as assigned by his supervisors.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc. and above in Civil Engineering, COTM and related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Office Engineering experience.
- Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to review and process compliance requirements for construction projects.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic knowledgeable of construction materials, methods, and procedures.
- Basic Knowhow and working with contract documents, construction plans, and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and adapt fast.
- A person who is able to take intensive written exam after screening of CV.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Projects and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to manipulate and edit data and create reports.
- Proficiency in email communications and proficiency in MS Outlook.
- Strong client relationship management expertise.
- Strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding of construction plans, specifications, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and Contract Documents.
- Virtual & physical meeting management using Teams and Zoom.
