Tinaw Business S.C. is legally registered entity established in accordance with the Commercial Code of Ethiopia. Located in Guraghe Zone of the Central Ethiopian State the Company is currently engaged in the production and export of roses. The Company is committed to achieving higher standards by integrating Environmental Social Health and Safety (ESHS) considerations throughout its growth strategy with the objective of adhering to Good International Industrial Practices, and an adequate management system commensurate to its E&S risks.

Tinaw Business Share Company S.C would like to invite qualified and interested job seekers to apply for the following vacant position.

Position 1: Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Officer

Essential Functions:

  • Implementing ESHS management systems, policies and procedures, including the implementation of ESHS action plans (where relevant);
  • Ensure company compliance to its ESHS policies and procedure;
  • Report on month, quarterly and annual bases on ESHS policies/procedures implementation progress;
  • Manage the company’s compliance to international certifications, ensuring closure of annual audits on timely basis and implement recommended corrective action plans
  • Assessing gaps against ESHS requirements and policies and identify opportunities for value addition;
  • Organize training ESHS for company employees;
  • Ensure that ESHS rights are embedded in company-wide legal documents (where appropriate);
  • Regularly monitor company’s compliance with ESHS requirements and policies, including the implementation of agreed action plans and relaying findings to senior management;

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or Environmental Management (or equivalent fields);
  • Knowledge of industry trends and applicable legislation/regulation of the country and the ability to travel to multiple sites, often at short notice;
  • Trainable on farm ESHS activities
  • Proficient in English.

Personal skills:

  • Strong communication skills, including report writing (use of PowerPoint and diagrams to present information in a concise format) and oral communication.
  • Highly motivated and results driven.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and grow the skills of company employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and priorities a busy and diverse workload with a range of deliverable for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, collaborating and coordinating where appropriate.
  • Good judgment and attention to details.

Technical skills:

Familiar with international ESHS guidelines and references (e.g. IFC Performance Standards, World Bank EHS Guidelines, ILO Core Conventions);

Position 2: Farm Financial Controller

Duties and Responsibilities:  Major duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as Farm financial controller are mentioned as follows:

General

  • Manage and supervise all company’s financial records at the farm
  • Supervise the work of all accountants at the farm,
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and assist them for improvement.
  • Review and approve Payment Vouchers, Journal Vouchers, Goods Return Notes, etc.
  • Ensure transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Ensure treasury activities are carried out on time
  • Ensure correctness of Payroll done at Farm
  • Liaise with Head office for weekly farm transfer and banks
  • Keep fixed assets register and agree the balance against financial records
  • Provide oversight of petty cash ledger and ensure its agreement with cash on hand by performing surprise counts
  • Confirm budget transfer are paid as per the request
  • Prepare SoPs(Standard Operating Procedure), company policies on internal control system and risky areas
  • Computation and recording of accruals and deferrals
  • Recording of fixed asset for depreciation and amortization
  • Accounts reconciliation
  • Record transactions on Peachtree software and other software when needed
  • Prepare financial Reports
  • Oversee that all the site taxes are paid correctly and timely

Cost accounting

  • Review completeness of all required source documents and send to the HO such as Goods Receiving Notes, Store Issue Vouchers, Goods Receiving and Issuing Notes, Goods Return Vouchers, Sales Vouchers, Purchase Vouchers etc and report any missed documents to the HO responsible person.
  • Supervise, control and lead employees assigned under his/her direct supervision.
  • Review correctness and ensure adequacy of supporting documents when transactions are booked.
  • Ensures all the necessary data are maintained and updated regularly
  • Coordinate monthly  stock-taking on the farm site.
  • Reconcile raw material & finished goods records
  • Verify and approve stock reconciliations
  • Propose actions to be taken on slow moving, expired and dead stocks
  • Ensure compliance of internal control & SOP’s in all movements
  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns and ensure timely settlements of tax liabilities
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance;
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Accounting and Financial activities and Minimum two years on senior level;
  • Good experience and knowledge of modern accounting procedures and standards, and  the financial laws of the country applicable to a business organization;
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent know-how of Peachtree Accounting
  • Experience in horticulture sector is advantageous

Position 3: Crop Protection Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: For the realization of the aforementioned job purposes, the major duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as Crop Protection Manager are mentioned as follows:

  • Develop and implement integrated pest management strategies to protect crops.
  • Monitor crops for Identification of major pest and disease challenges at the farm site.
  • Develop and implement strategies to monitor, prevent, and control pests and diseases.
  • Implement control measures and monitor their effectiveness over a period of time.
  • Participate in the preparation of spray schedule.
  • Get advance and current information on the health condition of greenhouse plants with a view to preparing chemical mixes and ensure proper and timely implementation.
  • Report immediately when conditions affecting the already set spray plan occur.
  • Regularly flows-up  the maintenance of spray line, spray valves, spray hose pipes, nozzles, machines etc. and inform maintenance team well in advance in order to have a smooth operation of spraying during spray work.

Position 4: – Human Resources and Organizational Development Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: For the realization of the aforementioned job purposes, the major duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as HR and Organizational Development Manager are mentioned as follows:

HR Related:

  • Evaluate the company’s strategic and operational plans relating to HR and come up with proposals for improvement and assist in implementation.
  • Undertake assessment of the company’s organizational structures, job designs and salary structures and come up with proposals for improvement.
  • Continuously conduct assessment of the Company’s employees’ recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, succession plans, development and termination policies and procedures, and recommend ways for improvement.
  • Support the Farm HR and Admin in managing employees’ relations in accordance with the human resources and administrative policies and labor law of the land.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the overall human resource management strategies, systems and procedures.
  • Ensure healthy and commendable performance of the human resource function through regular assessment, staff coaching, etc.

Organizational Development Management Related: 

  • Develop and execute the delivery of organizational change management support process relevant to the achievement of company goals and objectives and corporate strategies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the design, planning, and implementation of corporate level organizational development programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct assessments on strategic and operational issues with a view to identifying gaps and adapting to new developments.
  • Assist in developing leadership techniques, systems and approaches with a view to managing changes within the organization.
  • Evaluate the systems put in place vis-a-vis the goals by conducting external and internal assessment. 
  • Evaluate the approaches and the business processes the company follow and evaluate their effectiveness vis-a-vis the goals and results.

  • Develop, design, and implement various need based capacity development programs
  • Analyze business structures, develop strategies, prepare reports, and suggest a change-management plan as necessary.

  • Noting that Tinaw is undertaking farm expansion project, propose proper structure, supervise the management and implementation of these projects when requested.

Position 5: Project Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities: For the realization of the aforementioned job purposes, the major duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as Project accountant are mentioned as follows:

  • Prepare payments to Suppliers.
  • Make sure fulfillment of documents for payment.
  • Follow up on timely settlement of all advances.
  • Ensure transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Ensure treasury activities are carried out on time.
  • Prepare Employee salary and Benefit.
  • Make sure salary is paid on time.
  • Liaise with Head office for weekly farm transfer and banks.
  • Confirm budget transfers are paid as per the request.
  • Keep fixed assets register and agree the balance against financial records.
  • Provide oversight of petty cash ledger and ensure its agreement with cash on hand by performing surprise counts.
  • Record/post store related documents (GRN, SIV and GRIN) to peach tree accounting.
  • Organize, coordinate and reconcile monthly stock take in the site.

  • Review completeness of all required source documents and send to the HO such as Goods Receiving Notes, Store Issue Vouchers, Goods Return Vouchers, Sales Vouchers, etc and report any missed documents to the HO responsible person.
  • Verify and approve stock reconciliations.
  • Follow up & settle telephone bills and other utility expenses on time.
  • Track monthly income tax, pension, VAT and WHT from documents and prepare payment for timely remittance of government obligations.
  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns and ensure timely settlements of tax liabilities.
  • Manage and supervise all company’s financial records at the farm.
  • Supervise, control and lead employees assigned under your direct supervision.
  • Ensures all the necessary data are maintained and updated regularly.

  • At least 5 years experience in Accounting and Financial activities
  • Good experience and knowledge of tax accounting
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software.
  • Experience in horticulture sector is advantageous

Position 6: Cashier

Duties and Responsibilities: For the realization of the aforementioned job purposes, the major duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as cashier are mentioned as follows:

  • Prepare and handle petty cash payment, checks, and CPO and bank letters.
  • Record and replenish petty cash payments on a timely basis.
  • Record/post store related documents (GRN, SIV and GRIN) to peach tree accounting.
  • Involve on Inventory counts
  • Follow up and prepare payments to Suppliers.
  • Make sure fulfillment of documents for payment.
  • Follow up on timely settlement of all advances and report to the immediate manager if there is delay.
  • Follow up & settle telephone bills and other utility expenses on time.
  • Follow up settlement of taxes (Income tax, Pension, WHT) on monthly basis.
  • Follow up and ensure proper handling of financial documents.
  • Any other business as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • At least 1 year work experience as Cashier/Accountant
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
