Position 1: Accountant
Job Description:
We are looking for an Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. Accountant responsibilities include preparing financial statements and procedures, reconciling bank statements, and calculating government tax obligations. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes. Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on the financial position, liquidity, and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
What will you do?
- Create journal entries for each transaction and record all financial transactions promptly and accurately and classify in into appropriate accounts
- Record Petty Cash transactions and replenish petty cash and maintain appropriate documentation, including receipts
- Record the acquisition or disposal of assets
- Prepare and compile budget forecasts with proper assumptions, physical and financial statement projections
- Publish financial statements in-time
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Reconciliation of accounts and bank statements with the general ledger
- Compute taxes, ensure timely and accurate filing of taxes
- Prepare and manage financial statements like balance sheets and profit/loss statements
- Provide detailed explanations and disclosures in the notes to the financial statements
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making
- Audit financial transactions and documents
- Implement internal controls to prevent errors and fraud
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
- Comply with financial policies and regulations
- Closing year-end financial reports
Job Requirements:
- 2-5 years of work experience as an Accountant
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Hands-on experience with various accounting software
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
- Experience with general ledger functions
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

- Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools
- Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs

Primary responsibilities:
- Ensure all staff are aware of the Administrative and HR Policy.
- Provide recruitment, selection, and placement services according to YaYa Payment Instrument Issuer Share Company human resource needs per the recruitment guidelines.
- Initiate, develop, review, update, and monitor the implementation of the company’s human resources policies and procedures in line with the labor proclamation of Ethiopia and YaYa corporate mission.
- Develop and review the human resources budget per the Company’s financial policies, procedures & manning guide.
- Maintain and update accessible Human Resources Information System (HRIS) per the Company’s objectives.
- Attend local HR and other related PR networking events.
- Connect with educational institutions, mainly Business and Technology institutions and Tech Incubation Centers across all regions.
- Design seasonal internship programs for young graduates in Information Technology and Business (Marketing, Sales, Accounting, Economics, etc.)
