Yemsrach Abera and Family General Trading PLC – TAPU FOODS would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Operation Manager

Summary of Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The operation manager spearheads the organization’s production process, ensuring seamless operations from product preparation to final delivery. S/he plays a critical role in managing product and service quality, supply chain efficiency, and quality assurance standards. To fulfill these responsibilities, the operation manager oversees a team of managers, including bakery plant manager, prepared foods plant managers, injera plant manager, and baltena plant manager. These managers work closely with the operation manager to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the organization’s production processes. The organizational structure of these factories will vary depending on the size of the organization and the volume and diversity of production. These managers will report directly to the operation manager, who in turn will report to the director of operations.

  • Ownership of Work: Assumes full ownership of the work under his/her purview, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Decision Transfer: Empowers his/her team members to make informed decisions within their areas of expertise, fostering a culture of accountability and ownership.
  • Resource Management: Effectively allocates and manages resources, ensuring the efficient utilization of equipment, materials, and personnel to optimize production processes.
  • Personnel Management: Oversees the recruitment, training, and development of team members, creating a high-performing and motivated workforce.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Fosters strong relationships with other departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.

Accountability

Accountable for fulfilling all assigned responsibilities

  • Bear primary responsibility for ensuring the efficient procurement of production inputs and the timely delivery of products.
  • Take ownership of decisions made within his/her scope of authority and shall collaborate with senior management on broader organizational decisions.
  • Evaluated based on his/her individual performance as well as the overall performance of the department under his/her leadership.
  • The operation manager shall fulfill management responsibilities by adhering to the following procedures:

Planning

  • Establish organizational production and service goals: Assess the organization’s resources and environmental conditions to set realistic and achievable goals for production and service delivery.
  • Determine production and service goal timelines: Analyze the organization’s capacity and projected demand to establish timeframes for achieving production and service goals.
  • Develop production strategies and plans: Formulate actionable strategies and plans to achieve the set production and service goals, considering resource allocation, process optimization, and workforce management.
  • Establish decision-making processes: Design clear and effective processes for making informed decisions related to production issues, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Implement workplace safety and product quality plans: Design, implement, and monitor comprehensive plans to ensure workplace safety and maintain high product quality standards.

Organizing

  • Design and implement an overall production structure that aligns with the organization’s objectives in terms of production and service delivery.
  • Effectively allocate and utilize human and material resources within the established production structure to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Design and implement a streamlined production process that aligns with the organization’s production structure, ensuring seamless operations from raw material acquisition to final product delivery.
  • Establish clear and effective communication channels and information flow paths between various units within the production structure to facilitate collaboration, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Leadership

  • Cultivate motivating work environment that inspires factory management and employees to align their efforts with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Empower employees through positive reinforcement and training to achieve the organization’s production goals, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Implement standardized production processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards across the organization’s operations.
  • Implement strategies and initiatives to continuously improve productivity in production and service delivery, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing bottlenecks.
  • Leverage ERP digital software technology to organize and manage the organization’s operational structure, streamlining processes, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and improving overall efficiency.

Controlling

  • Continuously monitor production activities to ensure they align with the organization’s purpose and goals, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Regularly evaluate the implementation of production-related activities outlined in the strategic plan, ensuring adherence to the established schedule and addressing any deviations promptly.
  • Proactively engage with relevant bodies to address potential disruptions and ensure the uninterrupted execution of production activities in accordance with the strategic plan’s goals.
  • Oversee the utilization of raw materials and production resources to ensure they are being used solely for the organization’s purpose and operations, preventing misuse or misappropriation.
  • Foster a culture of professional ethics and good work practices across all production sites, emphasizing integrity, responsibility, and collaboration.

Evaluation and Reporting

  • At the outset of the strategic plan, conduct an initial assessment to determine the organization’s current production status, identify gaps between current production and established goals, and develop a comprehensive planning schedule to bridge these gaps and achieve production objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate production performance against the strategic plan and timetable, assessing progress, identifying potential issues, and implementing necessary adjustments to ensure timely achievement of production goals
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of production performance against the strategic plan to determine the next directions and adjustments for future planning.
  • Gather and compile regular production status reports from relevant department heads and stakeholders, providing a comprehensive evaluation to the Director of Operations.
  • Comply with directives from the Operation Director.

Reports To: Operations Director

Level:  Senior (5+ Years)

Location:  Addis Ababa

Expected Background and Job Requirements:

  • MA/Msc, BA in Nutrition & Food Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing or any other similar field of study
  • Have a demonstrated and proven experience in working and managing employees in food industries at managerial position
  • Verbal and Written communication skill both in Amharic and English
  • Best documentation ability both hard and electronic
  • Familiar with operations of manufacturing industries roles and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Work, coaching and proactive nature are essential requirements.

Workplace: Addis Ababa

Position 2: Operations Director

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Leading with Ownership Sense: spearhead strategic initiatives and foster a culture of ownership within the directorate.
  • Sound Decision making: analyze complex situations, make informed decisions, and guide the directorate towards achieving organizational goals.
  • Resource Administration: effectively manage and allocate physical and human resources within the directorate to optimize operations.
  • Inter-Directorate Ccollaboration: collaborate effectively with other directors to ensure seamless integration and alignment across departments.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable on issues relates to his/her domain of actions
  • Accountable on the overall operations of the company: products & services of the company.
  • As director of operations, s/he is accountable for decisions that come forth from his/her directorate.
  • Evaluated based on individual and directorate’s performances.

Core Work Processes:

Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive product and service plans aligned with company goals.
  • Establish target timelines to achieve product and service objectives.
  • Formulate strategies and action plans to ensure the successful implementation of product and service goals.
  • Make production decisions based on demand fluctuations.
  • Expand the company’s restaurant presence by establishing a new branch and ensuring exceptional customer service across all locations.
  • Expand the market and introduce innovative flavors to the product menu.

Organizing:

  • Design and implement a production structure that aligns with the organization’s objectives for production and services.
  • Effectively allocate and utilize human and material resources within the established production structure.
  • Tailor the organization’s production process to fit the defined production structure.
  • Establish clear communication channels and information flow between different components of the organization’s production structure.

Leadership:

  • Cultivate a motivating environment for factory management and employees to align with the organization’s mission.
  • Implement strategies to positively impact employee performance and drive production towards organizational goals.
  • Establish a comprehensive monitoring system to track overall production activities and ensure adherence to strategic objectives.
  • Implement proactive initiatives to enhance productivity in the organization’s production and service operations.
  • Leverage ERP digital technology to modernize and optimize the organization’s operational structure.

Controlling:

  • Continuously monitor and implement corrective actions to ensure production activities align with organizational goals.
  • Proactively monitor and communicate progress on production-related activities to ensure adherence to the strategic plan and established timelines.
  • Implement proactive measures to maintain operational continuity and achieve production goals outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Oversee the utilization of raw materials and production processes to ensure alignment with the enterprise’s objectives.
  • Implement quality control measures at production sites to ensure the consistent production of defect-free products that meet the intended purpose, utilizing the necessary human resources, product inputs, and production equipment.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Conduct a baseline assessment at the outset of the strategic plan to determine the organization’s current production stage and its distance from the established production goals. Develop a comprehensive planning schedule based on this assessment.
  • Regularly evaluate the seasonal (annual) production process against the established strategic plan and timetable. Assess the progress made, identify any remaining tasks, and determine the effectiveness of the implementation timeline. Communicate any necessary adjustments or decisions to ensure alignment with production goals.
  • Gather and analyze production status reports from relevant department heads and stakeholders. Compile a comprehensive report summarizing the evaluation results of the enterprise’s overall production performance and submit it to the CEO’s office on a regular basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CEO.

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Level:  Senior (5+ Years)

Location:  Addis Ababa

Expected Background and Job Requirements:

  • MA/Msc, BA in Management, Business Administration, Logistics or any other similar field of study
  • Have a demonstrated and proven experience in leading and managing food industries and/or star restaurants and hotels
  • Proven working experience with government and multiple stakeholders
  • Verbal and Written communication skill both in Amharic and English
  • Best documentation ability both hard and electronic
  • Familiar with operations of manufacturing industries roles and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Work, coaching and proactive nature are essential requirements.
