Position 1: Program Coordinator
Background
Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) is a non-governmental non-profit making indigenous organization, which was established by four school clubs and fifteen Youth associations with the vision to see Ethiopian Youth as capacitated, productive, self-reliant and healthy agents of sustainable development. The major program areas of YNSD are Youth Empowerment, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS, and Environment specifically on climate change. www.ynsdethiopia.org.et
Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implements the Integrated Youth Activity/Kefeta program in Adama, Bishoftu, and four sub-cities in Addis Ababa. Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youths who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity. Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.
Job Summary:
The program coordinator is responsible for working with the program staff to successfully implement the organization’s and the project’s objectives in the areas of the project; effective planning, organizing, executing, and reporting to stakeholders and donors. She /he is responsible for establishing collaborative relationships with executing government agencies, civil society organizations, and donor organizations.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
The program coordinator performs the following duties and responsibilities.
- Expedite and coordinate project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing government agencies, and other civil society organizations, facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs.
- Lead the program implementation across the implementation site/areas
- Support and follow cluster and city-level offices in collaboration with the cluster manager and M&E officer
- Create a detailed work plan, determine resources (time, money, and equipment required to complete the project, and review the project schedule with senior management.
- Support the M & E officer in Conducting Project monitoring and evaluation using appropriate approaches, communicating and documenting findings.
- Monitor the progress of the project (action plan, budget vs actual accomplishment), prepare and submit narrative for management and donors.
- Evaluate the outcomes, and impacts of the project.
- Communicate findings and progress reports, to stakeholders (the Executive director and program manager).
- Provide overall credible leadership ensuring that Kefeta’s strategies, guidelines, SOPs, and manuals are properly implemented in the clusters;
- Provide targeted technical assistance to project implementation to foster continuous improvement in quality in both programmatic and operational performance;
- Ensure projects are aligned with and contribute to national and local strategies, policies, operational guidelines, and protocols as applicable;
- Plan and facilitate planning and performance review sessions in alignment with Kefeta’s planning cycle;

Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience:-
Bachelor’s Degree/MPH, MA in Sociology, project management, economics, law, or other related social science fields an MA/BA degree in similar social science fields is preferable. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an NGO setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong commitment to working with young boys and girls issues.
- Track record in project management, reporting, and information material development
- Demonstrated skills and significant experience in advocacy projects
- Experience in workshop/training, campaign/events organizing
- Proficiency in the English language both written and spoken
- Able to establish and strengthen networks with international and local youth-led, youth-focused organizations
