Action Aid Ethiopia would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Producing Toolkit on Decent Work

Job Requirements

The Consultant should demonstrate the following requirements in their application to be considered.

  • Specific knowledge: Rich knowledge and information on issues of decent work, exploitation, child labor, abuse, and human trafficking and experience in issues related to labor rights.
  • Education level and type: LLB/LLM, BA/MA Human Rights, Gender, and Development Studies, and field of study in Journalism, Communication, Language Studies, and Related Fields is a plus/advantageous along with experience in preparing materials for publication, particularly significant exposure in the CSO sector.
  • Legal requirements: Renewed professional license, accreditations, and VAT certifications.
  • Personal qualities and attributes: Proven writing skills to communicate broad concepts in simple language, ability to present bulk information in a condensed manner, the proven capacity of message crafting for effective communication and advocacy works, and related qualities.
  • Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written Amharic and English
  • The consultant must provide CV and application letter together with a complete set of technical and financial documents “Original” and “Copy” in a separately sealed envelope with one copy for each.
  • The winner is required to comply ActionAid’s SHEA and Safeguarding Polices which will be delivered to them together with the contract agreement and must be filled and returned to AAE. If the winner fails to do this, the award will be cancelled automatically.

Position 2: Grant and Compliance Coordinator – Re Advertised

Reports to: Head of Fundraising

Type of Contract: Contract

Required Number: One

Duty Base: Addis Ababa with frequent field travels

The position holder provides strategic support and drives forward the CP knowledge and tools to deliver ways to comply with donor rules and regulations. Provides expert advice, guidance and quality assurance on donor compliance for pre and post award of strategic grants. Develops proposal and CN with the support of programme team. The position holder is also expected to lead on and keeps up-to -date contract management system and ensure grant and project management in line with donor and government requirements.

  • Follow up and ensure program/project and finance team deliver projects in line with donor and government requirements
  • Regular review of projects in line with donor and government requirements and flag any concerns to SMT and other relevant team
  • Identify specific requirements, regulations and policies of each donor AAE works with and orient/capacitate relevant project and finance team.
  • Facilitates the vital activities in project start-up phase such as MOU signing b/n AAE & FAs, AAE & Partners, Project internalization and launching Workshop, etc;
  • Involves and supports in project planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of donor funded projects,
  • Together with Implementing Units/Departments, follow up and monitor effective implementation of donor fund projects;
  • Facilitates Implementing Units mainly Programme & Finance Department, to submit periodical reports for an on-going donor funded projects.
  • Support Implementing Units/Departments, follow up and monitor effective implementation of donor fund projects;
  • Work with the rest of the organizational fundraising team to ensure effective fundraising and donor partnership development process;

Job Requirements

  • MA, MSc /BA in Development Studies, Economics and Management/ OR other related disciplines and 6 or 8 years of relevant experience for MA,/MSc or BA holders respectively
  • Donor/NGO experience in project design and planning, management and evaluation.
  • Prior experience in grant and contract management particularly funded by donors such as DANIDA, Irish Aid, USAID, AICS, FCDO, NORAD and other donors
  • Advanced experience and skills in computer use
  • A good knowledge of Human Right Based Approach programming and Feminist approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
