Addis Ababa University would like to invite qualified and interested job seekers to apply for the following vacant position.

Position 1: Account’s clerk/Cashier

Summary of major duties

 

• Make payroll and other payments including as necessary in project areas;

• Keep petty cash and execute payments and timely settle petty cash ;

• Keep evidences of the execution of payments ;

• Maintain filing of financial documents and reports ;

• Verify, code, post, and reconcile transactions

• Provide guarantee or surety for performance of this contract;

• Allocate 40 hours per week to perform activities related to the project implementation ;

• Carry out other activities assigned by the Finance and Admin Head, the coordinator of the Sub-Project for Community Based Human Rights Promotion and Protection, and the Lead Coordinator;

• Promote the values of the Project and the Employer including respect for human rights, gender equality, tolerance, transparency, and constructive engagement with all partners and stakeholders

 

Job Requirement

Qualification:

 

Bachelor of Arts or Diploma in Accounting and Finance or any other related fields.

Four (4) years of relevant experience for Diploma or two (2) years of experience for BA Degree.

Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Peachtree /Mandatory/

Experience with ERP Accounting Software is a plus.

Knowledge of IFMIS is advantageous

Ability to adapt to the existing environment and great team player

 Cooperative and willingness to work under pressure

Position 2: Procurement Officer

Summary of major duties

 

• Prepare project’s Annual procurement plan based on the given project’s annual budget, facilitate contracts signature and examine and re-evaluate existing contract agreements and report to a concerned supervisor when there are any deviations;

• Review Specification & requirements of goods/Terms of Reference before commencing the procurement process.

• Prepares bid documents, contract agreements as well as bid evaluation in accordance with guidelines of government public procurement.

• Review and submit periodic procurement status reports on timely basis.

• Coordinate and resolve problems in collaboration with procurement team with end users (requesting units) and suppliers.

• Follow up the implementation of procurement contracts in collaboration with the assigned supervisor;

• Carefully handle procurement evaluation reports and submit to Procurement Endorsing Committee; and

• Handle any other procurement related activities as requested by the supervisor.

• Perform other duties assigned

 

Job Requirement

Qualification:

 

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in purchasing and supplies management, logistics or other relevant studies;

Minimum of 3 year experience for the BA or two year experience for MA ;

Experience as Senior Procurement Officer is a plus;

Experience and knowledge of working on IFMIS and EGP is a plus

Position 3: Legal Officer (for Hawassa Project Area) Place of work – (Shashamane)

Job Summary

Summary of major duties

• Provide legal aid services including preparation of pleadings and other legal document, provision of advice and referral services to target beneficiaries of the project;

• Assist the Regional/ Project Area Manager in following client’s cases and regularly communicate with justice sector actors;

• Assist the Regional/ Project Area Manager in organization of community rights trainings;

• Identify and contact community leaders and others for community rights promotion, trainings and dialogue;

• Prepare a compendium of cases and legal instruments including federal supreme court cassation bench decisions regarding the focus on the project;

• Assist the Regional/ Project Area Manager in the preparation of plans and report;

• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirement

Qualification:

First degree in law;

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in legal practice

Experience in legal/court practice;

Experience in project management and community engagement is a plus;

Good interpersonal communication;

Proficiency in Afaan Oromo is required

Position 4:- Networking and Partnership Promotion Officer

Summary of major duties

• Planning, organization, and implementation of policy dialogue forums;

• Networking and experience sharing workshops;

• Prepare quarterly and annual work plans, narrative and financial performance reports of the sub-project

• Prepare monthly activity plans and execute in consultation with the sub-project coordinator;

• Facilitate and coordinate organization of policy dialogue forums for federal, regional, local government officials, and civil societies;

• Monitor monthly project expenditures of the sub-project and make proposal for improving the delivery rate

• Facilitate and oversee logistical arrangements for relevant meetings and workshops;

• Perform other duties as may be assigned

Job Requirement

Qualification:

Minimum first degree in Journalism, communication, project management, law, development studies, human rights other social science field

Minimum 3 years, experience for BA and 2 years for MA

Excellent interpersonal skills

Experience in forging partnerships and grant applications

Position 5:-  Research Officer

Job Summary

Summary of major duties

• Planning, organization, and implementation of policy dialogue forums;

• Networking and experience sharing workshops;

• Prepare quarterly and annual work plans, narrative and financial performance reports of the sub-project

• Prepare monthly activity plans and execute in consultation with the sub-project coordinator;

Job Requirement

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, laws or other related fields;

MA in Human Rights and other related fields is a plus

Employment experience of Minimum of 1 year;

Experience in research, particularly applied research;

Position 6:-  Policy Collaboration and Diffusion Officer

Job Summery

Summary of major duties

• Planning, organization, and implementation of policy dialogue forums;

• Networking and experience sharing workshops;

• Prepare quarterly and annual work plans, narrative and financial performance reports of the sub-project

• Prepare monthly activity plans and execute in consultation with the sub-project coordinator;

• Facilitate and coordinate organization of policy dialogue forums for federal, regional, local government officials, and civil societies;

• Monitor monthly project expenditures of the sub-project and make proposal for improving the delivery rate

• Facilitate and oversee logistical arrangements for relevant meetings and workshops;

Job Requirement

Qualification:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human rights, social sciences or related fields

Experience in liaising with government and civil society organizations and organizing policy dialogue forums

Team-oriented and good interpersonal communication skills;

Excellent writing skills
