In the year Founded in 1957 as East Africa’s Flying Doctors to bring vital health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa aims to bring about lasting health change in more than 30 countries on the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome some of the continent’s most pressing health challenges: maternal and child health, HIV and TB, malaria, water and sanitation, and health system strengthening. Amref Health Africa has been working closely with the Federal Ministry of Health in Ethiopia since 2002 to implement various projects in maternal, newborn and child health, reproductive health, health system strengthening, health power development, water and sanitation, and HIV. / AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the country, supported by various multilateral and bilateral donors, corporations and foundations.
Under the supervision of the National Program Coordinator, the Program Officer will be responsible for overall management and facilitation of the program implementation and project development phase, including evaluation, planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination, partnership and reporting of project activities at the zonal level. . Program implementation is coordinated and implemented, including technical assistance and capacity building activities for Amref program districts, health facilities and community health facilities to ensure RESET Plus FP activities and projects.

Position 1: Technical Officer – Preparedness and International Health Regulations (IHR) Capacity Development
Required Academic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Science, Health Services Research or related health discipline with two (2) years of relevant experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Health Science, Health Services Research or related health discipline with five (5) years of relevant experience.
Experience in supporting implementation of public health programs related to Emergency Preparedness activities.
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of operations of the Africa CDC and Regional Coordination Centres.
Understanding of the African Union’s way of working and managing associated relationships with Member States and partners is a valuable asset.
Experience with engagement and interaction with senior-level officials and other key stakeholders in both public and private-sector organizations.
Workplace: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Indicative basic salary is US$ 35,044.83

Position 2: Technical Officer – Knowledge Management, Data and Research
Required Academic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in research, public health, emergency preparedness and response and global health security.
Or
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in research, public health, emergency preparedness and response and global health security.
Required Professional Work Experience
Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience (based on academic qualifications) in supporting implementation of public health related activities and programmes
Experience working with an international organization is a valuable asset
Previous experience working in Africa that reflects an in-depth knowledge of public health issues and public health workforce in general
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of operations of the Africa CDC and Regional Coordination Centres
Understanding of the African Union’s way of working and managing associated relationships with Member States and partners is a valuable asset
Experience with engaging and interacting with senior-level officials and other key stakeholders in both public and private-sector organizations
