Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Regional Senior Sub grant Officer

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance, Business administration, or Economics from a recognized University.
  • Minimum of 8 years (for Bachelor’s) or 6 years (for Master’s) relevant work experience,
  • Knowledge of local laws of the country including finance, tax, and procurement.
  • Flexibility and ability to stay effective and motivated in a fast-changing environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work long hours and work with other staff.
  • Excellent adaptive problem-solver in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English, Amharic, and respective regional working languages is a plus.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user and accounting software

Position 2: Senior Project Officer I – Full Stack Developer

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer or Electrical engineering and other related fields
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in developing software, administering databases and managing projects and implementing projects.
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
  • Experience developing web and mobile applications
  • Familiarity with common stacks
  • Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
  • Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js and others related tools)
  • Expert in designing and developing data collection tools or applications specifically uding ODK and other related technologies
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
  • Well-structured, critical thinker with exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively on complex data, IT systems and analytical topics
  • Great attention to detail, Organizational skills, An analytical mind
  • Excellent communication (Oral and Written) and teamwork skills
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is essential

Position 3: Senior Project Officer I – Backend Developer

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer or Electrical Engineering and other related fields
  • At least for 6 years of relevant experience in developing software, administering databases and managing projects and implementing projects.
  • Expert in various Web development technologies including C#, Python, Ruby, Node.js, Angular, Java Script, and the latest Java Framework Technologies.
  • Advanced skills and experience in different open source technologies used for developing IVR and SMS-based technologies such as FreeSWITCH, Adheresion, and other related technologies.
  • Advanced skills and experience with the following software tools, including rolling out to users with training and troubleshooting support: MS Power BI, Database Management (MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or others)
  • Expert in designing and developing data collection tools or applications specifically using ODK and other related technologies
  • Strong understanding of IVR and/or SMS technologies and other advanced technologies and tools such as remote sensing, satellite, drones, internet of things, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), etc
  • Well-structured, critical thinker with exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively on complex data, IT systems and analytical topics 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic is essential

Position 4: Senior Project Officer I – Cooperative Based Seed Production (CBSP)

Required qualifications, competencies, and experience:

The regional Project Officer is expected to have a deep Knowledge of Ethiopia’s agricultural system in general and agricultural input supply value chain, and specifically the seed value chain. Required qualifications, competencies, skills, trainings, and experience include:

  • MSc degree in fields such as Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Business Management, Development Economics or Cooperatives, Rural Development, Crop Production, other closely related fields.
  • A minimum of 6 years of work experience in areas related to on-the-ground community seed initiatives, e.g., working alongside farmer’s cooperative unions, in community seed banks, small and medium enterprise (SME) development, cooperative development, value-chain development, and other related disciplines
  • Understanding of Ethiopia’s agricultural system with a broad perspective on interactions between public, private and informal actors in the seed system
  • Deep knowledge of different community-based seed production modalities, e.g., farmers’ unions, primary cooperatives, organized out-growers, farmer entrepreneurs, etc. and associated regulatory issues
  • Expertise in seed value chain in cereal crops like wheat and teff, as well as in other focus crops, i.e., pulses, oilseeds, and tubers
  • Experience in prioritizing and sequencing both programmatic and operational activities
  • Experience in program design, performance management, stakeholder management, contract management, and Monitoring Learning and Evaluation (MLE) systems
  • Knowledge of analytical methods such as different statistical tools
  • Practical experience in developing and maintaining linkages between producers and markets
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up environment, with an emphasis on high-performance, teamwork and accountability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty, and desire to be of service
  • Fluency in Amharic and the regional language and proficiency in English are essential

Position 5: Senior Project Officer II – Monitoring and Evaluation

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or above in project management, socioeconomics, agricultural economics, rural development or related field
  • At least 8-years’ relevant experience in managing the M&E of large multi-dimensional projects
  • Analytical skills, including livelihood and farming system analysis
  • Knowledge on major statistical analyses software relevant to M&E
  • Experience of statistical analysis of project databases
  • Knowledge of Ethiopia with knowledge of the Northern Ethiopian context a very strong asset.
  • Capacity to implement participatory analysis
  • Sensitivity to gender and environmental issues
  • Desire of improving the lives of smallholder farmers
  • Rigor, autonomy and integrity
  • Strong capacity to facilitate teamwork
  • Willingness to undertake frequent field visits
  • Strong Communication skills (writing, speaking, composing, presenting, etc)
  • Proficiency in oral and written English and Amharic
  • Computer literacy

Position 6: Regional Operations Director

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, organizational development, or other related fields
  • At least 12 years combined experience in Operations related roles (Admin, HR, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, and IT), of which at least 6 years worked in a leadership or senior management role
  • Strong understanding of legal, administrative, and operational standards and procedures in the Ethiopian context
  • Track record in organizational development, systems creation, and management, leadership of complex organizations, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing, implementing, and managing HR, IT, procurement, logistics and/or administrative systems
  • Experience in building a strong team to whom significant responsibilities are delegated
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and culturally sensitive
  • Good working knowledge of communications systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary, diverse staff, and multi-sector environment
  • Strong team player, highly energetic, self-motivated, goal-oriented and committed to shared goals
  • Excellent adaptive problem-solver in a challenging environment

Position 7: Regional ACC Director – OATC

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Agricultural sciences, Economics, Agribusiness, Business Management, or other relevant fields
  • At least twelve (12) years of professional experience supporting areas such as Planning and implementation of activities at an organizational level as well as Market-led value chain development and upgrading activities (preferably including project management of large-scale agricultural development, agro-processing, and/or agribusiness-focused initiatives).
  • At least six (6) years of leadership and/or managerial experience
  • Good experience of working at regional government offices and civil society or private sector sectors
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including thorough knowledge and understanding of various regional level and federal level institutions; extensive experience in facilitating dialogue with relevant public and private stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and the local language is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with highly collaborative working style.
  • Experience in working with multi-cultural teams preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty and desire to be of service.
  • Ability and willingness to shoulder responsibilities under hectic conditions (in terms of overlapping assignments that may happen occasionally)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment, with an emphasis on high performance, teamwork, accountability and results
