The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.  With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender-based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.

Danish Refugee Council would like to invites competent and qualified candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Roving Protection Assistant

Location: Addis Ababa (with frequent field travel)

Employment Category:  I1

Reporting To: Deputy Protection Manager (Afar)

Required Employee: 1

Salary: USD 470.00 to USD 572.00 based on you work experience and educational qualification.

Job Requirements

  • 0-2 years’ experience (paid or voluntary) in an entry-level position, with experience in the field of protection in a humanitarian response working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority, or related field;
  • Experience in conducting protection monitoring and protection assessments or equivalent research preferred;
  • Experience in working with displaced or at risk populations, including identifying and responding to needs of particular vulnerable individuals with cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team;
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures;
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; proficiency in Kobo and other data collection/analysis tools desirable

Job Requirements

Experience and Technical Competencies: (include years of experience)

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology, social work, social or gender studies)
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian organization
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in GBV prevention and/or response services
  • Fluency in written and spoken Somali and English
  • Experience with emergency response, displacement, and conflict and/or drought-affected populations
  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian, protection, and GBV principles and standards, as well as organizational policies
  • Excellent protection analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for external audiences
  • Experience with people management and creation of a collaborative working environment
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Commitment to accountability and quality programming
  • Ability to work well under pressure in adverse, insecure and/or remote conditions with diverse multi-sector staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • University degree in gender studies, social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution

Position 3: Protection Specialist/Cluster Co-Coordinator (North)

Job Requirements

Experience and Technical Competencies: 

  • 3-5 years’ work experience within the field of law or protection, particularly within the field of migrant/IDP/refugee protection;
  • At least 3 years with international NGO’s, UN agencies, relevant ministries and/or local authorities in migrants/refugee/IDP settings in complex emergencies;
  • Demonstrated experience in cluster coordination;
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently unsupervised;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and adapt in a complex and challenging environment;
  • Experience with capacity building, and in convening and facilitating trainings and workshops;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relationships with key stakeholders, including UN, government, and NGO/civil society

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution.

Position 4: Staff Safety and Liaison Officer

Location: Dollo Ado

Salary: USD 540.00 to USD 656.00 based on you work experience and educational qualification.

Job Requirements

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience as a safety and security officer with an INGO
  • Experience working in multicultural work settings
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized protocols and systems
  • Experience with information gathering, analysis and report writing
  • Ability to conduct and produce high quality safety risk assessments (SRAs)
  • Experience with critical incident management
  • Experience with delivering safety-related training
  • Experience working in hostile or hazardous environments
  • Full professional proficiency in English, Amharic, Somali and other language is advance

 EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • University degree (BA/BSc) from a recognized institution

LANGUAGE:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Somali Language have an advantage.

Position 5: Finance Controller (Compliance and Audit)

Location:  Addis Ababa with periodic travel to Field offices (Gambela, Dimma, Jigjiga, Dolo, Shire and any newly added locations)

Salary Range: USD 1,001.00 – 1,217.00 per month which specific amount will be determined up on candidates experience and educational relevancy

Reporting To: Country Finance Manager

Start of Contract & Duration:  10 months renewable based on availability of budget

Job Requirements

Experience and Technical Competencies: (include years of experience)

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in compliance functions in the finance field at a similar level position.
  • If not compliance related experience, at least 5 years working in Finance field (general). 
  • Experience working for a large INGO in Ethiopia, with in depth knowledge of INGO rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience and expertise in the use of financial system software, preferably an ERP system. Experience with Microsoft products is strongly preferred.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required.  

Education (include certificates, licenses etc.):

  • Master’s degree in finance (MBA – Finance) or other similar field of Finance/accounts

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Excellent verbal and written English.
  • Knowledge of Amharic an added advantage.
