In 2026-2027, the Embassies of Sweden in Ethiopia and Ethiopia in Sweden will celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Ethiopia — a milestone reflecting a long-standing partnership rooted in friendship and people-to-people ties, trade and development cooperation, and shared values.

To commemorate this occasion, the Embassy invites creative individuals, artists, and designers from both Ethiopia and Sweden to participate in a Logo Design Competition that captures the spirit of “80 Years of Friendship – Forward Together.” The logo will be used throughout the anniversary year on official promotion and communication materials, digital platforms, publications, and events.

Embassy of Sweden would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following position.

Position: Logo Design Contest

The logo should reflect 80 years of Sweden–Ethiopia relations, with a focus on the future. The logo must include the number “80” and the phrase “Sweden–Ethiopia” (or “Sweden and Ethiopia”). Ideally, we would like to see both color and black-and-white versions, in a scalable vector format suitable for both print and digital use.

When will the winner be announced?

On December 11th, 2025.

Who selects the winner?

A jury formed by the Embassy of Sweden in Ethiopia and the Embassy of Ethiopia in Sweden selects the winner.

What prize and recognition will be given?

The first prize is 100,000 ETB (payable by invoice or in-kind). Selected submissions will also be highlighted through the Embassies’ social media platforms.

Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

Open to all Ethiopian and Swedish citizens. Employees of the Embassy of Sweden in Ethiopia, Embassy of Ethiopia in Sweden, Swedish government agencies, and their immediate family members are not eligible.

Originality

Submissions must be original and created specifically for this competition. The design must not infringe on any existing trademarks, copyrights, or intellectual property rights.

Ownership and Usage Rights

Upon selection, the winning design and all associated rights shall become the property of the Embassy of Sweden in Ethiopia. The Embassy reserves the right to modify or adapt the logo for different applications while maintaining its core identity.

Disqualification

Entries found to have been copied or previously published elsewhere will be automatically disqualified.

Decision finality

Decisions of the jury are final and binding. The Embassy reserves the right not to select a winner if no suitable entry is found. Selected designs may also be featured in a virtual or in person exhibition or commemorative publication.

How To Apply

How and when do I submit?

Submissions must be made by December 5, 2025, 11:59 PM (EAT) via email to ambassaden.addis.abeba.rsvp@gov.se with the subject line: “Logo Design Competition – Sweden–Ethiopia 80 Years”. The submission should include the following:

  • Logo files (PDF, PNG, or high-resolution JPEG) named in the following way: Full Name_Country (e.g. AbebeBekele_Ethiopia.pdf)
  • SignedConsent and Copyright Agreement (see bottom of page)
  • A document containing a short bio of the creator(s) (max 150 words) and an optional description of the submission
