Emory University is dedicated to implement a community based Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and nutrition interventions to support the Ministry of Health’s efforts to increase access to and utilization of Quality Maternal and Newborn Health and Nutrition Services.
The country office activities are aligned with Emory university’s priorities of global health and its strategic focus on Ethiopia. Emory University has a qualified and well experienced staff recognized for expertise in formative and implementation research as well as collaborative quality improvement.
Emory University Ethiopia would like to invites competent and qualified candidates for the following positions.
Position 1: – Technical Director
S/he will work closely with the MoH at federal, regional and district levels, maintain and further strengthen the close partnership and collaboration with the MoH, including involvement in technical working groups and other technical committees, as appropriate. His/her role will also include technical collaboration with bilateral and multilateral agencies (USAID, WHO and UNICEF and foundations), in-country academic institutions as well as international and local NGOs and organizations.
S/he will collaborate with Emory university Atlanta researchers, faculty, students, other collaborators and serve as a technical focal point for the technical collaborations.
The technical director will report to the Emory University Ethiopia Country Representative.
Educational Qualifications & Work Experiences:
MD/MPH, MD+ other relevant specialty like Pediatrics + MPH or MPH/MSc in health or other relevant field or PhD in public health.
A minimum of 5-7 years of senior-level technical expertise and experience in project development, implementation and evaluation in the health sector.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience
Innovative, flexible and ability to work under pressure
Believes in the potential of collaborative community-oriented approaches to health improvement

Position 2: – Information Technology Technician
Specific Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the organization gets compatible, secured, and consistent IT support services
- Repairs or replaces faulty hardware, tests and error checks IT problems and proposes possible solutions.
- Collaborates with various department managers, project managers and regional offices to ensure that essential IT supports provided to staff and offices.
- Backs-up data, provides technical documentation and/or materials,
- Oversee the compliance to IT policies and procedures and ensures that the IT policies of the organization are shared and understood by all staff and adhered
- Assists with physical equipment installation (i.e. networking patch panels, racks or rack enclosures, and hub stations) on, under or above workstations, in server rooms and/or for specially designed furniture;
- Maintains a high level of familiarity with all hardware to provide maintenance, as needed.
Terms of employment: One year with possible of extension for all positions
Number required: 1 (one)
Level of Travel: Regularly travel to the regional offices and field sites
Education Qualification/Work Experience/Technical Skills:
BSc degree or higher in computer science, information technology or related
Minimum of five years of work experience in IT support services.
Proven experience in computer networks installation and administration.
Experience in the area of data management and automation.
Knowledge of current applications and trends of Information Technology.
Strong written and oral communication skills

Position 3: Accountant
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete record in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Emory University Accounting and Financial Policies and Procedures. She/he also verifies all source documents for proper approval and documentation
Specific Functions and Responsibilities:
- Make sure all company finances are maintained orderly, advance are settled properly, and
- payments are made and received on time
- Hold, manage and replenish Petty cash; Record collections, receipts, and payment vouchers on a daily bases
- Prepare project cash transfers, bank reconciliation and monthly payroll including remittance of the necessary taxes to the authorities,
- Review and compile regional office monthly account document and settle working advances
- Ensure all suppliers invoices and bills are paid on a timely basis;
- Enters all financial data into the accounting system;
- Reconciles bank accounts with books of accounts;
Terms of employment: One year with possible of extension for all positions
Number required: 1 (one)
Education Qualification/Work Experience/Technical Skills:
BA degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience;
Three years job related experience in INGO;
Very good communication and presentation skills;
Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner;
Good computer skill – MS Word, Excel, especially accounting softwares such as Quickbook, peachtree; etc.
Workplace: Addis Ababa
Position 4: Administration Assistant
The Administration Assistant will provide administrative and logistics support to Administration Officer and to the project team.
Specific Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assists the project team in travel arrangements, hotel reservations, and in-country transportation;
- provide general support services such as settling, utilities, insurance, telephone bills and others
- Assist in handling orders such as office supplies and/or materials for office use and trainings
- ensure that deliveries and distribution are made in a timely manner;
- Responsible for copying, sorting and stapling scanning, pasting, stamping etc. services
- Responsible to prepare dispatch notes and others required documentation
- Assists in maintaining updated & complete list of inventory of project properties
- Carry out other administrative tasks as requested.
Terms of employment: One year with possible of extension for all positions
Number required: 1 (one) for each position
Education Qualification/Work Experience/Technical Skills
BA in Business Studies/management or other related field;
Two years of experience in administration and logistics is preferred;
Knowledge of basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc;
Excellent organizational and communication skills,
Good command of written and spoken English;
