About the organization

EOC-DICAC is a non-profit humanitarian local NGO working assist vulnerable communities in Ethiopia to attain self-reliance by tackling the root causes of poverty, migration, climate change, conflict, public health illiteracy problems by promoting sustainable development programs. Since 1972, EOC-DICAC has been engaged in various types of development, humanitarian response, peace building and advocacy interventions in all regions of the country.

EOC-DICAC would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following Positions.

Position 1: Humanitarian Response Officer

Job Summary

The humanitarian response officer is mainly responsible for efficient and timely planning, implementation, monitoring, and provision of technical support and reporting of emergency response/humanitarian works of the organization in accordance with CHS requirements, EOC-DICAC and funding partners working procedures.  This includes bout not limited to undertaking community need assessment, writing project proposals/concept notes, browsing call proposals, processing agreements with donor and government, closely follow up project implementation, facilitating and conducting monitoring, timely preparation of project & situation reports to relevant bodies based on their requirements (standards). Moreover, provide continuous technical and organizational support and capacity building including trainings to staff and stakeholders, liaising with all stakeholders for ensuring the smooth and quality implementation of emergency response/humanitarian projects. Furthermore, she/he shall participate in the relevant UN-Clusters and other forums meetings.

Duty station: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to field offices and project sites.

Number of Vacant Post: Two.

Salary and benefits:  Negotiable.

Terms of employment: One year contract with possibility of extension.

Job Requirements

Education:

BSc or BA holders in humanitarian studies, DRR, Agriculture, Development studies, sociology, public health, psychology, economics or other relevant fields of study.

Work Experience:

Six (6) years of relevant work experience for BA/BSC holders and 4 years for MA/MSC preferably in NGOs.                                                                            

Competency and Requirements

  • Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner,
  • Good knowledge of field level objective realities of humanitarian work and socio-economic context,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders for the successful achievement of the project deliverables,
  • Able to operate basic computer skills, excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Firm belief in gender equality and in participatory management,
  • Good knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS),
  • Ability to travel and work in hard to reach areas and under stress condition,
  • Willingness and ability to perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Position 2: Procurement and Logistics Officer

Job Summary

The procurement and logistics officer is mainly responsible for efficient and timely planning, organizing, and implementing, providing technical support and submission of reports of procurement and material management works of the organization.  The procurement and logistic officer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services that includes but not limited to the procurement of tools, equipment, emergency response food and non-food items, supplies and services, construction materials based on the procurement policy/manual of the organization and donor requirement. She/he is also responsible for the proper management of procurement process, contract agreements, storage and utilization of tools, supplies and construction materials.

Number of Vacant Post: One.

Terms of employment: One year contract with possibility of extension.

Education:

BA/B.SC degree in Procurement and Supply Management, Material management, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance and other related fields.

Work Experience:

6 years of relevant work experience for BA/BSC holders and 4 years for MA/MSC preferably in NGOs.

Competency and Requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple tasks,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders for the successful achievement of the project deliverables,

  • Ability to travel and work in hard to reach areas and under stress condition,
  • Willingness and ability to perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
