These were Ethiopian Shipping Lines Share Company, Ethiopian Maritime and Transit Service Enterprise, Dry Port Service Enterprise, and the former Comet Transport Share Company. The consolidation into the new enterprise took place in August 2016.
Among the major entities that contributed to the establishment of the merged enterprise is the former Ethiopian Shipping Lines Share Company (ESL), which was established on March 1, 1956 E.C., with an initial capital of 50,000 (fifty thousand) Ethiopian birr.
