Goethe Institut Athiopien (German Cultural Institute) would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

 Position 1: Bookkeeper/Administrator

TASKS WILL ENCOMPASS

  • Accounting: Creditor, debitor, bank, cash, and other forms of accounting
  • Payments: Responsibility for bill payments and accounting, leading the cash desk, check payments, and bank transfers,
  • Review of accounting documents,
  • Preparation of monthly statements,
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements,
  • Calculation of travel expenses,
  • Procurement,
  • Reporting,
  • Filing of documents,
  • General administrative tasks.
  • All tasks will involve adherence to internal regulations, Ethiopian laws, and German and European Union laws and regulations and German accounting practices according to “HGB”. The ERP system will be SAP and most bookings, filings, and reports will require the use of SAP.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed commercial training or undergraduate studies (e.g. administration, business etc.) or equivalent knowledge and skills in financial accounting or business administration,
  • Work permit for Ethiopia,
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office applications,
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic,
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written German desirable and/or the willingness to learn or improve German,
  • Professional experience in finance and accounting desirable,
  • Experience with foreign publicly funded organisations desirable,
  • Good SAP knowledge desirable or willingness to familiarise with SAP and German HGB accounting practices,
  • Very good work organisation and very good time management, high motivation,
  • Ability to work under pressure, reliability and loyalty, care and accuracy, dedicated and self-dependent work,
  • Communication and social skills, ability to work in a team.

Position 2: Administrator Amif Project

TASKS WILL ENCOMPASS

  • Compliant expenditure of AMIF funds in Ethiopia,
  • Payments: Preparing and monitoring all AMIF payments,
  • Review of accounting documents,
  • Support bookkeeping,
  • Controlling of AMIF funds,
  • Reporting: especially on time interim and final reports,
  • Budget balancing and supporting annual financial statements and internal interim financial statements,
  • Filing of documents,
  • General administrative tasks.

All tasks will involve adherence and monitoring of adherence to internal regulations, AMIF regulations, Ethiopian laws, and German and European Union laws and regulations and German accounting practices according to “HGB”. The ERP system will be SAP.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed commercial training or undergraduate studies (e.g. Administration, business etc.),
  • Work permit for Ethiopia,
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office applications,
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English and German (at least B1 level) and possibly the willingness to improve German,
  • Willingness to familiarise with complex German regulations available mostly in German only,
  • Professional experience in finance and accounting desirable,
  • Experience with foreign publicly funded organisations desirable,
  • Good SAP knowledge desirable or willingness to familiarise with SAP and German HGB accounting practices,
  • Very good work organisation and very good time management, high motivation,
  • Punctuality, friendly and professional attitude and intercultural competence,
  • Ability to work under pressure, reliability and loyalty, care and accuracy,
  • Dedicated and self-dependent work,
  • Very good communication and social skills, ability to work in a team.
