JSI would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Digitization Expert [Survey CTO]

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data entry templates using SurveyCTO.
  • Define range, skip and consistency checks, variable and value labels as appear in the questionnaires.
  • Test and edit forms before and during deployment.
  • In coordination with the research coordinators and data collection supervisors, ensure that the surveys are correctly programmed and functional.
  • Develop and conduct SurveyCTO training for the research team.
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise with the survey.
  • Perform data quality assurance.
  • Document and submit all the survey digitization development and deployment process and steps.
  • Report activities progress according to the requirements.
  • Perform other activities related to the digitization of tools when assigned by the research coordinator.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of first degree in computer science, statistics, social science, or health informatics.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in survey software (extensive previous experience with SurveyCTO is preferred).
  • Experience with data management and protection.
  • Experience working on and analysing data from large-scale experiments.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Very good business correspondence and report writing skills.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak, write, and read in English.

Position 2: Innovations Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Team Lead: Training and Innovation to meet key milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges related to innovations to Activity implementation.
  • Develop SOP on how to select innovations, roll out and document lessons for wider scale implementation to improve Quality of care
  • Lead all the necessary preparations for introduction and implementation of innovations
  • Work on advocacy for relevant stakeholders e.g. MOH, TWG, etc. for introduction of innovative approaches and technologies to improve QI with relevant technical advisors
  • Work closely with Area Implementation Teams and implementation Director to ensure enabling environment to facilitate  implementation of innovations
  • Represent the Activity in various technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Interact with other organizations to capture best practices and establish collaboration.
  • Participate in the project management and USAID team meeting as required and provide updates on innovative approaches.
  • Collaborate with MEL and Communication team to establish a monitoring system (e.g., indicators and data collection methodologies) and prepare protocols and tools to track reach of effectiveness of innovations;
  • Support documentations of lessons and publish documents like technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices in collaboration with specific technical advisors and knowledge management team, and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of operations research in relation to innovations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Advanced degree in public health, health system management/administration, or related field
  • At least 7 (seven) years of progressively increasing technical leadership, including experience with direct supervision of professional staff, preferably with a program of an equivalent size and scope is highly desired.
  • Experience in managing innovation is highly preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and team work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USAID’s policies, priorities and projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience of working along the health system – from community, primary health care units and referral hospitals and proven track record of innovation management.
  • Experience of interacting with local governments, international organizations, other bilateral donor and civil society representatives, and senior level government officials is desired.
  • Experience managing and coordinating USAID-funded complex multi-sectoral development programs, in Ethiopia is desired.
  • Speaking of more than one local language is a plus.

Position 3: Adolescent and Youth Health Advisor

Duties and responsibilities:

  • In consultation with RMNCAH Team Lead and other teams of the Activity, design and implement AYH interventions in the interventions sites at different levels of the health system.
  • Develop AYH annual and other plans as required of the Activity in consultation with the RMNCAH team lead and other teams of the Activity.
  • Write quarter and annual AYH reports of the Activity.
  • Develop AYH related manuals, guidelines, standard operating procedures, protocols and other documents as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct operational research on AYH in collaboration with research, monitoring-evaluation-learning (MEL) and knowledge management (KM) teams.
  • Publish AYH related documents including technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices of the Activity in collaboration with knowledge management team and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Provide AYH technical assistance to area implementation team, consortium member partners, government entities and others as required. 
  • Participate in the Activity meetings as required and provide updates on AYH innovative and strategic approaches.
  • Represent the Activity in various AYH technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Work closely with RMNCAH team lead and other Activity members to meet key milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges to the Activity’s AYH related implementations.
  • Collaborate with other USAID and non-USAID investments on AYH to capture best practices, identify potential AYH related interventions for scale up and continuity.
  • Collaborate with MEL and KM team to establish a monitoring system to track quality and reach of activities; ensure lessons learned from implementation inform adaptation.
  • Specific responsibilities also include working on youth integration strategy, youth Friendly Services (YFS), meaningful engagement of the young, digital platforms for youth-focused information dissemination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity.

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health fields with specialized training and/or experience related to AYH.
  • At least Seven (7) years of experience working on AYH technical and programmatic areas.
  • Having an experiences of working on gender and social inclusion is a plus.
  • Experience on protocols, manuals and training materials development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to promote team work and effort.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience of working along the health system from community to primary health care units and referral hospitals.
  • Experience of interacting with local governments, international organizations, other bilateral donor and civil society representatives.
  • Computer skills in word, power point and Excel.
  • Skills in data processing.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to create rapport with the youth.
  • Being able to communicate with more than one local language is a plus.

Position 4: Immunization Advisor

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with RMNCAH team lead and other Activity members to meet key milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges to the Activity’s Immunization related implementations.
  • Collaborate with other USAID and non-USAID investments on Immunization to capture best practices, identify potential Immunization related interventions for scale up and continuity.
  • Develop the Immunization annual plans of the Activity in consultation with the RMNCAH team lead and other teams of the Activity.
  • Write quarter and annual immunization related reports of the Activity.
  • Provide technical assistance to area implementation team, partners, government entities and others on areas of immunization. 
  • Represent the Activity in various immunization related technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Develop manuals, guidelines, standard operating procedures, protocols and other documents related to immunization.
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct operational research on immunization in collaboration with MEL and research teams.
  • Publish documents like technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices in collaboration with knowledge management team and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Participate in the Activity meetings as required and provide updates on innovative/strategic approaches.
  • Collaborate with MEL and Communication team to establish a monitoring system (e.g., indicators and data collection methodologies) to track quality and reach of activities; ensure that lessons learned from project implementation inform field discourse and programmatic decisions at all levels.
  • Specific responsibilities include working on capacity enhancement, second year of life (2YL) immunization service, new vaccines introduction, surveillance of adverse events following immunization, cold Chain Maintenance, supplementary immunization activities, epidemics response, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity.

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health fields with specialized training and/or experience related to immunization.
  • At least 7 (seven) years of technical and programmatic experience on immunization.
  • Experience on protocols, manuals and training materials development.

Duties and responsibilities

  • In consultation with RMNCAH Team Lead and other teams of the Activity, design and implement MH interventions in the interventions sites at different levels of the health system.
  • Develop MH annual plans of the Activity in consultation with the RMNCAH team lead and other teams of the Activity.
  • Write quarter and annual MH reports of the Activity.
  • Provide technical assistance to area implementation team, consortium member partners, government entities and others on areas of MH. 
  • Develop MH related manuals, guidelines, standard operating procedures, protocols and other documents as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct operational research on MH in collaboration with research, monitoring-evaluation-learning (MEL) and knowledge management (KM) teams.
  • Publish documents like technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices in collaboration with KM team and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Work closely with RMNCAH team lead and other Activity members to meet key MH milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges to the Activity’s MH implementations.
  • Participate in the Activity meetings as required and provide updates on MH innovative and strategic approaches.

  • Represent the Activity in various MH technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with other USAID and non-USAID investments on MH to capture best practices, identify potential MH related interventions for scale up and continuity.
  • Specific responsibilities include working on quality of care in preconception care, antenatal care (ANC), B/CEmONC, postnatal care (PNC), introduction of new MH technologies, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity.

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health fields with specialized training and/or experience related to MH [MD with specialty (obstetrics and gynecology specialty is a plus) or PhD preferred].
  • At least 10 years of technical and programmatic experience on MH.
  • Experience on protocols, manuals and training materials development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to promote team work and effort.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience of working along the health system – community, primary health care units and referral hospitals

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop NCH annual plans of the Activity in consultation with the RMNCAH team lead and other teams of the Activity.
  • In consultation with RMNCAH Team Lead and other teams of the Activity, design and implement NCH interventions in the interventions sites at different levels of the health system.
  • Write quarter and annual NCH reports of the Activity.
  • Provide technical assistance to area implementation team, consortium member partners, government entities and others on areas of NCH. 
  • Develop NCH related manuals, guidelines, standard operating procedures, protocols and other documents as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct operational research on NCH in collaboration with research, monitoring-evaluation-learning (MEL) and knowledge management (KM) teams.
  • Publish NCH documents including technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices in collaboration with knowledge management team and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Participate in the Activity meetings as required and provide updates on NCH innovative and strategic approaches.
  • Represent the Activity in various NCH technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Work closely with RMNCAH team lead and other Activity members to meet key NCH milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges to the Activity’s NCH related implementations.
  • Collaborate with other USAID and non-USAID investments on NCH to capture best practices, identify potential NCH related interventions for scale up and continuity.
  • Collaborate with MEL and KM teams to establish a monitoring system to track quality and reach of activities; ensure lessons learned from implementation inform adaptation.
  • Specific responsibilities include working on essential newborn care, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care, family centered care, introduction of NCH innovations, early childhood development, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity.

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health fields with specialized training and/or experience related to Newborn and Child health [MD with specialty (pediatrics and child health specialty is a plus) or PhD preferred].
  • At least 10 (ten) years of technical and programmatic experience on NCH.
  • Experience on protocols, manuals and training materials development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to promote team work and effort.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience of working along the health system – community, primary health care units and referral hospitals
  • Experience of interacting with local governments, international organizations, other bilateral donor and civil society representatives, and senior level government officials is desired.
  • Computer skills in word, power point and Excel.

  • In consultation with RMNCAH Team Lead and other teams of the Activity, design and implement FP interventions in the interventions sites at different levels of the health system.
  • Write quarter and annual RH/FP reports of the Activity.
  • Develop RH/FP related manuals, guidelines, standard operating procedures, protocols and other documents as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for and conduct operational research on RH/FP in collaboration with research, monitoring-evaluation-learning (MEL) and knowledge management (KM) teams.
  • Publish documents like technical briefs, lessons learned, best practices in collaboration with KM team and share with stakeholders on different fora.
  • Provide technical assistance to area implementation team, consortium member partners, government entities and others on areas of RH/FP. 
  • Participate in the Activity meetings as required and provide updates on FP innovative and strategic approaches.
  • Represent the Activity in various RH/FP technical meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Work closely with RMNCAH team lead and other Activity members to meet key RH/FP milestones and deliverables, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot any challenges to the Activity’s RH/FP implementations.
  • Collaborate with other USAID and non-USAID investments on RH/FP to capture best practices, identify potential RH/FP interventions for scale up and continuity.
  • Collaborate with MEL and KM teams to establish a monitoring system to track quality and reach of activities; ensure lessons learned from implementation inform adaptation.
  • Specific responsibilities include working on RH/FP capacity enhancement, gap filling FP supply, integration of FP services, expansion of postpartum FP, introduction of new contraceptive technologies, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity.
