It was established with an initial capital of 200,000,000 Birr (two hundred million Birr) and increased the capital in the following years. The company was established with the objective of manufacturing and marketing of metal products. The industry is built on a total area of 53,000 square meters.
WSI was established to address the severe shortage of building materials in Ethiopia and to support the national effort to ensure economic development by creating job opportunities for our citizens and benefiting from social problems.
When WSI was established, it was the first private steel industry at that time. As one of the steel industries in the country and which has achieved rapid growth, WSI has rapidly shaped the Ethiopian steel sector and expanded its operations to the wider African market.
