Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid in more than 70 countries to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
Main Purpose:
Supervising the daily logistics activities and providing maintenance to the MSF equipment, facilities and infrastructures, according to MSF standards and protocols in order to maintain the facilities in perfect conditions and collaborate in the development of the mission.
Medicins Sans Frontieres-Belgium (MSF-Belgium) would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.
Position 1: Logistics Supervisor Local Status
Accountabilities
- Monitoring maintenance activities of infrastructures, management of non-medical stocks and equipment according to MSF standards
- Ensuring the check and follow-up of facilities under the line manager’s supervision through daily visits to the facilities and reporting any anomalies or problems, evaluation of the rehabilitation needs and following up minor building rehabilitation work according to supervisor’s instructions; checking that premises observe security norms and monitoring the consumption of mechanical and electrical vehicles/machines/devices
- Planning together with the line manager the required checks and maintenance activities of energy systems/set-up according to MSF standards
- Coordinating and leading the logistics team under his/her responsibility which includes daily supervision, monitoring of the quality of work and the definition of each person’s task, drawing up their working schedules; organizing and leading team meetings; participating in the recruitment of team personnel and attending logistics meetings and accounting for his activities
- Ensuring the vehicle fleet maintenance which includes planning and overseeing timely preventive and curative maintenance of all project vehicles according to MSF standards and Instructing and monitoring drivers on correct driving habits and standard checks
- Managing and following up orders which includes collecting logistics orders coming from different departments or health facilities; drawing up and following up orders according to the procedures in force; providing technical support to the storekeeper, makes local purchases according to MSF supply procedures and ensures reception conditions of freight or arriving material as well as the organization and setting up of materials before its shipment.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications and Professional Experience:
Education: Essential secondary education and diploma in construction, electrical, mechanical or IT field.
Work Experience: At least one year in MSF or 2 years in a similar post out of MSF
Language: Mandatory: Amharic and English
Competencies: Commitment to MSF principles and honesty.
Flexibility and ability to adapt to change in schedules.
Stress Management
Ability to work at both team and independent levels

Position 2: Pharmacy Supervisor – Local Status
Job Responsibilities
- Ensuring storage, stock management, and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, tools, and protocols (controlling pests and rodents), implementing appropriate quality controls and records, in order to ensure good storage conditions (temperatures, humidity, and light exposure) and availability of drugs and medical material, according to MSF protocols, national regulations and in cooperation with the logistics department.
- Coordinating the delivery, reception, and recording of international and local orders, in close coordination with the logistics department, updating stock files, and informing line managers on their status (shortfalls, over-stocking, expiry dates), in order to permanently ensure security stock levels and ensure efficient management of stock.
- Supervising orders of medical and drug material in order to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints.
- Supervising the supply of drugs to patients, according to medical prescriptions, informing them on consumption patterns, and keeping conditions in order to ensure their therapeutic progression.
- Ensuring efficient supply to other pharmacies managed/supported by MSF according to orders and stocks and using cold chain when needed. Monitoring and analyzing orders of depending pharmacies in order to avoid ruptures of stock or having expired drugs.
- Supervising, with the HR department, the associated processes (sizing, staff shifts, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development, and internal/external communication) of the pharmaceutical team and the nursing staff, in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required and to improve their dispensing capabilities.
- Recording all items received and issued in computer (Isystock) and reporting on drug consumptions and medical equipment dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns as well as forecasting future needs, in order to rationalize the budget and to ensure availability.
- Assisting in training nursing staff regarding dispensing of drugs and their side effects
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Recording all items received and issued on a computer (Isystock), sharing backup to mission pharmacist weekly and management of consumption and the stock movements – ins/outs by respecting FEFO and FIFO rule.
- Preparing monthly medical orders and sharing to PMR for approval.
- Regularly visiting Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) ward & Pharmacy at Jinka General Hospital and Mobile clinic to support and monitor on medicine management.
- Assist the medical team NAM, NTS and MAM on preparing the request of medication for mobile clinic and VL ward on weekly basis depending on the need.
- Preparing different kits depending up on the need and updating regularly
- Update emergency boxes, staff health box for guest house and First Aid Kits in the cars on regular basis
- Assist mobile clinics in dispensing and mentoring.
- Ensure proper monitoring and content management for cold chain items in coordination with PMR
- Provide trainings and ensure cold chain protocols are respected and contingency plan is developed and is in place.
- Organize training on regular basis for the medical team regarding rational medicine use
- Ensure that all supplies that get out of the project pharmacy is validated by the PMR or delegated person
- Perform any other duties given by supervisor.
Job Requirements
Education: BSC Degree in Pharmacy and renewed professional license.
Experience: At least a total of relevant 3 years’ experience in pharmacy, and at least 1 year of certified work experience as a pharmacy supervisor, an experience as pharmacy manager is Desirable & preferable
Language: Essential English and Amharic.
