Mercy Corps Ethiopia would like to invite qualified and interested job seekers to apply for the following different position.

Position 1: – CLA Intern

CLA interns will have the following duties and responsibilities.

The CLA Intern will provide support and work in close collaboration with CLA team and program staff in the field in MEL related activities (tracking, reporting, planning, PDM data collection supervision, reviewing, joint technical assistance and supportive supervision.

The intern will work with the CLA team to provide assistance to CLA and CARM officer on MEL plan, monthly CARM feedback collection and data entry, CARM activity sensitization, reporting, and feedback management.

Work with MEL/CLA team and program staff at Field office level on IPTS data collection and submission on Commcare (RIPA C2 and C3 institutions); compiling, analyzing and disseminating to improve performance, learning activities and informed decision.

Handle REACH monthly Joint Market Monitoring Initiative (JMMI) data collection and submission through Kobo Toolbox in Harar and Dire Dawa Cities.

Provide supportive supervision of field work and produce field reports.

Participate or engage in MEL/CLA knowledge management and learning activities.

Conduct herself/himself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Efficiently fill other duties or ad-hoc requests from MEL/CLA team up on delegation or assignment, if any.

Job Requirements

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

One letter of recommendation from a university / higher institution on the candidate’s personal integrity and sense of responsibility.

The intern must be a university graduated (not more than 1 year after graduation

BA/BSC degree in Statistics, Development studies, Economics, and related fields

Committed to participate in Mercy Corps Internship program for 6 months as an intern with small stipend.

Fluent in local Language, Somali, and Excellent in English (MC working language), and the candidate must also from local area (Somali Region)

Who can bring/submit one recommendation letter from the University on the intern’s personal integrity and sense of responsibilities.

Position 2: – MSD Intern

Job Requirements

Ideal Candidate Should Possess The Following Qualification And Skills:

  • BA/MA in Economics, Business, Argo-Economics, management and other related field of study.
  • One letter of recommendation from a university / higher institution on the candidate’s personal integrity and sense of responsibility.
  • Graduated from University in the past three years
  • Zero years of work experience required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Excellent knowledge of spoken & written Local Language/Oromifa/ and English

Position 3: – TEAM LEAD: Livestock Production and Marketing

Knowledge and Experience

  • MSc/MA in field of livestock, agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, or related field
  • At least 7 years for MA/S and 9 years for BA work experience with for profit organization, non-governmental organization (NGO) or profit agribusiness working with vulnerable, marginalized and pastoralists/agro-pastoralist groups.
  • 5+ years’ proven experience in innovative value chain development or Market system Development approaches business models using best practices. Experience in Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) programming approaches and methodologies, and private-sector program partnerships is desired.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in pastoral and agro-pastoral/dry lands production system is desirable.
  • Experience with the development, implementation & compliance of donor funded programs including USAID agreements and strong understanding of USAID rules and regulations and compliance issues.
  • Established ability to manage and communicate effectively with team members of varied work styles.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving with proven ability to be accountable for all components of the program.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, lead a program to achieve stated results and objectives.
  • Ability to effectively represent Mercy Corps and its interests to a wide range of key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with host governments, national and international NGOs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills required.
  • Preference given to candidates with prior experience in Ethiopia.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team in a sensitive environment.
  • Internationally recognized qualification in project or program management or a commitment to obtain the qualification in the early months of work.

Position 4: – TEAM LEAD: Diversified Economic Opportunities

Minimum Qualification and Transferable Skills

  • Master’s degree  in economics, Business, Management, Finance, Agribusiness, agricultural economics, Entrepreneurship, or related field
  • 5-7 years work experience with for profit organization, or  non-governmental organization (NGO) working with vulnerable, marginalized and pastoralists/agro-pastoralist groups, or have  pro poor business model.
  • 5+ years’ proven experience in System thinking, Market system development, innovative value chain development or business models using best practices to address the need of the bottom of the pyramid. 
  • Knowledge and experience working on alternative livelihood issues in the pastoral areas, especially associated with individuals transitioning out of pastoralism and out of school.
  • Experience with the development, implementation & compliance of donor funded programs including USAID agreements and strong understanding of USAID rules, regulations, and compliance issue.
  • Established ability to manage and communicate effectively with team members of varied work styles.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving.
  • Experience working with host governments, national and international NGOs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Internationally recognized qualification in project or program management or a commitment to obtain the qualification in the early months of work.
