Position 1: – Portal Development Expert
Scope of Work:
Design and develop:
An online dashboard facility and system that systematically collect and integrates relevant gender data from PSI hosted database as well as different multiple sources (e.g., CSS ,DHS ,MOWSA, World bank gender data portal, UNICEF,UN-WOMen ILO data, and its partner agencies ; and facilitate the dissemination gender data as well as data. The integration aims to pull data from the in-house research database and publish it on the portal. The data will be fetched and displayed in real-time, ensuring that the most up-to-date information is always available to the users with
Database Access: The system must have read access to the in-house research database.
Data Mapping: A clear mapping between the database fields and the portal display fields must be established.
Security: The integration must adhere to the highest security standards to protect the data
- A research hub, ensuring user-friendly navigation, accessibility, and compatibility with global standard through a bi-lingual hub to cater for the multiple audiences.
- A database and establish a system for managing and organizing research publications, reports, and other relevant resources.
- A content management and quality control measures as per the industry standards/best practices
- A facility enabler pool of experts and dedicated team to respond to user and stakeholders request.
- Database that brings gender data together relevant data from multiple sources and making readily them available and accessible
- A Help desk to provide space for A tailored ‘query’ service, advice and technical assistance service on various related aspects to facilitate virtual dialogue, consultation and mutual learning
- Advanced online discussion forum functions including discussion threads and sub-questions, and user-created discussion spaces.
- A a repository of ‘practices’ profiles with Interactive dashboard displaying key information in the repository
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Skills
The PSI hereby invites interested professionals to submit their applications with their qualification documents, and CVs which will be the basis for the selection of the professional. The Portal Development Expert shall fulfill the following minimum qualification criteria:
- A minimum of Maters Degree in Software Engineering, Information technology, Computer Engineering, Project Management or other IT related fields
- A minimum of 10 (Ten) Years of experience in developing and implementing Portal Development and administration
- Proven experience in portal development, with expertise in developing research platforms or knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Previous experience in developing portal and database systems for research institutes and international NGOs; preferably having experience with PSI
- Excellent knowledge of research dissemination best practices and current trends in the education sector.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and adapt to their specific requirements.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of user experience design principles and accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with content management systems and database management.
Primary Skill: Jahia CMS, REACTJS, HTML5, Bootstrap CSS. Secondary Skill: Java, Web Services – SOAP/REST/GraphQL, HP-ALM/JIRA
- Demonstrated ability and experience with Java, JavaScript, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
- Proficient with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies like Agile/Scrum/Kanban.
- In depth knowledge of user interface development tech stack and frameworks such as, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, Typescript, AJAX, etc.
