Solidarités International would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following positions.

Position 1: Liaison and Support Officer

Description of the position:

The Liaison and Support Officer is leading all administrative protocols for our head office in Addis Ababa, from visa or work permit for our international employees to the validation of project agreements or even supporting imports’ validation. You will therefore have to develop a strong network with the different administrative authorities.

This position will also carry a wide range of tasks related to our newly opened office: accountancy, cash management, human resources management, procurement, office and fleet management.

Administration:

In this role, you will monitor changes in regulations and administrative procedures, promptly alerting your line manager to any significant developments affecting the organization. You will also be responsible for establishing and nurturing relationships with administrative bodies, ensuring that you have the necessary documents, and managing administrative procedures. Additionally, daily reporting on ongoing procedures and archiving of documentation will be expected.

Translation:

You will be called upon to translate official documents when required, as well as provide simultaneous interpretation during meetings.

Support to Administrative Management of Personnel:

This position will require your support in various aspects of personnel management. You will participate in the recruitment and hiring processes as archiving and monitoring of individual files and deliver all documents relative to the professional life of Solidarités International employees. In addition, you’ll handle tax and duty calculations, and ensure the confidentiality of HR data.

Treasury – Accounting – Management:

Your responsibilities in treasury, accounting, and management will include supervising cash boxes, issuing vouchers, payment receipts, and necessary accounting documents and recording it all in our system.

Procurement:

You will keep up to date price lists and supplier databases and seeking suppliers based on organizational needs. Handling quote requests, preparing and archiving purchase folders, implementing purchases, and negotiating terms and delivery methods with suppliers are all key responsibilities.

Management of Vehicle Fleet:

Your duties in this area will involve assisting in the planning and execution of service work on vehicles, organizing weekly vehicle movements, monitoring vehicle log books and fuel consumption.

Management of Premises:

You will be responsible for monitoring the conditions of the organization’s various premises. This will also include overseeing maintenance operations in collaboration with the appropriate suppliers.

Education: Secondary education or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.

Skills: Strong communication, Excel proficiency, and effective representation with administration are key.

Work Experience: 1 year in logistics or administration, ideally in development and humanitarian contexts. Proven ability to navigate with authorities and regulations is crucial.

Language: English proficiency is essential; Amharic fluency is essential, other local languages is an asset.

Qualities: support-oriented, excellent communicator, responsible, organized, and quick to react.

Position 2: Wash Activity Manager

Description of the position:

The WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Activity Manager plays a pivotal role in achieving Solidarités international’s mandate of delivering emergency activities. This role is contributing to the development of humanitarian projects from the diagnostic and project conception stage to the final monitoring and capitalization step. This position is key in the implementation phase by managing the operational teams, local partners, authorities, overseeing the planning of execution and link with other departments (procurement, finance…).

Diagnostics and project conception:

As a WASH Activity Manager, you will participate in the preparation and implementation of diagnostics to assess community needs. You will be responsible for preparing the necessary technical documents, including logical frameworks for operation proposals and make sure it is aligned with the annual operational strategy and adhered to Solidarités International’s technical standards.

Implementation and operational follow-up:

Your responsibilities are to plan WASH activities in collaboration with support departments, such as Administration and Logistics. You will continuously assess the relevance and effectiveness of interventions, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of populations and adapting programs as necessary. Your goal will be to achieve objectives and define monitoring indicators for WASH activities with the different Solidarités International management and monitoring tools. You will anticipate challenges and facilitate solutions.

Capitalization:

You will be responsible for writing capitalization documents using Solidarités International tools to document project knowledge and facilitate the dissemination of technical documentation.

Human Resource Management (HRM):

In the realm of Human Resource Management (HRM), your key responsibilities will include spearheading the recruitment and orientation of technical staff for WASH activities under your direct management. Your management position will encompass conducting workshops and meetings, evaluating the performance of team members, and ensuring that safety rules are diligently followed within your team.

 Reporting/communication/representation:

As a WASH Activity Manager, you will report on the progress of activities and contribute to donor reporting and potential amendments. Maintaining a local operational communication with local/governmental authorities, donor representatives and other international organizations is part of your representation role.

Job Requirements

Profile desired:

Studies: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field of WaSH, Public Health or Environmental Health.

Work Experience: 1 year of experience on a lower position or equivalent in one of the fields of expertise / in the development and humanitarian context is an asset.

Language: English Professional Working Proficiency. Fluent in Amharic.

Skills: planning and organizing activities assessments and project, Excel proficiency, management of team, supervision of suppliers, external representation, communication and reporting.

Qualities: good communicator, trustworthiness and a sense of responsibility, organizational skills, reactivity.

Salary: From 740 to 1160 USD (paid in ETB, according experience on similar positions)

Position 3: Humanitarian and Access Officer

Description of the position:

The Humanitarian and Access Officer is directly working with the top head of our organization in the intervention area and contribute to our operational access and coordination with the different stakeholders.

This position is also deeply involved in the security information collection and analysis. You will therefore have to develop a strong network.

Security:

As a Humanitarian and Access Officer, your responsibilities encompass security management. This involves collecting vital information,analyzing contextual information and drafting reports. You will carry out security checks for team departures into the field, ensuring movement tracking.

Representation in humanitarian forums:

In your role, you will also represent Solidarités International during humanitarian and security coordination meetings. Ensuring that the organization’s message aligns with its mandate and programs will be a key part of your responsibilities. Regular visits to Solidarités International’s intervention sites will be realised to strengthen relationships.

Represent the organisation toward civilian authorities, security forces, traditional and community leaders

You will represent the organization towards civilian authorities, security forces, traditional and community leaders. Meeting authorities and providing support during discussions will be expected. In addition, you will prepare and negotiate project agreements with the relevant authorities. You will also represent Solidarités during assessments, monitoring, and evaluations with authorities, and will maintain regular contacts with them. Other tasks will include maintaining a contact list of local stakeholders, keeping abreast of changes in administrative procedures and fostering relations with administrative bodies.

Humanitarian monitoring:

You will serve as the communication bridge between local and international NGOs. Attending meetings and actively participating in the drafting of Solidarités International’s intervention strategy in the zone are critical.

Translation / interpretation:

You will be called upon to translate official documents when required, as well as provide simultaneous interpretation during meetings.

Job Requirements

Studies: Bachelor’s or equivalent, in a relevant field is an asset

Work Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in the sector of safety context analysis and team management, in the development and humanitarian context is an asset

Languages: English professional working. Proficiency in Amharic or Oromiffa. Gumuzigna, Shinashigna, Agewigna or Berta are an asset.

Skills: context and security analysis, external representation, dialogue with public authorities and partners

Qualities: good communicator, trustworthiness and a sense of responsibility, organizational skills, reactivity

Salary: From 1000 to 1160 USD (paid in ETB, according experience on similar positions)

Workplace: Addis Ababa
