ZOA would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following Positions.

Position 1: Peacebuilding Project Officer

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ensure that all planned activities in ZOA’s peacebuilding projects  are implemented and documented;
  • Conduct consultation and training workshops, Provide capacity building for  Community Cohesion facilitators, sport coaches,   Regional, Zonal  and Woreda peacebuilding  actors;
  • Provide support in terms of mentoring, coaching and training community cohesion facilitators and sport coaches for the purpose of strengthening the peaceful coexistence, unity  and reconciliation within and between host Communities and Refugees;
  • Ensure and monitor the daily activities of community cohesion facilitators and sport coaches
  • Assist in organizing school peace clubs, peacebuilding dialogues, intergroup reconciliation and sport competition and develop peacebuilding action plans per woreda, refugee camps as well as schools;
  • Conduct community dialogues, intergroup reconciliation and sport competition at Camp, Woreda, Zone and regional  levels;
  • Organize at Camp, Woreda, Zone  and regional  levels consultation to agree on strategy and bylaws for implementing action plan from intergroup reconciliation and community dialogues;
  • Assist in the capacity building and training of youth in conflict prevention and leadership to serve as agents of peace in the counties;
  • Represent ZOA at relevant functions as may be requested by the line Managers;
  • Support and carry out monitoring and evaluation activities for the ZOA  peacebuilding program in collaboration with the senior MEAL officer, external consultants and under the guidance of the Peacebuilding Project Coordinator;
  • Develop project implementation tools including implementation manual, Project Implementation Plans (PIPs), M&E Plans, procurement plans, weekly/monthly work plans as may be necessary.
  • Develop appropriate publicity materials like stories, photos and case studies as needed;
  • Document community and stakeholders’ feedback and share with relevant stakeholders for appropriate action.
  • Ensure that project administration is in order, properly executed and up to date;
  • Prepare Terms of Reference, monthly report, weekly updates and contribute to donor and ZOA’s quarterly reports;
  • Work closely and maintain positive relationships  with ZOA’s partners and  all relevant actors in programme area, to ensure the full implementation of the project;
  • Participate in all capacity building initiatives, filed assessments, monitoring,  community dialogues, sport competitions as required;
  • Ensuring that any Safety, Security and Safeguarding concerns are addressed immediately and in line with ZOA Policy.
  • Performs other related activities as required.

1. Compensation

Competitive salaries and financial security – we know how important these are to you and your family.

2.  Allowances

  • Transportation allowance:  ETB 5,000  per month.
  • Airtime Allowance: We provide data and airtime to enable you to conduct your work outside of the office.
  • we provide a closed user group so you can speak to your colleagues at no cost.
  • Food Allowance: we provide lunch daily at our offices, ZOA pays 600 ETB per month and staff contribute 400 ETB per month.
  • Severance payment: one month’s salary for an extra service year.
  • Hardship Allowance: If you are working in identified places as a remote and hazardous by the government, you will be entitled 20-40% additional allowances of their basic salary. Therefore, we provide 40% hardship allowance to ZOA employees working in Gambella, Dollo Ado and Shire field offices.
  • Transfer Allowance: We provide transfer allowance of 10,000 ETB If, in case of you permanently shift or transfer to a new programme area.

Competencies, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Personal qualities of integrity and commitment to ZOA’s mission; proactive, hands-on and confident communicator who will work positively and helpfully with programmes and operations colleagues in ZOA Ethiopia
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public administration and Management, Development studies, Peace building security and governance, International relations or related fields;
  • Minimum of at least three years’ experience in working on peace building project, governance issues with civil society;
  • Experience in projects planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning;
  • Knowledge of the key issues and trends in Peace building and conflict resolution;
  • Past work experience in Gambella Regional State is desirable;
  • Ability to work independently as a part of a team to implement the project;
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically;
  • Fluency in English – written and verbal;
  • Ability to communicate in local languages is desirable;
  • Experience in Field data analysis packages;
  • Effective IT Skills (Microsoft Office);
  • Planning, narrative and financial reporting skills;
  • Communication, tact and negotiation skills;
  • Conceptual understanding of peace building and conflict resolution.
  • Good knowledge and understanding in demonstrating gender awareness and sensitivity and organization code of conduct;
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of the team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations;

Position 2: Community Based socio-therapy (CBS) Project Officer

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ensure that all planned activities in ZOA’s peacebuilding projects are implemented and documented;
  • Provide direct support, guidance, coaching and mentoring to CBS facilitators and coordinate the CBS sessions implementation to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Participate in community based socio-therapy (CBS) de-brief and peer review sessions with CBS facilitators at every phases of the sessions and report on progress, challenges and way forward;
  • Coordinate all sites preparation for conversations, and mobilize participants for each group  and follow-up the progress of Socio-therapy sessions;
  • Liaise and  work with  Woreda government officials, RRS and UNHCR and ensure that leaders in project locations are  given sensitization training on CBS and rights based peacebuilding;
  • Represent ZOA in coordination and thematic meetings in the  camps and woreda  Camps
  • Follow  the mobile court supports and report on progress, challenges and way forward;
  • Maintain positive relationships with all relevant actors in programme area including local authority, ARRA, UNHCR, women/youth groups, elders, traditional and religious leaders etc;
  • Attend Government’s coordination sectorial meetings at camp and woreda level;
  • Conduct community dialogues, and intergroup reconciliation at Camp, Woreda, Zone and regional  levels;

Position 3: rainee Grants Coordinator

Purpose of the position

A Grants Coordinator contributes to the country programme team and gains working experience in the field of the development sector for the period of one year.

II. Main activities

1. Grant Management

  • Ensure all new projects have a professional and formal launch, both internally and externally, ensuring all staff members and stakeholders understand their contribution for the project’s success.
  • Ensure each project has the appropriate MoUs/LoUs to enable timely project start
  • Provide coaching and support to ZOA Ethiopia team members to ensure that all projects are implemented in line with donor requirements.
  • Take a lead role on informing and obtaining timely approvals from donors for all change requests, i.e. activity, location, budget, etc.
  • Facilitate the monthly project review meetings and follow up on agreed action points.
  • Ensure all projects are properly closed, in line with donor and ZOA requirements, including  internal and external closure/handover meetings.  

2. Reporting

  • Take the lead role in ensuring that all project reports are submitted on time to agreed quality standards.
  • Manage the internal reporting schedule and provide coaching and support to ZOA Ethiopia team members to deliver timely and high quality submissions.
  • Ensure all project documentation is saved in ZOA’s SharePoint

3. Partnership Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with potential and existing donors, partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to ZOA’s good external profile.
  • Be the focal point for existing donor teams based in Addis Ababa, engaging in relevant meetings and ensuring action points are completed.
  • Ensure local partners submit quality reports on time and assess annually ZOA’s contribution to their capacity building goals.

4. Visibility and Communications

  • Ensure ZOA Ethiopia team members understand and comply with ZOA and donors’ visibility and communication guidelines.
  • Ensure all visibility and communication materials are compliant with ZOA and donor guidelines/protocols before printing/distribution.
  • Ensure ZOA’s externally focused communication platforms (website and social media) reflect ZOA Ethiopia’s achievements and successes.

5. Continuous improvement

  • Coordinate with Grants Manager and organize periodical learning workshops to discuss on ZOA Ethiopia’s areas of improvement and strengths taking own experience on grant management, reporting, use of ZOA Manager…etc.
  • Coordinate with Grants Manger and provide capacity-building training for team on quality reporting

Competencies and education

Knowledge

  • Bachelor degree or University degree in a humanitarian, development or other relevant field;
  • Command of English is essential;
