Position 1: Infrastructure Development Supervisor

Job Summary:

The purpose of the infrastructure development supervisor’s position is to to lead the design and construction of water schemes for uplift project. The job holder will make sure that the design and construction works of the water schemes are environment friendly, which will be guided by environmental impact assessment. She/he is expected to prepare bill of quantities, tender documents and schedule of implementation, facilitate and supervise water scheme construction works of the project as per the standard design, specifications and guidelines of the government water resources construction/management policy and protocols.   She/he will make sure the full participation of communities and government counterparts in the selection of water scheme sites (for rehabilitation/new construction/expansion), monitoring the quality of water schemes construction, validating the quality of water schemes final deliverables in compliance with design specifications and standards.

Education/Training

Required:

BSc. in Civil/Hydraulic Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering or related.

Experience:

Required:

5 years and above for BSc and 3 years and above for MSc

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Good communication and presentation skill
  • Able to work with simple technical and surveying equipment
  • Good knowledge of drafting techniques and principles
  • Ability to act in professional and ethical manner
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, participatory approach and sustainable development

Position 2: – Assistant Grant Officer

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Assistant Grant Officer is to  support the unit manager in the management of  awards and sub awards in compliance with CARE’s programming principles and policies and all  Donor, and governemnt  laws, rules and regulations. The position is required to support a range of activities outlined in the award management and sub award cycles. This inlcudes the provision of techncial support to an evolving program portfolio and partcipation in the development of  new proposals. The officer is also repsonsible for assisting to customer satisfaction (internal and external) and partcipating in process improvements based on feedback.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA degree in accounting or equivalent combination of work experience.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience for diploma holders 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar position.

Desired:

  • Previous development and NGO experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months Care internship service
  • Experience with USG and other Donor contract monitoring and reporting.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Well organized and  proven ability to act in  professional and ethical manner.
  • Good skills in computer applications.

Position 3: – GBV/PSS Officer

Job Summary:

GBV Protection and PSS (Psycho Social Support) officer position holder is responsible to provide coordination and supervision for effective implementation of Women Led in Emergency project at ground level. She will be also responsible for the strengthening healing services within WGSS and directly provide Gender, safeguarding and protection mainstreaming. In the respective woreda.

Education/Training

Required:

  • Degree in psychology, gender studies, sociology, social work, or related areas of focus from a recognized University.
  • NGO experience in humanitarian setting is a plus

Experience:

Required:

  • 3 years of relevant experience with the first degree and 2 years of relevant experience plus post graduate degree
  • Experience on implementing or leading Sexual and reproductive health and/or Gender focused projects in emergency
  • Experience on working with crisis affected community

Technical Skills

Required:

Position 4: – Project Team Leader

Job Summary/Scope:

Based in Afar Region, Aba’ala Woreda, the purpose of the “WLiE project team leader” is to support the effective implementation of CARE’s humanitarian program “Women Lead in Emergency: Afar Region, Aba’ala and Erebti woredas.  The post holder will be responsible for supporting gender-transformative programming that focuses on strengthening gender-based violence protection and response services as well as programming that strengthens and enables women’s voice and influence over decision making in public life- in the community, civil society, local government and more. Unequal power relations in society result in unjust distribution of resources and opportunities for women and girls to participate equally in society and result in unjust social norms that limit women’s voice and freedom from violence. 

To strengthen women’s voice and leadership opportunities within humanitarian crisis, this post holder will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of CARE’s “Women Lead in Emergencies” (WLiE) programming. This programming brings together gender in emergencies and governance programming to support women’s collective action and strengthen opportunities for greater participation and leadership in public life and in response to the humanitarian crisis. WLiE works with community-based women’s groups to create leadership opportunities and develop action plans to address issues of priority to them as a collective and to take on leadership positions themselves and/or engage with community leaders and humanitarian actors to influence decisions made on services and resources availability and accessibility in the community. In addition, the position holder is responsible to provide coordination and supervision for effective implementation of the project’s Women and Girls Safe Spaces activity implementation at ground level. S/he will be also responsible to directly provide technical and professional support for the staff working under her/his supervision (GBV/PSS officers and Community Facilitators).

Qualifications

Required:

  • B.A. Degree in gender, social sciences, psychology/social work Management Information Systems, gender studies, development studies, Statistics or related.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with first degree or 3 years relevant work experience for graduate degree in MEAL, GBV, Protection and Gender Equality and women empowerment and related tasks
  • Computer skills (Word processing, power point presentation, database management); data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English Language
  • Local language is (Afar-af) is required.
  • Experience in EMAP is an advantage.
  • Developing standard progress reporting

Desired:

  • M.A. Degree in Social Sciences, psychology/social work, gender studies, Development Studies, or related.
  • NGO experience on humanitarian settings in desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistical software like SPSS and experiences in database development applying common software like MS Access

Job Summary/Scop:

Based in Addis Ababa Head Office, the Gender Advisor (WLiE project) position is responsible for providing coordination and support to Women Lead in Emergency programming in Tigray and Afar regions. In addition to providing overall project coordination, s/he will be also responsible for directly providing technical and professional support in planning and implementing Women Lead in Emergency activities for WLiE project team members.

Education/Training

Required:

BA degree in gender/women’s empowerment, peace/conflict studies, psychology, social work, law, Public Health, or related areas of focus

Desired:

MA/Sc degree in gender, anthropology, Sociology, Developmental Studies and professional training in gender or related fields.

Experience:

Required:

  • At least 5-7 years of work experience in NGO and humanitarian settings.
  • Lead gender analysis.
  • Ability to adapt tools and deliver training (ToT)
  • Working with women’s empowerment groups at community level.
  • Working with Women’s Rights and Women led Organizations through mutual partnership.
  • Supporting knowledge management, learning and donor reporting.

Position 6: Project Manager

JOB SUMMARY/SCOP:

Based in Mekelle ,Tigray region, the project manager position is responsible to provide coordination and supervision of Women Lead in Emergency activities in Tigray and Afar regions.
