Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH would like to invites competent and interested candidates for the following position.

Position 1: Junior IT Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email.
  • Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers
  • Walk the customer through the problem-solving process
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Provide accurate information on IT products or services
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
  • Follow-up and update customer status and information
  • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
  • Manage Ethiotelecom related services within GIZ (Bill management, Post-paid Sim cards management etc.)
  • Perform technical evaluation on the IT items procurement
  • Perform technical inspection on the IT items delivered
  • Standardized laptops and desktops based on GIZ standard.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attentions.
  • Assist with onboarding of new users.
  • Maintain the IT asset list based on GIZ guideline
  • Perform related function as required.

Qualifications:

First degree on Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or equivalent. Graduates of the year 2022.

Professional experience

  • Maximum of 1 year of work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

Position 2: Internship, Finance and Administration

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of vouchers and make ready for payment.
  • Assist in follow-up of long outstanding receivables.
  • Assist in the monthly closing of vouchers to be sent to country office finance department.
  • Assist the proper labelling and filling of finance, procurement, and logistics files as per the standard formats.
  • Assist in Preparation of VAT claim and withholding tax payments.
  • Scanning and archiving of all finance and procurement related documents.
  • Assist in office facility maintenance and related tasks.
  • Assist in follow up of vehicle maintenance and fuel consumption records.
  • Closely work with accounting, procurement, and administration specialists to support and to build capacity in managing tasks related to the field of activities.
  • Assist in any other finance and administration related tasks as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, and other related fields from recognized university.
  • The candidate is preferred to be recently graduated no longer than two years

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  • Fluency in English, strong interpersonal qualities and communication skills
  • Ability and willing to work in a diverse cultural setting
  • Knowledge in digital technologies, Microsoft applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) is must and knowledge of office 365 and virtual meeting technologies are preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment and under strict deadlines.

Position 3: Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the data collection and analysis on the progress of activities over time and monitor results in line with the logical framework approaches (LFAs)
  • Support overseeing the periodic assessments baseline, midterm and final evaluation of projects in the programme.
  • Liaising with M&E coordinator and project partners to maximise the benefits of data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Provide technical support on M&E and evidence-based recommendations to project managers’, Programme Managers, Project Coordinators and Partners
  • Support partners and/or consultants in conducting baseline surveys, mid-term reviews and final evaluation.
  • Designing tools, checklists and schedules for collecting data at the input, output and outcome levels in association with the relevant programme staff and based on the changing needs and requirements of the Programme
  • ensures quality assurance on quantitative data and reports
  • Support in the writing of project reports
  • Prepare and report on M&E’s activities and plans of action
  • Carrying out routine field visits, on verification of project results and collecting data for potential case studies, taking progress monitoring photos
  • Update the monthly activity schedules and/or output trackers to feed into the M&E component of the quarterly progress report
  • Report the findings or trends from data analysis and identify the need for further analysis or evaluation as required
  • Coach and mentor and update programme staff and interns in M&E methods and approaches as required
  • Ensure consistency of approach at all levels in the M&E in collaboration with programme staff
  • Share learning from the M&E process and document case/success stories overall programming share with the wider team
  • Any other duties that may develop throughout the contract period and are assigned by the supervisor.

Tasks

Technical Processes (Reporting, reviewing and learning)

  • Tracks EnDev Ethiopia program/project achievement of milestones/indicators, through a consultative process, and report to Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator.
  • Consults and collaborates with key points of expertise over monitoring and evaluation, data towards the delivery of key EnDev Ethiopia program/project strategies.
  • Carries out the timely processing and dissemination of M&E findings and best practices to facilitate evidence-based planning, learning, and program decision-making.
  • Prepares and submits technical reports on time to donors and stakeholders according to agreed standards.

Networking and coordination

Maintains field visits to the regions following the requirements of the project.

Management and Coordination

  • Contribute to the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and documentation of project progress.
  • Regular follow-ups on regional engagements such as training, events, dissemination of promotional materials, frequency of data verification, coaching, visits, etc.
  • Supports quality monitoring exercises, evaluation, and communication by closely working with immediate superior
  • Compiles relevant information for collaborative activities and missions.

Knowledge Management

  • Contributes to the design, storing, processing and dissemination of information and knowledge products.
  • Develops, documents and disseminates project milestones and deliverables,
  • Collects and reports results/achievement of milestones and deliverables, and their effects on the project.

General Duties

  • Represents the interests and always acts on behalf of the GIZ EnDev Ethiopia program.
  • Carries out tasks relevant to the project/program which may not be explicitly mentioned in the job description.
  • Carries out tasks relevant for EnDev Ethiopia and another donors’ project/program which may not be explicitly mentioned in the JD.
  • Coordinates the use of office and transport facilities following the agreement on the use of facilities.
  • Assists and/or carries out other project activities and any other tasks as assigned.

  • Supports EnDev Ethiopia Monitoring and Evaluation activities as per the agreed plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor / master’s degree qualification in a relevant discipline, social sciences, or statistics; A qualification in monitoring and evaluation is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience, with practical experience working in Monitoring, Verification, and Evaluation.
  • Experience with / proficiency in the analysis, management, and synthesis of varied quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience in working with Results-Based Monitoring for development results.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal skills in English, with additional local knowledge, is an advantage.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to forge consensus and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated statistical analysis skills, particularly database related.
  • Experience in commissioning consultancies, studies, or research overseeing all stages from design, procurement, and management.
  • Experience of the Energy sector, development cooperation is highly desirable.
  • Experience in GIZ is added advantage.
