Participants in the Oregon 22 will be competing at a larger scale than usual due to World Athletics’ commitment to increase the pot for winning athletes. This year, set to make nearly $8.5 million in total.
The organization decided to allocate 2 million dollars from the penalty paid by the Russian Athletics Federation for violating the doping rules and increase the prize money for the Oregon Championship and WCH Budapest 23.
In addition, Japanese electronics company TDK is giving away $100,000 to gold medal winners who break the IAAF world record in the process, giving athletes an added incentive to set new records.
Eighth-place finishers in each tournament receive cash prizes. Individual winners will receive the same amount, no matter which event they participate in, prize winners will be awarded as a group.

In the 18th World Athletics Championship, which is being held in Oregon, USA, Ethiopia has taken the 2nd place.
At the championship, Ethiopia has so far won three gold and three silver medals, and is ranked second after the United States.
