Position 1: Health & Nutrition Coordinator – Moyale PO

LOCATION: Moyale 

GRADE: 3B

Key Areas of Accountability:

In line with SCI’s dual mandate, these key areas of accountability apply to SCI Ethiopia’s work in emergencies (acute and chronic) and in development settings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in public health.
  • Minimum 4 years field experience in humanitarian work, including significant experience in managing integrated projects.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination and management experience.
  • Knowledge of latest health related technical guidelines and standards in emergency nutrition and health.
  • Experience in CMAM and ICCM.

Position 2: Health Officer – MHNT (Hudet-Moyale)

LOCATION:  Hudet

GRADE:  4A

POST TYPE: National

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Responsible for overall planning, implementation and M&E of mobile Health and nutrition activities in the assigned woreda.
  • Coordinate and facilitate implementation of mobile health and Nutrition activities, site selection and prepare weekly movement plan.
  • Provide basic health and nutrition services including community IMNCI/ICCM, safe motherhood, emergency services, referral, health education, EPI as per Somali RHB Mobile health and nutrition guideline.
  • Facilitate essential drugs, supplies and therapeutic products for the team and the selected health facilities.
  • Facilitate training, work closely with MOH staffs at Health posts, Health center and hospital, and district level.
  • Organize daily, weekly and monthly overview and reports of OTP, EPI, health education and consultations through using mobile Health and nutrition standards.
  • Ensure referral system and linkage between services and with the health facilities
  • Adherence to medical and nutritional treatment protocols and procedures for children and infants.
  • Provide onsite training to HEW and nurses.
  • Ensure Job aids are available in Health posts (HEW quick reference, Look up table, report format, tally sheet, Plumpnut and drug stock control balance form)
  • Receive weekly reports from HEW at weekly basis, cross check the completeness and accuracy and submit to Woreda Project officers.                                   
  • Mentoring and assist HEW in decision of patients  who are at severe risks and need to be transferred to nearby hospital
  • Participate in capacity building training, in health education sessions and ENA/BCC application
  • Follow up absentees/defaulters and keep current record of both beneficiaries and the staff (CHAs, volunteers).
  • Work any tasks assigned by the line manager and the organization.

Qualifications and certifications:

Diploma/ bachelor’s in nursing or public Health.

Work Experience:

Minimum four years working experience with out of which two year in CMAM program and/ mobile health and Nutrition.

Experience in clinical setups is mandatory particularly Maternal and child health areas

Skills/Ability required:

Position 3: Midwifery Nurse- MHNT (Hudet -Moyale)

LOCATION:  Hudet

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Supports and liaise with the health centre staff and provide on the job training and capacity building where required,
  • Follow up on safe motherhood, delivery.
  • Makes sure that midwife activities is implemented according to the National protocol i.e. application of the admission and discharge criteria, closely monitors and strictly follows anthropometry measurement.
  • Facilitates the trainings under this project.
  • Makes sure that all the mother receives health Education on FP, safe Delivery, immunization.
  • Giving care to the newborn babies
  • Giving medication and other essential nutrition to the children which are in the program.
  • Reports any problems in a timely manner to the health Officer.
  • Coaches and supervises every delivery, immunization, health education.
  • Upholds the image and values of SC at all times,
  • Performs other related tasks as required and tasks assigned by the organization.
  • Creates and maintain relationship with local health and other authorities and try to link Mobile health and Nutrition program with the existing health structure smoothly,
  • Provides a daily/weekly/and monthly overview of drug items, stocks supplied to beneficiaries, Drugs, F100 and F75
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly report and submit to Mobile Health Officer

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma or Degree in Nursing and midwifery.

Work Expereince:

Minimum four years working experience for BSC and six years’ experience for Diploma holders out of which two-year experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition particularly Midwifery.

Desirable:

  • Ensure children discharged from SC/TFU/OTP are transferred to TSFP to continue their treatment.

  • Provide onsite training to HEW and nurses on the management of MAM Children and PLW
  • Ensure Job aids are available in Health posts (HEW quick reference, Look up table, report format, tally sheet, and stock balance control
  • Receive weekly reports from HEW at weekly basis, cross check the completeness and accuracy, and submit to Woreda health & H N coordinator.                 
  • Mentoring and assist HEW in decision of patients who are at severe risks and need to be transferred to nearby OTP/SC or Hospital
  • Assist HEWs in identifying patients who need to be transferred to OTP or SC, patients with failure-to respond to treatment and patients who need to be discharged.
  • In charge of TSFP quality program implementation and monthly TSFP activity
  • Responsible for supervising and manage supplementary food in pre- mix basis and ensure availability of required material for pre- mix
  • Participate in capacity building training, in health education sessions and ENA/BCC application
  • Follow up absentees/defaulters and keep current record of both beneficiaries and the staff (CHAs, volunteers).
  • Supports the program integration with DPPO and MoH through on job trainings and supervisions.       

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for the position, applicants should have:

BSC in Nursing, Public Health or other related fields

2 years working experience with NGOs out of which two years in OTP/SC/TSFP settings.

Skills/Ability required:

  • Knowledge, training and experience in management of MAM and SAM with/without medical complication and the new IMAM Guideline
  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
  • Strong computer (Microsoft skills), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good command in written and spoken English and Local language.
