The Psychiatrist will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, providing psychotherapy, prescribing medication, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to offer holistic mental healthcare, respecting cultural sensitivities in Ethiopia.
Roles & Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and psychosocial evaluations, to diagnose mental health conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans, which may include psychotherapy (individual, group, family), pharmacotherapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring efficacy and side effects.
Provide crisis intervention and manage acute psychiatric emergencies.
Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other allied health professionals to provide integrated care.
Offer counseling and support to patients and their families.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate, confidential, and detailed patient medical records.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
Contribute to the development of mental health programs and policies within the hospital.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options, reducing stigma.
Mentor junior medical staff and students in psychiatric principles.
Stay updated with advancements in psychiatric research, treatment modalities, and psychopharmacology.
